I can believe it. And do. Folks, I'm afraid to say it, but I believe all Art did was to use our affection and devotion as a way to shake the money tree a little more. We were the club he shook at them, and I'm betting they paid him again to put it down. Nothing illegal about it. It's entirely above board. I just don't appreciate being used as someone's cudgel.
I believe you.
If it was anything at least half-assed true, it wouldn't have been strung out in a drama play on the ever-loving Facebook and only Facebook.
Thanks for the bullshit drama Art and nothing else. You have some explaining to do...like Mudking said, perhaps an explanation per radio trainwreck?

I've been thinking about this a lot, and what Sardoni says makes perfect sense. But let's face it, Art always was a con. Ed Dames, Hoagland, etc. & most of the old C2C we loved was a con. Entertaining as hell, sure, but definitely a con. It reminds me of when I caught my mom watching Rush Limbaugh's TV show back in the early 90's. She said she took nothing he said seriously and it was just entertainment.

The only reason I'd disagree with Sardondi is because I once worked for Cheap Channel.  They'd be more likely to have their lawyers threaten Art that cough up any money.

People sometimes think that because I'm a lawyer that I know, "the law", but when it comes to stuff outside my area (and many times in my area as well) I know no more than the average joe. Radio and non-competes are two of those areas about which I'm ignorant. In fact, I bet a bunch of folks here have had to deal with non-competes which are (unfortunately in my opinion) becoming much more common in everyday business. (Anything which hampers competition is ultimately bad for all of us.)

So you gotta tell me, how could Clear Chan threaten Art? Do you mean under the terms of his non-compete agreement? Because I thought that had lapsed, and I had thought that when the non-compete time-expired, the former employee could even go into direct competition with his former company if he wished. Unless he signed that right away forever, which of course anyone can do.

Or do you mean that Clear Chan could threaten Art like the Mafia threatens folks - by being the meanest bunch of assholes around? In the case of Clear Chan, I assume that would mean being willing to commit "lawfare" against Art, in which they simply overwhelm him with their scores of lawyers who abuse the legal system for fun, whether they have a valid claim or not. Or could Clear Chan have threatened their own stations, warning them that signing Art up would be considered a violation of those stations' commitment to Clear Chan's "Lineup Of The Mediocre Artists"?

Your thoughts?

Ed Dames was th absolute worst guest and worst person he ever had on.  Evelyn Paglini was another one that was full of it.  All the 'psychics' and remote viewers made for lousy shows.  And for an overall loss of credibility.

Same with being buddies with Whitley Strieber and having him on.  Roger Leir and his implant removal surgery - didn't Art claim to have personally witnessed some of that?  Sheesh.

The Ghost investigators were pretty bad - they had to tell us what we were going to hear, and it still didn't sound like what it was supposed to be most of the time.

After a couple shows of each, I stopped listening to these guests and others like them.  I guess Art had to fill 5 nights a week with a variety of topics, but yeah, so much of it was BS

I can give Art some slack on this stuff because, heck, it's the nature of the show. We willingly walked into the tent where they promised we'd see the three-headed calf, you know. But I confess: I found Roger Leir's stories fascinating. And then I found out the surgeon was actually a, uh, podiatrist. He's licensed to practice medicine, but I'm not sure he's an M.D.

But when i was listening to them, Leir's implants that supposedly transmitted an exotic radio wave,  Skinwalker Ranch, and the National Park disappearances made my skin crawl. Okay, two of those were Knapp's.

I meant more that Cheap Channel would be the big corporate bully.  However, my own contract with the company was about 30-pages, and I was a mere news producer.  Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of a Cheap Channel non-compete.

No that wasn't Art Bell, that was Noory who witnessed a Dr Leir implant removal surgery. Noory had him on many times after Art retired.

Thanks for correcting that.  I didn't mind that Art had those charlatans on, as long as I wasn't forced to listen to those particular shows.  The lying about watching an implant removal surgery bothered me.

If I didn't remember it right and it was Noory claiming to have watched it and not Art Bell, well, that makes sense.  In my opinion George has lied about so many things it's now to be expected, what's one more.

In any case Art and Whitley had a close relationship.  They co-wrote The Coming Global Superstorm and I remember Whitley guest hosting for Art at least once.

edit:  sorry, I guess your postings were more concerning Dr. Leir than Strieber.  I must group those two together in my mind.

Yes they are in the same category, although Whitley is much more annoying.

It's one thing to have them on the show.  It's something else to claim to have witnessed a surgery (as apparently it was George that claimed that) or (hypothetically) claim to have been abducted with Whitley to be probed.

The first is just providing them a forum for their story, the other is actively lying on their behalf.

IMO Art's three four greatest sins with charlatans are Whitley Strieber, Richard Hoagland, Ed Dames and Evelyn Pagnini. Those are his regardless of how much Noory has used them since. He owns them. But I'm almost willing to ease up on Strieber because of the apparent great earnestness with which he tells his story. But the problem is, his initial story has kept growing and changing until it's downright unrecognizable now. If I were looking at him professionally I'd have no problem with calling him a fabricator.

