Oh come on it's not that hard there are boards everywhere, Facebook reposting even in other English speaking nations. Blogs, email, Paranormal sites and so forth Social Media is much more powerful then standard media. Like I said the World has changed and we will prove it when the time is right.

OK that's some help... maybe I'm not of any real value with my social media connections to get the word out :)
For example, I'm active and have friends in Dirt Biking, RV'ing and Off Roading.
With SXM Dark Matters, I wrote up a nice post about your return and posted it on about half of dozen different Dirt Biking, RV'ing and Off Roading forums. I got a few nice replies... I can do that again, but was looking for other ideas and ways to help.

Here's an example of post I made on an Off Road Forum: August 9, 2013 for Art's Dark Matter SXM return

NEW THREAD TITLE: Art Bell

He'll be back to air waves soon.
XM Radio. http://http://artbell.com/

I live in Wisconsin and back in the 90s to get my dirt bike trail riding fix, I spend many late night hours traveling back and forth to the Rocky Mountain States listening to him. For you youngsters that listen to the current hosts of Coast to Coast AM, Art started the show and retired from it. The current hosts of C2C offer little entertainment value when compared to the showmanship of Art.

Art and his wacky guests/call in listeners were a hoot to listen to around a late night campfire.
Many of his classic programs can be heard on YouTube.

An official show sub reddit would be a good way to promote the new show when the time is right.

Speaking of deep holes, they lowered a mic into this 20,000 foot hole in Siberia and recorded sounds that have called by the Russians "звуки ада" - sounds of hell.

That's really good!

Not that my opinion matters, ha ha, but I'm in Ride My SeeSaw camp - the opening words, the buildup and the melody all contribute to a lift off energy that's right for the beginning of the show. Midnight in the Desert has the mellow vibe perfect for signing off when all you want to do is ponder what you've heard in the past couple of hours.

That's my concern too. What if posts on social media aren't as well received as Art expects? Maybe standard media isn't the answer (though it couldn't hurt to press release and do some interviews) but some suggestions about what to do in addition to facebook and twitter would be helpful.

Making appearances on other super popular podcasts would be helpful to spread the word. I know that Joe Rogan mentioned listening to Art Bell more than once, and it probably inspired his fascination with the subjects. Duncan Trussell has had Graham Hancock on two or three times.

Even just getting the show announced and discussed on other podcasts could help.

Posts on social media spread geometrically.  You post something publicly, via FB, Twitter, Pin, Google or whatever and as with a pebble dropped into a pond, the ripples fan out.

Remember that ad?   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcskckuosxQ

Getting responses to your posts, tweets is not important.  Well received?  Is FB going to bring the axe down and delete all the posts?  I think not.  Neither will any other social media site.  Think your friends will unfriend you?  Didn't you just post that incredibly banal cat video yet again?  Did they unfriend you for that?  I didn't think so.

Despite my small social media presence, my friends and followers are all over the world.  We have unusual and eclectic interests and many of them would love to be able to listen to Art Bell.  If they have no interest I'm betting they have friends who do have an interest.

What will it hurt to try the social media route first and then pull out some big guns if necessary?

That's a solid idea, considering a lot of hosts were influenced by Art. The only problem is that he's shied away from calling into the Gabcast recently to not give Premiere or Sirius/XM any opportunities to quibble, so I don't expect him to do so anywhere else before July. Maybe he'll change his mind before then.

I've posted on reddit about the new show in the past on /r/Paranormal, among other places, but it became a circlejerk of quitting jokes.

I see Art's position, to be sure. It just makes me uncomfortable to put all my eggs in one basket when it comes to business.

I have a feeling that what Art is looking for something along the lines of the fury of the internet hate machine that was launched in response to the non-compete....

I have all the faith in the World in the people on this site, even better I have seen what they can do and it almost scared me. The World has changed.

Art

I'm not sure that Art understands that what fuels that particular machine is the hate... the delicious, sweet hate and that it is much better at tearing things down than it is at building anything positive.

SnapT

Social media is great and powerful, but I see no reason for Art not to make guest appearances on some of the top podcasts going to spread the word.  Neil Degrasse Tyson's STARTALK is currently the #1 most popular podcast on iTunes, and Art would be a natural guest there.  Then Tyson can return the favor and appear on MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT.

(Also, Art's not a comedian, but I'd love to see him interviewed by Marc Maron on his WTF podcast.)

Word of mouth can spread like wildfire on the internet.  When Art gives the word, if all of us tell our group of friends, they will in turn tell theirs if they like the show.   That is, if the show is good (which I have little doubt that it will be top notch) people will listen and word will get around. Also keep in mind that Art is entering the podcast world running.  He already has a loyal following and is well known.

If you want some examples of others having success online, you can start with Adam Carolla.  His first podcast was downloaded 250,000 times.  His most successful show to date was downloaded 59,574,843 times.

Another big player is twit.tv started by Leo Laporte.  Even though I don't care for Leo much at all, you have to admire what he has done.  He has established a viable internet only video podcast network online.

Keep in mind that the positive can be just as powerful as the hate.  The internet is very much a two edged sword that can be used for good or evil.  So I wouldn't say that its much better at tearing things down.  Rather it's easier to tear something down.  Especially when you are sitting behind a monitor and keyboard and not looking at that person face to face

He shouldn't do any major promotion before July anyway, people have short memories and might forget about it if he promotes it too far before the show debuts.  Any podcast guest appearances should happen like the week before MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT (love that name!) launches.  But Art should start getting booked on those shows now, scheduled months in advance.

Marc, your work is just fantastic.  I love the use of the mysterious traveling rocks of Death Valley!

Oh, I'm voting again for Cusco!  In the night, in the dark, no one will hear you scream (or sigh)

artbell.com should be updated from Dark Matter to Midnight in the Desert

Dusk to Dark with Art Bell

Social media will work--but it has to be natural.
First thing is Art needs to pull a favor and have DRUDGE pick this up after the press release like he did in 2013.
My little website is only a little website. I can do as much as I can but strength is in numbers..
But people also know when they are getting social media forced onto them.
The #FreeArtBell Twitter term was much more natural, people came up with it themselves.
For social media to work, it needs to be natural.
I think it will be natural come July.
But there will also be a long wait between now and then--social media is already picking up on this to some degree and will continue to do so.

My guess is, Art has some tricks of the trade hidden in his Pahrump home that he will slowly release to continue the momentum. He knows how to put on a great show--and be mysterious and reassuring.

Just my two cents..

It is looking like the deal will close and the show will start to air in late July but we still have not signed on the dotted line.
I'm saving a special bottle of champers for when the update changes to: "The deal has closed, and we have signed on the dotted line." Soon?

indigoo

Midnight in the Desert is a great name Art, you chose well. Very excited for July!!

I'd say we need to blitz social media as soon as that deal is closed and the line is signed. Build up the hype and audience a few months ahead so it opens with a bang. That's just my opinion when looking at other campaigns on social media that utilize the long-con tactic.
