I can't tell whether that's very witty or very stupid.

Keep it to yourself and let me use my judgement.
Well, let me just say this: Donald Trump has millions of fans who are way above your pay grade, such as Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, Lindsay Lohan, Bruce Willis, Robert Duvall, Trace Adkins, and many, many more.  You are probably a left wingnut because you survive on the backs of working people, without whom you could never otherwise survive at all.  Tell us what you do for a living, so we all know what I am saying is true.

You're a Democrat, eh?  Pretty sure Trump was a Dem, too, at one time.  Reagan as well.

This is the reason why I feel like Art should avoid politics.  It pisses too many people off.

In the sense that I believe in democracy, yes. It's an underrated idea and should be given a chance one day.

You have to understand SV, the general  American mindset is really quite binary. You are either Red or you are Blue... full stop. Either you love America and all that she stands for or you want to destroy everything that is true and good in the world, with both sides claiming ownership of the higher ground. There is no allowance for a concept so esoteric as a different (ie. world) point of view. An Englishman with an opinion? What the actual fuck?

Hello Art, not sure how often you check all the subsections of this forum. You have referred to some people of this group as Irascible and vaguely lovable. But a few here are just a little bit more lovable then others. Over on this sub forum
http://bellgab.com/index.php/topic,8540.0.html  These good folks have made my niece and nephew in law slightly happy during a hard time in their life.
Folks who love cats and kids can't be all bad! ;)

Don't even need twitter.  All he has to do is log-in to Bellgab's live show thread.  Yes, he'd have to mention this site several times a show.  And yes current non-members would have to join Bellgab if they wanted to contact Art during the show, but it's free to join and then they too can join the cool kids and Jaz.

Duke if he mentions bellgab the cycle keeps going.

Everyone listening knows about bellgab and everyone on bellgab knows art is back.

That's a pretty dated stereotypical view..  America is THE most diverse country on the planet. Put 10 of them in a room and you get 10 completely different opinions. The thing that sets America apart from the rest of the world, is our inclusiveness.

No matter where you come from; no matter who you worship -- or not; no matter the color of your skin; no matter how poor or wealthy....you can be an American. Pretty damn unique.

Tell that one about inclusiveness to someone with the first name, say Muhammad, living in say... Tulsa (or anywhere else, really). American "freedom" is an illusion... you are all prisioners of your world fear and paranoia.

But if someone is going to use twitter to contact Art during his show in lieu of the Wormhole, won't they have to know Art is on the air and be listening as well.  My point was, if the idea is to allow those without a Time Traveler acct to contact Art, why not use the real time, live show thread here rather Art setting a twitter acct for that purpose.

Or visit almost any convenience store or university in the engineering department and tell me how bad minorities in America have it.
Having said that I agree that our freedoms are being curtailed and taken away- usually with the people's consent or at least acquiescence sadly. But still freer than most countries, for now. For good or bad, I guess (shootings, DUI accidents, etc.)

I can't tell you about a Muhammad living in Tulsa, other than he's probably enjoying a much better standard of living with more opportunities for his children, than anywhere else in the world.

However, I can tell you about a Muhammad in Myrtle Beach ( you know, the deep south). He happens to be one of my best friends and a revered pillar of the community. A fantastic doc and not a bad golfer, to boot. And don't tell anybody, but his favorite beer is Heineken.

Has he or anyone in his family ended up on the "no fly" list... just because he has a "scary" name? Thousands have.

What a simple minded clichéd sneering view of America and Americans.  Thanks a lot.   And to your point about Muhammad in Tulsa--in reality beyond some loud online and TV idiots most in America are very tolerant of Muslim americans.  They are much more integrated in America than Europe.

I'm sorry things didn't work out for you here, son. Perhaps you'll fare better in Europe. But, you know what they say, " if you can't make it here; you can't make it anywhere."

Good luck, mate.

Sorry, I'm not the simple minded clichéd binary-minded dimwit that assumed that an Englishman must be one o' them dastardly democrats, because he proposed a differing point of view.

So in response you became at least as bad.   And there is validity for someone in any country to say to those who are not to bugger off, we know we aren't perfect but we don't need loudmouths pontificating our faults...we can handle our own shit, dialogue and criticisms--thank you very much.

Americans: Superior and immune to criticism.

AppealPlay

Off track thread isn't helping brainstorm marketing ideas for MITD.

The more I think about the more Art doing the radio show/podcast circuit seems like a great idea.  Time consuming and tiring for sure but the exposure it would give him would be great.

Not my point--and I wasn't talking just about America.  And some that critique are the ones taking a superior attitude...one can critique without being smug and superior but some haven't quite mastered that yet.

Sorry, if I'm coming off as smug and superior it must be because I am America-born and raised... smugness is something my people struggle to overcome. That, being over-loud and tipping way too much.  ;)

I never have consented to all these stupid gun laws we have now, or the insane political correctness, or losing my livelihood if I don't bow to trannies, or that my niece cannot get a job east of the Mississippi because she's not liberal enough, or that my utility is in bed with government (tacking on new taxes every 6 months or so, as deciple tax collectors for politicians), sham trade deals, unbridled illegal immigration, it goes on and on. Neither have I acquiesced to any of it.  Like the majority now in this country, I'm so fed up and sick of blood-sucking parasites, every one of them now believing they have a birthright to my labor, no differently than Southern plantation owners who believed they had birthright to slaves.  Anyone with a skosh of intelligence knows that having shattel on one's income is no different than having shattel on one's body and labor.  But for all those who have acquiesced, rolled over and played dead, they do indeed deserve what they get. And the perps will be getting even more very soon, finding themselves eating at outdoor soup kitchens because they have no skills whatsoever to survive otherwise.

How about a campaign to call other shows and just say Art Bell is back! That's all they would need to do a Google search and find the show, but I don't think it's a good idea on Coast because (being honest here) that I want their caller's.

Art

Art,

I spread the gospel of your triumphant return whenever I get the chance.  I work on gas dispensers, and I've told at least 50 truckers about ya.  Over half have heard you, and seemed genuinely excited about the prospect of hearing you again!

The only problem, as I see, is bandwith.  I LOVE the quality of the AAC stream as it is, but please consider having a lower bitrate stream available for truckers and travelers.  I did the math on your show, and at 48Kbps it will use 1.2GB/mo to catch every show.  That's not a whole lot, but on a 4GB/mo plan, that's a serious chunk of it. The simple solution is to obtain more data, but I don't forsee hundreds of thousands of users doing that.  I could be wrong (it's happened before), but I suspect I'm not.

I have listened to as low a stream at 17Kb/sec and can still hear the talk clearly.  A 24Kb/sec stream in AAC would still sound as good as a 64-96K stream in traditional MP3 compression.

It's at least something to discuss with Rowland.
