Any news fm ART?

He's now only flying the drone inside the pantry to keep would-be intruders from stealing any milano cookies.

It was John Lear who said going towards the light was a trick and that we should go towards the darkness on an old Art Bell show.
And I post this solely as a point of factual information.

Hi Falkie!!!!  ;D :)

Not to be a jerk about this, but unless he's got an update about his 'stalker' situation or news of interest to his disappointed fans- what does he have to say? He's seen the backlash to the way he's handled this whole mess. He's seen what happens when he posts pictures of his smiling family. The question I'd ask is, "Does Art want to come back?" or "Is there anything for him to come back to?"

I'm expecting to see more "Art owes you" posts. I'm not even sure why people bother with that. He did owe people a show. If it was a short term show- fair enough. No one owes anyone. If you want to delve into the relationship a celebrity has with their fans, you might have a debate going. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on that. Might make the thread more interesting.

Wait a second, didn't you quit Bellgab? This time for real, including not reading anything here and referring to Bellgab anywhere?

personally I've grown a bit numb... I'd gladly listen to Art if he came back on the Air tonight and I'd like to think he wants to come back.  I can only give him the benefit of the doubt.  If he doesn't want to "work" or has reason to believe that he ought not to then fine... he's a grown assed man I'm a grown assed man I can accept that.

in the meantime I still love the show he's inspired and have enjoyed watching heather grow although there are many who would argue that.  whatever man... it's just a radio show about thing's i like to think about.  I'd like to see it thrive but then again I'd like to see a lot of things.  I'm not gonna go crying over spilled milk.  Just don't spill any beer!

And I didn't eat my cat.

I'm not sure if I give Art the benefit of a doubt for the way things went down, but I certainly bear him no ill will. I used to enjoy his shows when I was younger, but I couldn't get into some of the topics this time around. It might be a combination of things. I found the whole process of Art's latest return and exit interesting and I'm fine if he decides to stay retired. It just felt like the fans were taken for granted and that they were expected to remain steadfast and unquestioning about the whole mess. I think he might have given his long time fans more closure than he did- but that's his choice.

yup yup... I can't say that every decision I've made in life has been thought through enough where everybody that is affected is taken into account... but I don't like to quit jobs.  I stay til the contract ends and decide to not re-up or I get my ass fired in a blaze of glory!

If this ruling would have happened 2-3 years ago, Art would have probably been able to get out of his non-compete.

Except that someone like Savage fights for what he wants instead of rolling over. And I'm saying that as someone who is not a fan of the Savage Weiner (his real last name).

I stumble across him once in awhile. I listened to him some back around 2003-5, but I have the same problem with him that I have with Marc Levin. The ranting.  They are both highly intelligent and both can tell a good story, but I don't it off at the first rant.

Do try to let us know if, in fact, there is a bright light when you die.  Which because you refuse to even look at the exercise program I have put together for you, will be soon.
And, again, Felchie, no, I will not pay you to save your life by getting in shape.

From just reading news articles reporting on a court ruling, it can be a mistake to reach a conclusion regarding other cases or potential cases.  Journalists often omit key details, or even get them wrong.  Also, in a majority of their cases the Court rules narrowly on a very specific issue rather than ruling broadly.

According to the article, this case dealt with whether the radio network could enforce what is apparently a common 'right of first refusal' clause in his contract when Savage's contract was up, or whether he was free to sign with someone else, and not on the more broad issue of non-competes, or even radio non-competes, as a whole.

Yes, but notice he spent over a million dollars in legal fees, and has been litigating this for years.  Art wasn't willing to potentially put himself through that, and who can blame him.

Good question, pye. Do celebrities owe their fans? Nah. Just as fans have no obligation to their celebrities. If they aren't entertained, they're free to go elsewhere.

Art doesn't owe his fans anything (especially when the safety of his family is in the equation). Does he owe those who put in effort to get MITD up and running? Nah. They knew there was the risk that it might never have gotten off the ground, and as it turned out, we had quite a wild ride and got many a week of new shows out of it. Pretty good deal, actually.

Did Heather get the short end of the stick because she had to quit her previous job to become Art's producer? Nah. She knew there were risks and as it turned out, she gets to host the show, wow, talk about your wild ride! I, for one, definitely think she got her money's worth.

Could Art have handled it all better? Sure. 20/20 hindsight and all. Fans could've handled it better too.

I only agree if the show continues for at least 6 months. If the show/network shuts down before then, I believe Art owes Heather a substantial severance. Not sure what Keith and Paul make, but they have been on this ride before, so they sure knew the risks.  That's my opinion. No need to respond.
