Once there was a radio King ( no not that one ... ),
But the evil network wouldn't help him do this thing.

So the King took the airwaves that would sing,
And let a knave named Dave flaunt all his bling.
And try to take the crown from that passed on singing King,
With his ridiculous delusion that he could ever sing.

Instead of midnight in the desert, and the King's High Desert feline herd,
We got a fool who could barely blurt a word,
And of the beloved King, no more was ' ere heard.

Time went by, and a star rose in the sky,
The King looked up & it caught his eye.
Instead of the knave in a cave and his flabby lackey,
The King knew he'd soon send them packing.

Now the people rose up into a angry mob,
They knew the Dave knave wasn't up to the job.
But their hearts were filled with woe,
For without their king, their radio dials had no where to go.

But a Monday's child is fair of face,
And one of his subjects heard a sound from space,
That spoke of midnight and taking a ride.
And he spread the word both far and wide.

A video man the name of Ross,
HE knew the King was the Boss,
And for words and pictures twas ne'er a loss.
So he posted videos for the cause.

Some say the Dog Star is so very far,
But reaching Sirius was no bar.
The people tuned to channel 104,
It was as if the King was out knocking at their door,
Just as before.

The evil knave knew he'd have no where to hide.

Once the King called out :

" Wanna take a ride ? "

The millions of subjects mobbed the stores,
As they bought radios and abandoned the Snoore.

To the evil knave Noory they all said :

" Nevermore. "

As they threw their AM radios out the door.

Twas Monday night at the stroke of 10,
The King addressed his subjects once again.
There were smiles and tears as their heads would bend.
As the King chose his secrets to reveal.

Meanwhile deep within the cave,
A shudder was felt by the scurvy knave,
His minion soon left him and was seen to flee,
As the knave dreamt of his imagined studio by the sea.

The fair damsel came out of the night,
There was no talk of angels working in the light.
Instead she spoke of searching for the truth,
That she's sought all her life.

Now as we all approach the dawn,
The great man of science had to move along,
But out in the desert by the place called fifty one,
The King still stood tall, and his subjects knew that he's the ONLY ONE !

A new day dawned and for the knave, twas nowhere to run or hide,
As the King stood and was heard from his Kingdom of Nye both far and wide :

" Hey, everyone, wasn't that a wild ride ! "

Thanks Art and all those who had a hand in bringing THE KING back to the air.

I can't wait for the next ride, can you ?

Very nice poem!  Good work.   :)

Didn't George kick him (Ross) off C2C when he went to Red Eye?

I believe when Ross went to Cumulus/Red Eye, he was off of C2C because the PremRat Borg didn't like him working for a competitor.  I could be wrong on that.  Maybe Morgus knows the actual details.

If Ross was forced out from PremRat due to working for Cumulus, it's interesting to note that apparently neither Cumulus or Sirius have an issue with him working for both of them.  Again, though, I'm not familiar with the actual details of the situation.  I'm no corporate radio expert.  ;)

It's just darn good to have Ross back with Art.  I felt as if I'd been "wormholed" back to the '90s.  ;D

Nighthawk

Yes it was indeed quite the show last night. When I heard the first opening bumper song I just went into shock. I could not believe it was happening. That was the point I knew it was real and Art was back. I have tuned around to some of the other talk shows on sirius XM and there is no doubt that Art is the king. I really have no interest in the other shows. Some of the music shows however I have interest in. Outlaw Country is a good channel. The other shows on that indie channel are such garbage it is hard to comprehend anyone is actually listening to them. Art is the master. Such a cool show last night Art. Congrats.

Quick Karl

I can't describe how great it was to hear Art again last night. It was so great that after the show was over, I actually laid down and went to sleep for almost 12-hours! I haven't slept that long it I can't remember how long!

It was like coming back home to your own bed after a long, long, absence.

A video review of last night's show:

Art Bell's first show on Sirius XM Rundown

Is that you in the video, Ravenna? I'm quite confused.  Also, I don;t think it would have been wise for Art to throw in everything but the kitchen sink on the first night of his return, so I'm sure there will be a Time Traveler's line in the future. We've SO much to look forward to, and lastnight was perfection. Hats off Art!!

BattyBrooke

Okay, last comment today, I promise but did anyone else notice and love Art's opening line of his LONG awaited return????

"Oh, thank God. I'm finally on."

To say it was fitting would be an understatement, to say the least. I just about died.

