Submerging artist.

That's for sure.  The songs are played for such a pitifully short time you have no idea if they're any good, or, in many instances, what they even sound like, because all you hear is the intro.  It's really insulting to the artists who submit them.

there is that possibility.

Hell would be interesting. This is Purgatory, and we're all paying for Noory's sins... forever.

THANK YOU!

I woke up once to tumeric and stared up at the ceiling and chortled. Then I woke up to this nonsense and felt sad and tired.

I tend to think Jorch would write a forward for anyone who asked, just so he could see the words 'Forward by George Norry' in print and because he would think being 'published' elevates his status.
I do wonder what he really does believe, spiritually. It is hard to tell because he seems to agree completely with every single person he interviews, no matter how different the beliefs. Maybe he has no soul and believes in nothing.  ::)

The same old New Age clap-trap just dressed up a little different. George no more wrote the intro to Daugherty's book, than he wrote WORKER IN THE LIGHT or co-authored that other book. He's a trained monkey who signs his name on anything they put in front of him. I'll bet the waste basket beside his desk is full of those yellow and red "sign here" stickers. Jorch has the reading skills of a third grader, which we hear each night when he reads the news and stumbles over common words. People who don't read, can't write.

George was obviously coached about how to do the show with Daugherty. This interview did not show the wild flailing-about we are used to. Noory has scant knowledge of history, yet when a caller mentioned that Nero killed Paul, George was johnny-on-the-spot with the retort about the "controversy about who killed Paul". George is NEVER quick with a retort, unless it has been practiced, and the 3x5 cards are in front of him, in perfect order. It's obvious that the folks in the propaganda office of C2C think Daugherty is important, and they didn't want George to screw it up

Last night's interview with Daugherty:

George: (Reads scripted question provided by Daugherty.)
Daugherty: "That is a very intelligent question George!"

George: (Reads scripted question provided by Daugherty.)
Daugherty: "Another great question George! It's no wonder you are the greatest host on the radio!"

George: (Reads scripted question provided by Daugherty.)
Daugherty: "Boy, you really know your stuff George! It's an honor to speak with someone like you!"

uyyyy.  FUCK OFF GEORGE NOORY.

Really horrible moment last night when Christian Wilde introduced the subject of Billy who I gather has had serious heart problems from which he had recovered only to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He had expressed - for reasons best known, and best kept, to himself - a desire to meet George.
George took over the story and turned it in his own vainglorious fashion into a story all about himself. It happened, he told us at 'one of my major events' at the Egyptian Theatre in Boise, Idaho. There were, he said 'hundreds and hundreds and hundreds' of people there. He further told us that he's been doing this kind of thing 'all my life', onstage in front of 'unimaginable numbers of people', but on this occasion, the hardened veteran began 'to break up'. He left the stage, because he didn't want Billy to have to come up on stage, and 'with spotlights on me', made his way to join Billy in the audience.
So embarrassing and awkward. Even his buddy Wilde seemed a bit taken aback by such a display of inappropriate egotism.
Creepy is not the word.

There's an agonising pause while Joorch's brain frantically scrambles to find the appropriate thing through which everything might slip, and comes up triumphantly with....

That's it, Joorch, everything would slip through the grapevine, wouldn't it?

It still won't stop people listening to him to endure however many hours so they can come on here to say how bad he is and should be taken off...

"How are our ratings Tommy?"

"Pretty good George. We get a lot of listeners who say they can't stand us, but the sponsors are happy they tune in. No they can't see the sense in it either"

Earlier today I was listening to "The Very Best of Art Bell" (U7 Radio.org) on TuneIn, and they were replaying the Dark Matter show where Art names the winner of the contest to name the Halloween Night Special.  The winning name was "Spooky Matter", submitted by Steelbot of our own Bellgab group.  This is the famous occasion where Art calls us bellgabbers "vicious, but vaguely lovable".

Hearing that made me very sentimental, and then very angry.

Somehow I don't think a handful of malcontents on bellgab are the ones keeping Noory & Co. afloat.  In any case I like to think of this thread as a vigil, where we keep the flame of truth burning through the Noory darkness, while the hordes of zombies call in to tell him how great he is and keep up the good work etc.

And c'mon, don't we all have shows we love to hate?  Guilty pleasures?  Programming which is so bloody awful that it's strangely entertaining?  Ok I'm not proud of it, but Noory is my Kardashians, my Deal or No Deal, my friggin Sharknado of the radio.  It's the kind of programming that's so mindless that it gives your poor brain a rest, like a Zen paradox it short-circuits logic and allows you to space out on a sea of formlessness as you get drunk or eat ice cream or count the paperclips on your desk.

I wish Art was back though.

Speaking of zombies and abandonment, it reminds me of "28 Weeks Later," where the husband abandons his wife in the cottage to the zombies.  Hey, I can kind of understand that situation.  We're talking about saving your own ass from a bunch of crazed zombies.  But crap, Art, you left us with FREAKING, BRAIN-DEAD, SOUL-SUCKING NOORY!!!  All because of some streaming issues???  ARRRRRRGGHHH!!!

Ill have to see that one. I liked 28 Days Later.
SPOILER ALERT****
At the end of 28 Days it seemed that they were more or less out of the woods and life could get back to something resembling normal.

It wasn't bad for a zombie movie.  I just happened to catch it on the tube a week or so ago. I'm a big fan of the original "Night of the Living Dead" and good 'ol Vincent Price's "Last Man on Earth."  Those two movies terrified me when I was a kid, when The Nooron was slobbering over Morgus.  ::)

Way back when Noory was subbing for Art he was infinitely better. As we have learned he was mimicking Art and was motivated because he could see that Art was leaving. There is an old saying that  says you don`t want to be the one that follows the legend but rather the one that follows the one that follows the legend. After Art there was some dullard out of San Francisco that was booted for being unbelievably boring (forget his name) so,as luck would have it, Art utters "George gets it" and it`s been a plague of non sequiturs ever since.

Again,no one "endures" George. At that time of night his hilarious stupidity is the best thing on.I`d rather snigger at George than listen to stale replays.PremRat knows this so they figure "What the hell?"

And there was the part about how "the spotlight" followed him into the crowd.  What an ego.

So George writes the foreward for a book that claims St. Paul was an "anti-christ?"

A book that claims the man who wrote over 50 percent of the New Testament is an "anti-christ?'  A man who was canonized a saint by the Catholic church?

That should go over really well with the listeners who consider themselves Christians.

VtaGeezer

Some of Monday guest Gleason's claims were disturbing, but when he quoted Revelations chapter & verse his credibility evaporated.  No need to link the likely inevitability of a nuclear extinction event with the ever-malleable allegory of a 1st Century mystic of dubious origins. Ever since the utter stupidity that resulted in Three Mile Island, I've assumed that fucking with the permanence of nuclear toxicity would eventually do in mankind...and most everything else.
