Art Bell

Hiya friends!

I noticed that Linda just posted over on her website (everyone together now .. like a reporter who files reports on the earth!) that she will be the main guest on Dark Matters on October 3rd. There's a big smiley picture with Art as well. I have a feeling she's on our team.

Heh, nice.
Gotta get our LMH fix my guess next week.

coaster

Well now I feel retarded for sending her an email.

Oh, no worries, Coaster! I have a feeling your email is what prompted her to put the date up in the first place. Thanks for that.

Listening to the debut show with Dr. Kaku...and my goodness...what a difference between Art and George. Art engages with the guest, asks him poignant questions, guides the interview. George barely did any of that. It also helps that Art is interested in the things that Dr. Kaku is talking about. Just comes across as a much more natural conversation. I'm so happy Art's back!

Gotta ask ... Is your username a reference to Depeche Mode's album? If not, sorry. Making me want to pull out some DM. Also, late in wishing you Happy Birthday wishes. Mine's in a few days. Go Virgos!

Oh yeah her and Art go back early 20 years. Poor LMH has had to put up wth Noory.

Speaking as a huge LMH fan, I think it`s fantastic that she and Art will re-unite.

She and I traded emails for a while and I found her nothing less than extremely gracious and down-to-earth.

You're spot on, Chine! It's one of my favorite albums. In the delirium between sleep and awake that I registered, the turn of phrase seemed an appropriate nod to we gathered night owls and the carpe noctem zeitgeist of Art's return as well. Upon awaking the next day, I thought, "Good grief, what have I done?! I've tipped my ever lovin' synth pop cards too soon. They'll run me outta here faster than a Gnoory!!" Thanks for being so welcoming, my birthday kindred spirit! Many happy (early) returns of the day!!

I'm loving your Vulcan tales. What a fascinating life you've got there! :-)

After Monday's show, I emailed SiriusXM about the Jay Thomas commercial.  I was so glad Art announced first thing Tuesday that the issue was solved.

Today I received this nice email from SiriusXM.  Seems like they really like having Art, and us, around!

Thanks for taking the time to write in. It’s wonderful to hear how much enthusiasm the audience has for Art Bell, and we are indeed lucky and proud to have him as part of our line-up on Sirius XM.

I wanted to write you back to address your concerns over the promo features that ran during Art's inaugural broadcast Monday night. Please know that there was NO intent to “ambush” you at all; this was a scheduling issue, plain and simple.  As Art mentioned in his broadcast on Tuesday, "the problem is fixed"; but I wanted to reassure you that we have taken steps to make sure that material like this does not play again during Dark Matter.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts... And thanks for coming along for the ride with Art Bell!

Sincerely,

Kenny Curtis

So far, Sirius has been nothing but pure CLASS in how they've treated Art and all of his long time listeners.

coaster

For what its worth, she did email me back and confirm she will be on. As if the message on her website wasn't enough. lol

Yeah from what I understand - most peeps consider them to be pretty good on customer service - I too sent Art an email as soon as the first commercial break happened and i heard the language.  Not that it "offended" me, but in keeping with what he had just stated, I felt miffed, but no worries as he said IT'S FIXED! lol.

Three shows so far. Classic Art all the way. He sounds to me as if he never stopped. I sent him a friendly message last nite using the Beta version of the "Worm Hole". I suggested along with old favorite guest from the good ol' days of Coast that he keep the show fresh with a mix of current paranormal celeb's that listeners will be familiar with today such as Zak, Nick or AAron from Ghost Adventures http://www.travelchannel.com/tv-shows/ghost-adventures or The Long Island Medium
http://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/long-island-medium perhaps Jason the plumber from Ghost Hunters
http://www.syfy.com/ghosthunters/about or any newer paranormal up and coming type character.
Still, it's a joy to pause my library of all Art's old shows I've been listening to since he quit Coast.
"Roswell's" to you Art!

After a single show Art Bell is naturally the all mighty king of SiriusXM Channel 104. Within a year he'll have his own channel. BING BING BING![/quote
Won't take a year IMO.

George "fired her" during April fools a few years ago.

Linda, we have to let you go

Thanks for this. .I think people need a reminder that 1) George is an asshole and 2) LHM probably has some sort of a sad bond to C2C..

I am still looking into it

What d you mean sad bond?
Art pretty much gave a lo of people a livelihood in a way.

However, she says in that clip that dreamland was 2001, more like. 1991

I believe she will be on to talk about Art's parts.

I think it's more than being a guest, as it appears she does exclusive reports for Coast..
I will try to investigate further
Linda Howe appears to be independent, many of the same reports she does on c2c once a month she also plays over on Whitley's Dreamland streaming internet weekly show and some other internet shows.
Linda also appeared on Clyde Lewis' Ground Zero radio show (along with George Knapp) recently.
So Linda Howe is a free agent, c2cam is just one of her many gigs.

Confirmed from Linda Howe's website she will appear as Art Bell's guest exactly one week after her regular monthly c2cam show for Sept:
Linda Moulton Howe joins Art Bell for a 4-hour broadcast on Thursday, October 3, 2013.
SiriusXM 104 Indie Talk and Internet Radio
10PM Eastern / 7PM Pacific

That has got to chap some ass over at C2C. But they're afraid of how an ultimatum would turn out....

"Linda, we here at Premiere Radio have always been very loyal to you, wouldn't you agree? We've committed to you by giving you one broadcast slot a month for over ten years. That is why we feel that it's not asking too much for you to commit to us in return. Yes, we here at Premiere feel that giving you one show a month entitles us to ask that you not give aid and comfort to our competition over at Art Bell's Dark Matter. We don't think it's fair for you to do his show for one show a month just like you do ours. Why? Well, uh, it's, uh, because, uh, see, uh,...because shut up, okay? We just say so. So we're afraid we must insist that you do our show, and not Art's. It's our way or the highway, lady. Like it or lump it. We don't want to be mean, and we hope you understand. So, you can do our show, or Art's show, but not both. That's just the way it is.

So, if you'll sign this exclusive contract right here....Wait, Linda, I don't think you understand: we can't let you do both shows, and if you do Art's you can't do ours. Uh, wa-,uh, wa- wait, Linda! We're serious! This isn't a joke. You can't leave! We're not bluffing, missy! If you walk out that door....

LINDA! COME BACK! PLEASE IT WAS A JOKE! LINDA! COME BACK, LINDAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!...."

Well, except for having that Jay Thomas clip on in the first place.  No one over at Sirius has any common sense?

Got the same email response. It's good to see that Sirius is responsive and taking care of our (and Art's) concerns.
A good start. :)

Does anyone know what show was Art referring to when he said that he had heard a show on Sirius and some guys were making fun of him and aliens, but then all the callers after that wanted to talk about aliens?
What day/time?
