I've actually watched the 1979-81 episodes recently(the last decade is "recently") and it was very tongue in cheek, and touched on the themes you mention(couple of years ago, my uncle says "did you know Boss Hogg is a Jew in real life?" I laughed and broke the news to him about the Three Stooges). The car becoming the star definitely lead to a more youth-oriented phase. That seemed to occur in season 3 especially. Wildly popular with a spinoff in "Enos" and ripoffs like "Lobo". And of course, Catherine Bach is right there with Lynda Carter and Erin Gray for making Old Coyle still watch shows Young Coyle liked back then.
Boss Hogg is a Jew! Never heard that theory (but astounded your uncle couldn't see that in some of the Stooges.) Haha I could make so many comments to get me banned or otherwise criticized about Boss Hogg in relation to money, land-dealings, border controls of the County, operations of suspicious bars and girls and gambling, etc. Not that I would ever associate that stereotype but your uncle's theory is interesting. I will consult Rense for further follow-up. ;)
re: The General Lee. I was hiking around my local creek area with some younger relatives last year. Finding fossils, checking out fish, snakes, etc and whatever. Found a full body of a die-cast General Lee in the creek way down a side creek buried. I won't say it WAS but I think, from the relation of creek and flow it likely came from the yard of a cousin's place who was about your age who loved that show also and always played with his toys from the show in the area.

The General

I loved the Dukes of Hazzard.

I want a "We Are ALL Stanton Friedman" tshirt.

MV/Liberace!

I'm Stanton Friedman.

Get the gig on the new MITD, even as a weekend hostess or "sidekick." From that internet result/reading you would be excellent (not to say you performance on Gabcasts and praise/offers from Art aint enough  ;) )

I might be wrong, and older than you not that that matters, but if you rewatch the show the first season, as I recall (not as good as you probably) was not a child's show I think. Not "bad" but trying to go elsewhere.. Lots of innuendo- sexual and otherwise, corruption of good ole boy system, the gun charges (hence Bo n Luke could only use bows and arrows- sometimes with dynamite!, some close "kissin cousin" stuff with Daisy, more drinking, etc. Even some more politically incorrect stuff with regard to the Old South.) It still kept the drinking and outlawery -but in a fun way- and, obviously awesome, hot chicks, but became a lot more totally fun high-jinx and less more serious. I don't mean serious but different market. I still loved it though.

That show was deep on so many levels.

Today I paid the $9.99 for the Tune-In PRO app, which gets rid of the obnoxious ads that can add a 30sec delay to starting playing a stream on the free Tune-In app on my smartphone.
I found the PRO app also gives a record stream capability (immediate or scheduled for a specific time) that is a nifty feature, can play back recorded streams saved on your smartphone's flash memory at a later time even without internet connection then.

I clicked on the alien language at the bottom of the test and got Era Uoy.

You don’t really listen to what people say and you tend to draw your own conclusions despite obvious facts to the contrary. People stopped inviting you to parties a long time ago. You have a unique skill avoiding reality.

Listen closely!

Sounds more like eorgeg ooryn to me.

When I was a little more honest I got Stanton Friedman.

I've oft wondered how much herpes breakouts was due to Dawson.
It might be my old laptop, the youtubes, the lighting, or my eyes but ol' Uncle Jesse looks like he's used a bit too much colloidal silver! But Daisy,,,Bach...wowsa.

IDK, , apparently these youtubes start other videos on sync or something. "Daisy", looked wow even outta shorts,  and Richard Dawson still spreading herpes with his kissing on a "Celebrity Family Fued" with the Waltons.
But Uncle Jesse looked "blue" on my screen (old computer and also reformatted and installed some linux etc.)

I just see the General Lee jumping over an old barn but yeah, Daisy was always a catch until they did the remake.  Everyone was fat as Boss Hog by then.  okay, not quite, but Bo was having a pretty tough time fitting through the window of the General Lee.

Dukes' jumps always have a pause and then the narrator talks over them.

I think that was the set-up for every commercial break.  At least that's how I remember it.

Ugh. HOW DARE YOU TAKE THE GOOD NAME OF MR. BELL AND TAINTALIZE IT!
More bad Si-Fy Channel programming with Canadians you've never heard of before with 20th century props filmed in a warehouse (I mean spaceship) to be cancelled in short order.

Freakin awesome show but never understood why the construction guys were always tearing up perfectly good roads

they do that all the time here. they will lay down some nice new road. then a month later the sewer dept tears it up to put in/repair  the sewer. then another month the water  dept, etc. in 4 months time the road is back to crap again.

What can you expect from an outfit that can't spell sci-fi and their best movie is Sharknado.

The episode corresponding to this date that I have in my collection is just under 2 hours long so once the C2CAM promos are removed from this weeks SIT we will have an extra 36 or so minutes of new classic Art Bell. I'd call that a win.

Bring on July.
