Dear Art:  Driving across the Nevada desert in the late late hours has lost some magic since your voice has been gone.  Please bring back the night magic![/size]

The show right now is excellent.

While I really want Art to comeback, I am concerned after his post that is not going to happen.

I really hope Art comes back and realizes on facebook and other areas his fans have been much more supportive of him than this message boards.

Ya think.

That post was Art all but waving the white flag. Blaming his loyal fans who have every right to be wary is indicative of his sometimes petulant behavior.

I hope I'm wrong as there is no other broadcasters who do it quite like Art. Dark Matter was a reminder of how great this man is and was. It would be a shame for him not to return. He doesn't owe us anything but we shouldn't feel like it's our fault just because we might have long memories and have been burnt before.

It's odd Art used to go on and on about how much he loved doing radio. He would run C2C for 5 hours and even that wasn't enough radio for him, he frequently talked about how he would be doing stuff on Knye before C2C. It was obvious to everyone how much he loved radio. He seemed to really enjoy doing Dark matter when he was on it. Maybe shortwave is enough for Art now.

I hope he will throw out DARK MATTER (too unoriginal) and choose my longtime favorite choice for an Art Bell show name, MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT.

(Like Falkie, Art should play his theme song at the END of each show.)

Yes, I agree, it's a great name!

Come on back, Art.  It'll be fun!

Hi again,

It's been a long time since I have posted. First I did not miss any shows for Sirius/XM save for one when the studio in New York went down, none missed for my back or the spider bite.

Second, I do still have the Flu and have had a bad back since I was in my 20s, sometimes it is ok and at other times I can not walk. Only people with bad backs can possibly understand.

Third, IF I decide to take a run a streaming it will be free while live as I have always said, this would be in July
after my Non-Compete is over. It would also be at my own expense and require a considerable investment. It will
also require a Producer which may be a problem because Paul may not be available, no Producer would mean no show.

Fourth, I have zero regrets about having left Sirius/XM and were I faced today with the same situation now, would make the same decision. The ONLY thing I would have done is to not have signed a contract with them in the first place without understanding their streaming problems, it was represented to me that they had a viable National and International stream in place, that is on me.

Fifth, If anything aside from my Health would hold me back it would be the people who as I have read on this board are already starting to say I will quit again, if I decide to give this a try at my age there is no guarantee
my Health will hold out and if it does not it might be wiser to not begin as opposed to facing all the grief I would get if at some point I could not hold up.

These are the things I am considering...

                                                                                                          Art Bell

Art--as you can see from the responses the vast majority here just want to see the master back on the air.  There will always be a few loud mouth haters--they do NOT represent the great majority...who are here for you AND would cheer LOUDLY hearing you back on the air.

As others have said we'd love to hear you even just once or twice a week if that makes the most sense to you.  And if you can go 5 days a week, so much the better.

We'd just enjoy you as long as you go.  Lets all have one last party, one last go...for however long it lasts.

BREAKING NEWS!

FADE TO BLACK is NO LONGER on the DMRN!!!!
As of Monday Jan 26.  2015.   It will air on I Heart Radio and other networks.

Im just speculating.  But either this means one of two things.  They are making room for Art.

Or Art isnt coming back and they are shutting the doors.

Thoughts?

Isn't Premiere and C2CAM owned by IHeartMedia?

Perhaps they have bought out Church and he has finally committed to the Dark Side.

Yes, I heart Radio is owned by Premier.  Church has jumped ship.

Premier is a wholly owned subsidiary of iheartmedia

This was posted on jimmy Church's website

Starting Monday January 26, 2015 FADE to BLACK will be on the Game Changer Network and Spreaker. In two weeks we will be on IHeart Radio. The show time remains the same, 7-10pm PST.
We would like to thank Keith Rowland and Art Bell and everyone at Dark Matter Radio Network for an amazing year and we wish them all the success in the future and the return of Art Bell.
Jimmy Church: “The year that we had with Dark Matter Radio was beyond our expectations…we grew together a show, network and most importantly as friends. I want to thank Keith and Art for giving me the opportunity and taking a chance on a show like FADE to BLACK and allowing the team and I to be a part of their network. I am excited about 2015…and I would like to reach out an thank every one of our audience and the Fadernaut family…it’s you that makes FADE to BLACK special.”

Church would have likely jumped to I Heart Radio the first chance he got.  I doubt DMRN would have had anything to do with that.  If anything it's going to make it harder to keep Dark Matter Radio Network going until Art arrives and could be another discouragement for him.

I respectfully disagree,  Fade to Black gets only a few hundred listeners. It has zero impact on if Art returns, I do not think FTB ever had over 400 listeners.

Beloved show of Mother Russia has many listeners.

dan7800

Remember when Jimmy was filling in for Art.

I doubt Jimmy gets 100 listeners a night, this has zero impact for when Art returns.

Come back, do 1 show a week for as long as you want. Heck, even once a month would be fine.

The show right now is excellent.

U7 is a good one.  I've got two internet radios, one in the living room, one in my bedroom, with the first three preset buttons set to 24/7 Art Bell streams. It's great knowing Art is always there when I need something to listen to.   Life without George is good.

A little analysis of Art's post... quotes that point to a "no show" in July:

"It would also be at my own expense and require a considerable investment…"

iheart radio also has an app partnership with spreaker...

And that my fellow loyal Art Bell fans is the "July Situation". Anyone in the "Art is definitely returning" camp care to take a bet now?

is there a way to organize some sort of betting pool among strangers online?

Michael Savage apparently is doing open lines on his show now!

So obvious Savage is a fan of bell!

I don't believe there was even any significant uptick in listeners after his spot on C2C. He pretty much hit his plateau.

That seems most likely.
Remember that big deal that happened when Jimmy Church got that chance to guest host c2cam on the weekend once and Art almost quit his dealings with Keith Rowland over that?
Art only came back after it was promised Jimmy would only do a one-time guest host gig there while on DMRN.
Maybe Jimmy didn't like being limited due to that, so quit DMRN to go for the brass ring via PremRat?  8)
