Thats my point lol, who ever took over for art would have gotten shit on.

Yeah, Heather should've made Keith go on that first night so he would get the brunt of the anger at first and then had her come one the next week. Haha

People would be saying "well, at least she isn't Keith."

And I have no problem with Keith, I'm just using him as an example that the first person in after art was always gonna be a sacrificial lamb ripe for the blood feast.

Is this like an interview? Will this be in the next page 69 column about bellgab?

Best moment? Was how much fun it was when the guest and topic really seemed to work well and people liked the show.

I learned a lot of lessons, it's hard to boil it down to one. Hm. I relearned how much fun radio can be and that I love working in arena that entertains people, which I thought I had lost the bug for.
sort of       i just wanted to know and always ask accordingly  because you had to have a passion to  "go for  it"     and i wanted to  know more about it  ------    i feel the reason many are here is because we are passionate about radio which in some ways is a dying   ART form  no pun intended    and you were involved in a part of it and that's important

And for clarity, before people start saying I'm defending heathers on air skills.

I've listened to maybe three full shows combined of hers. The first week, not good, but that made sense. The second time I listened to her was like two weeks later and it was a bit better. And third time was like a week ago, and it was ok.

She has a long road to go before she's on arts level but that's just an insane comparison to make on its base. The only people in radio who were on arts level have the last names stern and Limbaugh and they make like hundreds of millions of dollars.

And if you don't like her as host, there are soooooo many other shows to listen to.

Oh yeah, I was super passionate about it. I wanted to help the show to reach some really lofty goals, massive goals. Looking back, that was naive.

But, yeah I love good radio.

You did a great job. I enjoyed the challenging guests you matched him with. I think he was at his best before he decided you were his property.

SO good to see you Saucy  ;D

Indeed there are many other shows to listen to, but the thing is, us bellgabbers kind of like to gather around the campfire at night, tune into the same show, and post our conversation about the show with each other here on bellgab live threads.  If we all go listen to different shows, well, it kind of messes up our nightly bellgab campfire stories.  Its IMPORTANT.  Thats why we are trying to insist on MITD becoming a program we want to gather around and listen to.  Just throwing in my 2 cents.  ;) :-*

Rossy, you should start a personal podcast referral service for the loons that don't know how to use the search bar in Tunein or their Podcatcher.

Can you give us an understanding of the process of producing the guests?

Do the guests contact you?

Do you find the guests, if so where do you look?

Is there a behind the scenes insider list where people looking to be a guest on shows put up their credentials and background?

Dude, there are so many shitty podcasts. I've spent an hour using iTunes looking for new shows that
1. Are good. 2. Have good production. 3. Release shows on a semi standard schedule.

It's fucking hard.

I'm really not. I was talking about one specific theory.

The way art handled going off air was an absolute disaster (pretty sure he has said this himself) but it seems Heather stepped up and saved the network. For better or worse?

I only arrived at BG recently, so rest assured I have no personal interest in saying this to you, but your notion that Heather has any kind of substantial audience (paying or not, as subscribers) or may have saved the network seems extremely unlikely. What seems most likely is that someone is propping up MITD and the network with their own funds since the cash flow is by every indication, not there.

Someone said that there are probably many people on BG with experience in areas related to broadcasting. I agree with this. I also think that trying to sell the idea that Heather's MITD has legs is a fool's errand. The only verifiable piece of evidence we have in this whole sad affair is what we hear when she does what she does on MITD. And the evidence is of someone who cannot expect to generate any significant income as a radio or podcast host at a station or network.

This is the bottom line card in the whole house of cards. You would be doing your former associates a favor by advising them to drop the facade, as gingerly as possible for all involved.

I was giving the guy an idea for a new business startup. Obviously there is a need. Maybe you could hire him as your personal searcher.

Sometimes guests contact you but those that do are usually the ones you don't wanna book.

You find guests by keeping your eyes and ears open.....using any tool available really.

An insider list? Like a private producer website? Haha
No. As for backgrounds etc. you have to read as much as possible about the person if you have a reason to question their background but for the most part people I've booked are usually well known public figures and there is little reason to doubt their credentials. They've essentially been vetted by the public for years.

trostol, do you know about all the great pro wrestling podcasts? There's got to be at least 20 floating around out there now. I think you're a fan.

There's also some great sports ones. I can think of the NFL Podcast from here with themudking and eddie dean. There's also a killer baseball one from I believe the Hall of Fame that profiles a player in the hall each week.

For all I know you could be entirely right. I honestly have no clue about numbers and speculating is just that, speculating.

Besides, think about this for a second, how many people even bother too look at a $5 charge that comes out of their PayPal account once a month? For all we know there could be a lot of people paying that just forgot?

But that's speculation too.

Walter fucking Cronkite himself could've stepped into Art's show, played Art's music, and interviewed the same or similar guests and most people would call in tell Walter to climb back in his grave an stfu.

Kind of like this?  :D

Dude are you up early? Have you heard of The Taz Show? It's like my favorite show right now. I even created a BellGab like site (with some awesome help) for it. It's on early in the morning but since I'm on the west coast and a night owl I usually catch it on my way to bed. Taz is on five days a week too.