More from Art on Facebook. Really needs his own blog or podcast. He obviously still has things to say and a built in audience to listen.
Been a lot of talk around here recently about Art creating this whole drama as some sort of part in his own play, and to possibly raise some quick cash somehow.

To give credit where it's due: FortRock stated that Facebook is charging people 15 dollars to send Art a message on there with him getting a certain cut. I cannot imagine the number of idiots that paid good money to message him there and it was all for bullshit.

Well said, well said.  I guess I'm not so convinced there was no surgery -- but I think whatever was removed was an ordinary growth or some sort of foreign body like a piece of glass that became lodged beneath the skin under ordinary circumstances such as when the 'victim' was playing as a child.  I imagine Dr. Leir pushing it around a little under the skin to convince the patient or witless onlooker (or possibly himself) that it behaves in an abnormal fashion.

Also, I was still half-asleep when I was responding to the earlier post :P

they also showed video and audio recordings years ago with Noory watching Leir's implant removal surgery.
Whitley also once told of trying to have his own implant removed but it 'moved' so he had it stopped.
Leir has told of scientific analysis of removed implants and they are tested to be of materials only found in meterorites, in other words extraterristrial in nature. He also told of detecting a specific RF frequency emitted by the objects...

There's no reason to believe anything he says. At all.

I liken Art's show to well done Professional Rasslin.  When done correctly with lots of flair and personality, a Rasslin match can be a lot of fun to watch.  In essence, it aks you to suspend disbelief for a while and go with the story line.
Noory's attempt at the show is like watching some independent station in your home town try to produce a Saturday Rasslin hour.  The guys are fat, out of shape, have no personality, and do not even execute the deception well.  It makes for booooooring fare.

Like I say, I bit on Roger Leir. You mean it's...it's not....true?

As always, FortRock is full of bovine excrement.   I have exchanged messages with Art on Facebook.  There's no fee associated with either sending messages or receiving replies.

Is Art one of your friends? I heard it was if you were not his friend. And I do know they charge you 1 dollar to msg someone that isn't a friend as per my F***book contact.
Not FortRock btw.

I know scandals and conspiracies can get crossed at times. Especially source considering. I was only noting the discrepancy in price and wondered if they do this price increase to particular people that draw a lot of unfriended messages and whatnot. That place is not my world and I don't know what goes on there other than the occasional news article that draws my perusal.

I will admit though, I am one of the few that does get a delight out of the infamous Leader of the Art Bell Army. Is this by default since I am one of his 4 appointed Generals? Mudking? Although his accuracy rate is that of a thorozined Sean David Morton on acid recovering from a three week vacation mainlining vicodin, in his own way he is an asset around here and does stir the boards up a might.

By self admission, my posts are meant in sarcasm and jest. Seldom do I speak what I would testify to in court. Minus shitting on Noari's face if he were on fire. To put out said fire. But all in all, I'm sure I offend my fair share of people on a quite more often basis than even FortRock. So I can't shame the guy. Not saying you all can't, But since I AM a DOUBLE General I have to hold the reigns and go back to shining my shoes and barking orders.

If you're "friends" with someone on Facebook, when you send him a message it goes directly to his "Inbox" folder.  If someone isn't your "friend" on Facebook, when you send him a message it goes to his junk mail folder.   If the person who receives your message in his junk mail folder chooses to reply to your message, any further messages from you will no longer go to his junk mail folder, but to his "Inbox".

The only time a fee is involved is if you're not someone's "friend" and he chooses not to reply to your message in his junk mail folder.  If you want to bypass his junk mail folder and force your message into his "Inbox" you have the option to pay $1, all of which goes to Facebook.    Technically, someone could pay $1 to bypass Art's junk mail folder, but Art would receive no financial benefit from it.

Good stuff.  Are you the same Knight with the vampire book?  I recently downloaded Bram's "Dracula" (most of those old books are free on amazon), but I haven't gotten around to reading it.  I'm not into the "vampire" thing, but a recent c2c show on the Stoker book interested me enough to at least have it handy and ready for when I get off my lazy butt.  If you are the same guy I think your short story collection may be more my speed.  And I like price.  And if you are that guy (jeez, I log in to write a quick comment and I ramble on and on - that's why I haven't gotten around to reading the friggin' Bram Stoker thing) my apologies for bringing in up in public, since it seems you don't really push your wares around here.

I agree. As long as someone is of legal age, why does it matter? People are so hung up on what others are doing. That's sad. If two people are happy and find each other, than what's wrong with that?

I checked this out after reading about FortRock's post. I'm not friends with Art on FB so when I tried to sent him a message window pops up and states for $15 they will send the message to his inbox. I couldn't find anything with my limited Google-Fu about celebs getting a pecentage of those message profits.
