Canned Heat

I would spend $20 a month to hear Art Bell one time a week let alone 5.

I agree the Shortwave will be fun I am not sure how many will listen there. Bob Crane is going to sponsor it for 6 Weeks and it will have to pay the electric bill. In fact the shows survival will depend on people supporting it by buying the Podcast or donations, we are really rolling the dice by putting on a live streaming show. Both Keith and me have some skin in this game. We had a big player but decided we wanted to be our own masters.

Art

Like buying real estate there are three important guiding words for success:  subscriptions, Subscriptions, SUBSCRITIONS!

FWIW
Do everything to making signing up and accommodate the different  payment sources as painless as possible.

Do everything possible to build listener base, including broadcasting on terrestrial/shortwave radio, youtube, pirated streams and podcast sources, Smart TV channels, Roku, Apps etc. Make shows free to everyone on every source available.

Brand your Streaming /Podcast site as the official site with subscription/donation clicky, but it's still free for X number of months.
Very short term contracts only, if required for terrestrial. Advertise your official site on all sources.

Keep it free for X number of months. Don't be concerned about pushing subscriptions for X number of months or even shutting down pirated unauthorized streams/podcasts, until listener base is established.

After listener base is established, switch to subscriptions for everybody that hasn't already subscribed.
End all free sources (terrestrial/shortwave, youtube, pirate streams and podcasts sources you don't control)

After shut down of unofficial sources, always have a very generous free trail period for new listeners to your controlled stream and podcasts.

Keep reminding loyal fan base, Bellgabers and FacePals to pump out social media blitz ads.

Hmmmm.... the bumper music conundrum  :-[   Good luck

I think BellGab had an NDE.  We're probably lucky to have her back.  Yes, a huge thanks to MV and Curtis.

Also, big thanks to wr250 and Redacted for staffing the chat site around the clock.
OMG!  I had no idea I was so addicted.  I need an intervention!  But thanks also to MV and Curtis for enabling me!  And of course everyone that participated in the chat.  You kept me goin'!   ;) ;D

Welcome back. I missed you all again.  :-\

I'm going to need therapy if this continues. Who needs to pay for a shrink when you have BellGab.

Don't matter wut color daze be boi, but...

And this is the problem with a Falkiesque post.  When you give too much information, sometimes it comes back to bite you.  Glad I didn't post the GPS coordinates where I will be parked...  Though if there is anybody in Alberta, you are welcome to join me.  Listen for the bus playing "Crystal Gayle" and wander on over to say "hi". ;D

Hell, next year maybe I will take it back down to Arizona and park in the desert (the bus has a decade of resort stickers from Phoenix on it.)  I seem to recall a great place in the middle of a canyon that should still be accessible.

So MV, did you lose anything or were they finally able to do a full restore?

not a single post was lost.  for a twelve hour period, i thought we'd lost a full week of posts.  in other words, i thought they'd entirely lost the database containing all of bellgab's posts and we'd have to restore from my backup which is a week old.  sparknode was actually trying to push me in this direction at one point, at which time i informed them that this would be unacceptable and reminded them of the very public nature of their profound failure this weekend.  long story short, all seems to be as it was.  essentially, everything had to be rebuilt manually.  what a horrible weekend.  this absolutely wrecked the last 48 hours for me.  oh well.

Jeesus, what a clusterfest. Can we expect you to give sparknode the old Hitler treatment on the next Specsheet, or gabcast?

The second step is a bit harder. You must accept that falkie is in fact real and not just an act.
I know... Hang in there

How frustrating. Sorry you had to go through that. But everything seems to be in working order (hopefully), and I'm glad you didn't lose anything.

me, too.  i look at each post as a little snapshot of space/time.  the thought of losing any of it makes my stomach upset and aggravates my tourette ticks.
