Bill Cooper...he had some good ideas and probably some truth mixed in with truckloads of bullshit.
I listened to Mr. Cooper's shortwave program regularly- The Hour Of The Time. His 10 part Mystery Babylon Series is still required listening IMO, but only if you hear it through all 10. Cooper had a wide view of things and in spite of his petulance and other shortcomings, his was a very intense and listenable show. For better and worse he influenced me considerably. Always keep your eyes on both sides of the ball.

Another suggestion....find something riveting and incredible or not, like Mel Waters or Jonathan Reed....sagas that get folks hooked begging for more, true, hoax or not.

Don't make the show too serious, scientific, deep right now most nights.. Older listeners may want this, however you need to hook new ones who get totally memorized at an intro level.

Get someone like Riley Martin on....or Ed Grimsley.....John Lear etc. Get Paulides...always a great draw and fascinating stuff.

how about some free timetraveller subs for a few radio hosts or something like that... give some people free access? i dunno... an insert in some boxes of pizza rolls?

If anything the man had good taste in music.  100% agree about his Mystery Babylon series.  Still have his book Behold a Pale Horse in my library, too.

Sounds like a collection of half baked gimmicks to me. What is wrong with the idea of natural growth. Im sorry, but I dont think any of us know what the situation really is. Specifically, is the show sustainable in its present configuration or not? I repeat, Art's last email delivered two divergent (at least in my mind) messages.

Well, it would seem to me that Art is not happy with so called "natural growth", otherwise I see no other reason for his most recent post, no?

The only thing we need is to get the word out that we are here, most Don't even know we exist, this is
changing but slowly, we need some way to get the word out faster, I know there are a lot of good thinkers here so any idea's are welcome. Most people joining now we're told by somebody and say something like Wow I thought Art was still in the Philippines. So at this point it's just getting the word out that we exist.

Art

1. Art Bell's iconic face is recognized by millions yet doesn't appear on the official website and social media. Instead it says Art Bell. A picture of the famous Art Bell would tell everyone that they're in the right place. Make it personal.

2. Guerilla marketing would help. If everyone wore an "Art Bell's Back!" t-shirt with it imprinted on the back side, along with the website, artbell.com, people would see it at the beach, in the airport, at churches, in restaurants, at UFO conferences... etc.  It would get millions of impressions as long as it could be seen easily from a distance and fans all wore it. Complex graphics and dark colors aren't as visible, unfortunately. This is an example of something that could use the fan-base to spread the word without requiring much effort on their part.

3. Free press releases. Get some b-roll, soundbites and written press releases and distribute them free online, plus emailed to AP and a few choice print and broadcast entities. There has to be some valid news such as having Trump on your program, claiming to have a piece of alien craft or whatever.

LOL...yeah, but you need people to know about them before they can want them.

Maybe the Totino's people can hook us up with some cut rate deal for space on pizza roll boxes? 8)

Concur. Btw wasn't it a caller, and Bill Cooper, fan that called into Art back in the day and Art trolled (I think) him and said he was a Mason and I think even high-level? And I recall Bill talking about that later on his show believing it! RIP Bill Cooper.

Not sure about Art's caller but Cooper did a thing once called Art BS Bell. Accused him of spreading disinformation to the sheeple, masonic ties, and things of this nature.

Pretty sure Art did it but don't recall show date. I think he was kidding. haha. Interestingly also how Cooper also had problems with the young upstart Alex Jones back when. Funny how the conspiracy crowd handles each other (I'm not including Art in 'that crowd' because he is bigger and not dedicated just on conspiracy.)

I think that's a great idea considering the current political climate in the US.

Blitz aside, Art interviewing Trump could/may go postal, if Art is willing to release portions of the program on other media channels to be share, like YT, that can be Twittered, FB'd etc.

Yep. I like it.   :)

Art might have to consider a PR/Marketing/Social Media pro to help bring it all together! An example is where Dino was able to book Art on the Tom Leykis show.  It pays to have someone to set all that up!

Now I"m sure (Red) can do that of course, but I have a feeling she is too busy being producer....

I think this would be great! I threw out this idea the Friday before Art's return...I couldn't get anyone to help me with it from BellGab.  I called all morning on Friday during Rush's show (open lines on Friday)...The phone just rang, then disconnected...I called for 3 hours straight!

We would need a team of people doing this, then you would have to have an interesting story to tell...at the time I was going to make the comment that there were two people that saved AM radio, Rush and Art...but we might have to come up with something else to get on...once on you can act all excited and then mention Art being back...
Uhm, Art should interview rush. (Not Rush)
Wait, why can't it be both?

No way The Donald goes on Art, though.

I bet there'd be a chance he would if he were to hear Art's producer's lovely voice telling him how the fringe world desperately needs him to speak on MITD.   ;D

Yea Rush L. (:-) almost never does interviews from either side of the mic...BUT if he did it would be for Art! IMO! Wow, that would be fabulous! Imagine the old war stories!

Yeah, but what in the long term would that do for Art and the genre that MITD represents. MITD is not a partisan politics program.

So your suggestion is to promote a proven sociopathic liar like Jonathan Rutter (not a PhD, not named “Reed”) who fabricated his entire story to bilk money out of Art’s listener base?  Gross.
http://www.ufowatchdog.com/jonathan_reed.htm

Backwards to proven frauds, worthless “Ancient Aliens” type of fluff, and the kind of credulous idiocy that C2C panders to is NOT the way forward.

Art has a real chance to raise the bar and help to rescue this entire field of inquiry from the humiliating downward spiral of recent years, and set a higher standard that brings the scientific community and the paranormal community closer together, not further apart.

As last night’s show powerfully attests â€" good science makes for fascinating radio.  We need more of that, not less.  Let Snoorge take the fat, while we churn the cream.

Art get in touch with the guys at vice.com they would cover your story... like the whole story.  they do a lot of niche stories that you dont normally see not to mention they have contacts with rogan and such

Any time you can market to radio listeners, it's a worth while thing to do.  He still has 12 million listeners or so. Art got a huge boost from Larry King, and that was mainly politics.

i love him, but think he is an artiste' , meaning status quo is just alright, while more would be better. i dont have a problem with that at all.
i feel his message is possibly being misinterpreted as a cry for help. For the third time, his post about this was not at all clear.

I think it was just a natural request from Art since he made the decision not to make a deal with several large terrestrial stations.  I think it is interesting and I'm flattered he even includes us in this process, just like the blitz! I don't see any type of issue with the request...just Art including the BellGabbers! Trust me, Art is not desperate!  8)