Yes! I noticed that too. I was just in shock with the opening bumper song and then what he said was just so fitting. I knew his heart is 100% in it. I don't think there is anything else he could have possibly said as his first words LOL

Falkie2013

I listened to the show and then listened to the show again and both at the beginning from where I came in and from the beginning of the repeat, I couldn't stop crying AND cheering AND laughing when Art did or said certain things.

I was so happy to hear him on the air again, it made me feel somehow rejuvenated as if all the years that have passed and all the things that have happened in my life meant nothing.

I also feel that all the years of bad Noory programs were just a very bad dream.

The King is back and like the Southern lady said ( which kind of embarrassed Art ) :

" Don't you EVER do that to US again ! "

Which made me laugh so hard I almost feel off the couch.

By contrast, I almost never laughed at anything Noory has ever said except when I let out a nervous laugh at how stupid a thing he said.

It was a delightful breath of fresh air.

I do have 2 problems though.

I was disturbed to hear the promo for another program on Sirius where the host said it was better to kill a prostitute than a " nice " person and then make light of it.

If this is what passes for comedy on Sirius, it makes me disinclined to listen to any other host on the network or whatever term one would use for Sirius and its content.

I also wonder why the streaming feed on here stopped working during the rebroadcast.

I had to listen to it because when I logged onto to Sirius and went to the Beta program, it immediately logged me off and wouldn't recognize my handle or password no matter what I did and I couldn't listen to anything even though I'd been listening to political talk before I went out for the day.

I'm going to buy one for our car so that if we're out on the road, I don't have to miss Art again.

Pity there's no way to tear out the old and outmoded radio in my Prius ( cassette ? wtf ? ) with a modern satellite radio.

I'm going to have to see if there's any other content worth listening to during the rest of the day.

Please say - why is the Michio Kaku thread shut down already? I cannot post there anymore.  ???

I wish Sirius would alter the Indie Channels line up.

Get rid of the poo -poo joke people, with their dirty comercials.

The other shows on the channel could be semi related to Art, but cover stuff his show doesnt.

The Channel could be conspiracy/paranormal related.

There could be a political conspiracy show ( think Jesse Ventura like) , a psychic prediction host, etc.

I assume MV got weary of people posting general Art Bell comments in the show thread.

Hi all -

I've been lurking here since the first posts of the mammoth Art Bell quits coast thread.   So, its time to register..!

I never thought this day would come. I woke up at 3am ( UK time - on vacation ) to listen to AB.

Fantastic!!

It seems too good to be true that there will be another Art Bell radio program tonight again, and the next day etc....

There's only one reason I'd sign up to SiriusXM...

That's what I wanted to comment on the Michio thread about. Elinor has posted an email link on that thread:

samantha.bowman@siriusxm.com

That's the public relations department or something like that. It may be worth emailing them. I think one should have a choice whether they want to listen to commercials like that. Would be hard to listen with the family not to mention it's bottom feeder content. I think Art deserves better than that. He's a class act.  And, as paying customers we outta have our vote count. Nothing will change if people don't speak up and write.

I'm on my 3rd helping of Dark Matter. IT'S DELICIOUS!   ;D

It still hasn't sunk in that the show run throughout the week. I keep thinking it's only once a week. More than that seems too good to be true.

No, I am actually a female.  That video is something I came across as I was searching for video of last night's 'Dark Matter,' and it is a bit bleh (or is "meh" the better expression?), to say the least.  The guy is not very tuned-in.  (And Art and his present wife have been married SEVEN years).

This. Particularly since the Sirius upper management almost certainly would have had a lot of personal experience with how dealers of highly addictive illegal substances did business, since that is where they would have learned the marketing and management skills as well as the business ethics which their positions require....

No Time Traveler's Hotline.

NOW WE'LL NEVER HEAR THE TIME TRAVELERS!!!  :'(

Obviously Art wanted Kaku on to talk about things like string theory and dark matter because well... that's the title of the show. There were lots of puns and jokes to be had. I'm sure we'll get into some kooky things soon enough. The show may have been hard to follow for some, but I loved it!

Ravenna

What a treat to realize that I will be able to hear Art live on the air tonight, as well!  That's one thing I can recall from back in the day:  how wonderful it was to have Art to look forward to at the end of every day (often I listened to him while falling asleep, and it kept my mind from whirling obsessively over whatever my latest trouble was).  So often a totally wretched day was saved by having Art to listen to at the end of it.  His show, and its topics, was something that invigorated my mind; that made me realize how many aspects of life truly were fascinating and it helped me to feel hopeful about humanity (that there was even someone like Art out there, and even the callers as well, some who seemed like interesting folks themselves).  It was so much more than "just a radio show" and it's a huge gift to have that returned to me, and to us.
