Hi all -

I've been lurking here since the first posts of the mammoth Art Bell quits coast thread.   So, its time to register..!

I never thought this day would come. I woke up at 3am ( UK time - on vacation ) to listen to AB.

Fantastic!!

It seems too good to be true that there will be another Art Bell radio program tonight again, and the next day etc....

There's only one reason I'd sign up to SiriusXM...

Welcome Wilderness.

This. Particularly since the Sirius upper management almost certainly would have had a lot of personal experience with how dealers of highly addictive illegal substances did business, since that is where they would have learned the marketing and management skills as well as the business ethics which their positions require....

I found one, with many sincere thanks to O for the tip.  We'll see how long S allows it to stay up.  (O and S are code initials, in case The Man is reading this).

I have to admit, as a cautious critic, I think Art smacked a frozen rope straight over the left field fence last night.

Art was on top of his game. He seemed interested, enthusiastic, patient, and, as he always was, ready for anything.

Bravo Zulu to Art!

Okay, last comment today, I promise but did anyone else notice and love Art's opening line of his LONG awaited return????

"Oh, thank God. I'm finally on."

To say it was fitting would be an understatement, to say the least. I just about died.

YES! We've been waiting Art. Thank god you're finally on.

As one emotional caller said last night, "Oh my gosh. Art Bell don't ever do that to us again"

I was disturbed to hear the promo for another program on Sirius where the host said it was better to kill a prostitute than a " nice " person and then make light of it.

If this is what passes for comedy on Sirius, it makes me disinclined to listen to any other host on the network or whatever term one would use for Sirius and its content.

I really hope the sirius folks will re-think the commercials they play during Dark Matter breaks. The way they joke about women down right ruins my mood. DM & this kind of "humor" just doesn't fit.

As I cross-posted in the thread for last night's show, we do NOT have to put up with those type of commercials.  Contact the Public Relations Department at SiriusXM and let them know how you feel:

Thank you Elinor! I've already fired off an e-mail expressing my displeasure and thanked Samantha for her time & consideration  ;)

Same here - thanked them for the great show and then expressed my only reservation regarding "blue" promos during Art's show.

I too was irritated by that ad. I see nothing about DM, other than the relatively late hour, which would make anyone at Sirius think no children would be listening to that. Regardless, has the common denominator sunk so low in America that Sirius thinks it's just business as usual to play that stuff, and that everyone should expect to hear it? If I want to hear it, I know where to go get it. I don't want it thrown at me.

I did sort of miss that, actually.

Checked YouTube this morning.  Still no audio clips of last night's show up.  I'm a little disappointed, as I'd gotten in the habit of listening to the previous night's c2c via the YouTube audio clips and it is nice to have those to go to "whenever."  I've never figured out the torrent thing, although I may have to now.
There is a Youtube of last night's show up there now but the file is huge to download.
Youtube uploads of Sirius shows will probably get removed quickly too.
There is a torrent version uploaded at The Pirate Bay site now too and its a more reasonable size (70MB) and is in the form of 4 MP3 files (one for each hour) with the ad breaks removed.
With a free torrent download application (I use uTorrent) on my PC it took less than a minute to download.
The torrents should stay active for a long time compared to youtube, there are years of Howard Stern's daily Sirius radio shows at The Pirate Bay, so hopefully Art Bell's sirius show will have them their daily as well.

agreed.  When Art said that "bad language" would not be acceptable, and then those commercial spots with very "bad language", they Seriously need to fix that.

rangerdavid

Other than the commercials, and I don't mean the C Crane ones, Art was on top of his game, the consumate interviewer, the best host ever!!  I just can't believe we stuck around long enough to see this happen!!  I'm still pinching myself as I yawn at work.  I haven't yawned at work in 10 years.

I wish Sirius would alter the Indie Channels line up.

Get rid of the poo -poo joke people, with their dirty comercials.

The other shows on the channel could be semi related to Art, but cover stuff his show doesnt.

The Channel could be conspiracy/paranormal related.

That's a good idea.  The other shows on there are simply awful and not at all worth listening to.

I also sent an email to artbell@artbell.com to let Art know that SiriusXM was running those commercials during his show.  He can't be pleased with that.

The insertion of that commercial almost seems like an intentional act by a lower-tier staffer just for the lulz, maybe someone from the Jay Thomas show.  Kinda like a deliberate middle finger to Art Bell.

I'm glad to see other people agree with me about the commercials. I was told I was whining about it.

I did find that show, but found I couldn't download it.  I'm okay, as long as it stays up and as long as I still have free Sirius to do On Demand (so I may not be okay with that next month, if I decide then that I'd rather not pay to subscribe:  still on the fence about it; probably depends on what kind of a deal I can get).

I'll try this torrent thing and see if I can figure it out.  Maybe it's not as difficult as my mind has built up that it is.  I'm not a techie at all.

If you go to artbell.com, hover over "Radio Show" and click on "Contact Us" it takes you to http://artbell.com/contact-us/ where it lists artbell@artbell.com as the address for direct messages to Art.

Thanks for posting that email address, I'm going to send one too.  Incredibly thoughtless to choose that bit to place in commercials, ten run them during a show like Art's.  If would have been inappropriate even if it had been funny - which it wasn't.

I felt like a hostage being forced to listen to the last little bit on Miley's love life turning it on a couple minutes early to make sure I didn't miss the start.  They can do better leading into Art's show as well.

Hard to believe Art will be on again tonight!

Just a note about the Sirius free month trial:

" You must call us during your 30-day trial to avoid being charged. At 30 days, you will automatically be subscribed to a monthly subscription plan and renewed and billed at then-current rates until you call us at 1-866-635-2349 to cancel."

Seems strange to have to call them to remind them that you have the free trial!

Especially considering all they asked from me was an email address. Good luck Sirius in trying to bill my email.

If you sign up for the free 30day Sirius trial via the no-credit card link it does not automatically renew.
I just got an email from them that say that, so all you get is emails from them, but they do have an "unsubscribe" to emails link too.
Its the no-hassle internet package trial deal:

the email i just got says that 30 day trial DOES NOT automatically renew, you have to call them to subscribe.  :)

don't sign up to the regular 30 day trial that requires a credit card that will automatically renew at the high regular monthly rate.

That's right! Dang, need to have momma bring home hard cider. Lighters. Batteries for the lava lamp. A new razor. A chamois rag. Virgin olive oil. Some glitter, and a handheld mirror.

I've also sent Art an e-mail letting him know us fans have been contacting Samantha Bowman about promos during breaks. The last thing we need is for those commercials to encourage rubbish like that when the lines open up. Last night was ok, but I don't think Art is going to want to have to remind people to keep it clean every night.

If I am going to pay $15 per month for radio with commercials in it, I can dang well complain about the offensive ones.

I signed up at full price through Art's affiliate link. I don't mind ponying up, since I know there are others who can't.

And I don't mind sitting through commercials. But I can promise that I will never listen to Jay Thomas.
