Change is a comin' no doubt. :-[
And the storm clouds are approaching.

Not sure Davebots are smart enough to find a station if it's super secret.
I could never steal your position as High Ruiner of Shows.  That's your job, forever.

Ok, I am already breaking my no more post until rule....because this Radionomy thing sounds like a possible route, thank you we will contact them Tomorrow and see where it goes. Our big player is still very much in play but this looks like a good fallback. If anybody wants to contact me directly my email is knye@knye.com

If I sound frustrated at times it's because I am. Sorry
If I sound stubborn about the music it's because I am and I am not sorry about that.

Art

Things are looking up.  ;D

Chaim

damn that non compete.
does that damned thing include a "just for fun" one-time trial testrun of something like Radionomy?
I don't believe that it does, but then again, you never know what people are going to sue you over if they believe you don't have the patience and money to go to court.
I believe a test broadcast would have to be allowed because it is new technology for Art, and they certainly can't ban him from LEARNING.

They can test it out with out having art host the show obviously.

No worries Art .. rules are made to be broken - especially when they're your own... kinda like New Year's Resolutions.  :P

Checked out that Radionomy thing too .. looks good on the surface. Agree that it might/could be a viable "plan B". Hell even sounds so good I might make up a station myself -- I've got about 700 albums from the late 60's to the early 80's - when in my opinion music went to shit basically. But I digress..

"Plan C" IMHO should be - do a show with a bumper tune or two from production studio musicians (MV could even whip up a spacey tune or two with his buddies) and make THAT music your own .. much like I didn't know The Oh of Pleasure was by Ray Lynch ... until somebody said so on a forum. I just thought it was YOUR theme music and didn't really care who did it ... it was just an ethereal bridge/musical interlude until your voice returned with THE BEST DAMN TALK SHOW on the planet. You could even throw in a double-thunderclap sound effect or two .. surely Mother Nature's sounds don't have ASCAP rights.  :D

So basically -- if I had to choose between you with no tidbits of classic pop/rock songs or NO YOU AT ALL ... I would definitely choose the no tidbits of songs option .. and I'd be willing to wager EVERY damn one of your fans would as well. I know you WANNA DO IT YOUR WAY .. with musical tidbits... but fercryinoutloud .. if that can't be worked out (and hope it can to make you happy) just think of how many thousand loyal fans you will be letting down if you pull the plug because you don't get your way about the music "mood enhancer".  Again - it ain't about the music - it's ALL you dude.

Did you ever feel less enthused about doing Dreamland because you were only using one musical bed? If so - it never sounded like you did........

Falkie2013

i briefy heard the u7 stream where Art talked about buying Art Bell stock on the rogue market.
I remember hearing the original show and therefore I have two questions.

1. Are they still doing that?

2. What about art starting a small company where you could buy shares in art bell broadcasting and thereby fund his streaming costs and maybe this would give investors a chance to have their cake and eat it too. We'd get Art's music and a chance to make a profit ?

ManiacMatt

Onan mentioned this show in another thread, but it is a must see for anyone following the Art situation. It's on Netflix.

Maron Season 2 episode 10

Art, looks like you picked the wrong week to quit smoking.

Hang in there.  We love you.

Scully

Just want to add my 2 cents to the numbers, Art.  You have lots of support here. It amazes me that there are so many others who feel the same way I do about one radio host out of the whole freakin' planet of people.

You are indeed loved and wanted back by many, many listeners.

And, btw, GNS ... to the high heavens!!!  Deliver us, O Talented One.  8)

I would suggest you read up on Radionomy and have your tech person look over the interface. This is especially important when doing live broadcasts versus using the radio automation scheduler.
When I read your first couple of posts I was wondering what the idea was... and then it was revealed.  I know that there are a lot of interesting personalities on this forum with various knowledge- but it would be amazing if somebody here actually came up with a suggestion that lead to a way back to broadcasting for Art.

I'm happy that Art may now have a vehicle for his return.  If not, there is always KNYE... ;)

Radionomy Forum

I thought this was an interesting post in the Radionomy forum:

In response to questions of some radio producers on Radionomy platform about copyrights :

Our terms & conditions clearly mention that Radionomy hosts and streams all the web radios created on our platform and supports all the costs including music rights.

You, as a producer, have signed the "producer pact" with Radionomy, so you are covered regarding music rights.

If they have any questions, music rights companies should contact Radionomy.

Keep working on your station and make your audience enjoy it all around the World.

It all looks okay to me. It's not a typo - it's the Revolution. It's new so you probably won't find on Yahoo.

I stand corrected Radionomy has 2677 radio stations

I think what it refers to is http://www.spreaker.com/

looks to be a site for creating 'your own radio show'.

We are still looking into Radionomy but at first blush it looks iffy in a lot of ways. Here is the deal, I have some money saved which is now for my Family so I can not afford to take a chance on getting sued at this stage. While this company may squeak through from a legal point of view what I have read so far concerns me. We are still checking into it. Jeez, make any money and the vultures come. Read this link... http://podcasternews.com/2014/10/02/adam-carolla-podcast-patent-details/
Of course that is not Radionomy but you get the idea. As I said, still checking.
The problem is we will not be small, if I was just a guy who wanted to play around with a small gig it might be worth a try, we shall see.

Davebots are frequently discombobulated by side effects from their Taintco Handsome Gentleman's Mustache Wax and Diesel Engine Degreaser. I spoke with the Law Offices of Skeeter, Darryl and Darryl and they said they unequivocally refuse to represent Davebots regarding the class action lawsuit against Taintco. Which seems like a really dumb business decision seeing as they're "lawyers" and the like.

Art, do you have a good attorney you trust?  If not, I highly recommend locating one.  The Sirius situation is still fresh in my mind.  The best time to use an attorney is when you aren't in dire straights and really need one.

I'm not an attorney, but I wonder if you, in general, can incorporate or something similar, your upcoming broadcasting effort, if, for nothing else, to protect you and your family personally from all the vultures out there.  I tend to loath the legal field but it's good to have a qualified expert review any planned trips through a mine field.  A good attorney has saved my innocent, naïve butt several times and I'm glad I made the effort.  Good people are just seen as the next potential victim by too many wolves.

Best wishes and soldier on!
