...And if Noory is in purgatory, are we in hell for listening to him on and off for 10 years ? Or is listening to him hell enough ?

I catch bits and pieces of the Nooron but don't usually listen for long.  It does intrigue me, though, to this day such a brain-dead klutz is allowed to host a major talk show.  Any self-aware, semi-intelligent being must think they're in hell if they're listening to Noory.

Again......I listen because there are SOME guests who take over  the conversation.  They don't allow Noory to interrupt.....and in their passionate pursuit, I find  relevant information and entertainment.   When Noory begins to interject his flimsy and simplistic statements such as:  "That's rivoting, truly, that is true, amazing, that is true as well, etc...etc...etc..."   or even worse, he attempts to comment with his famous non sequitors.....then I HOPE AND PRAY that an INTELLIGENT GUEST will choose to ignore Noory and continue with a monologue which delivers the information addressing the topic.

Agreed.

I always feel bad when I hear an intelligent, passionate guest being thrown completely off their train of thought by a stupid comment from Snorge. Even worse, when they just get confused and have no idea how to respond. It makes me cringe.

However, I do love it when guests completely ignore Snorge's inane, ridiculous statements and just keep going. Better yet, when they laugh at him and then push on, it makes my little, black heart grow two sizes.

This is serious.  I just cancelled my Coast Insider.

Have you finally converted to the dark side?

I can't find it, but there is a video out there where George fell in a mud puddle walking down the street.  It's pretty damn funny.

Me, too. I can read valdez' recaps for free and not miss anything. It's been posted here before, but the 'survey' they ask you to fill out when you quit is hilarious.

Maybe if enough smart people quit their subscriptions (why ever did you even put money in Snooron's pockets??), we can yank Snooron from the airwaves and have him replaced with someone human and intelligent.

I am on auto-renewal.  My intention was to shift my subscription to John Wells's new show, "Caravan to Midnight", and I do not have endless funds to subscribe to radio shows.

Then, I go read about his show last night.  No,. . back to Coast.  Yes, I resubscribed.

Because I write in the genre, as a second job, I need to stay fluent in the subjects.  I am however, going to spend some prior Coast time trying those Indie podcasts.  I am an Indie writer, I support Indie!

Others here have tried to answer that question with varying degrees of success, but here goes:

Technically, the Insider money doesn't go into Noory's pocket, but is part of the Clear Channel revenue stream. I don't have numbers, but I doubt that if every Insider subscriber quit tomorrow it would affect Noory's tenure as host. Not enough money.

For nearly twenty years I had a second job that had me in my car from midnight to six AM or so, six days a week. I started listening to Art in '96 and ended up with ten years of Noory. Talk radio here is either C2C or Redeye Radio (currently), and I had already heard the 35 songs that all the classic rock radio stations play ad nauseum, so C2C it was.

I can say that listening to C2C in the car every night (when you have to be there anyway) is a different experience from making the time and adjusting your schedule to listen at home. You (I, anyway) are more tolerant of Noory's shortcomings and tend to concentrate on the guests. It's easy to reach over and turn the car radio off during the commercial breaks, too.

When I finally quit that job, I had the idea of starting a C2C-related website, mostly focused on the guests and their information, with links to the guests' books, a forum to discuss the guests, a blog and some other features. I had the site about 80% done when I sat down and listened to 14 days worth of C2C shows and realised that I didn't want to be a part of such a trainwreck, mostly because of Noory's incompetence (though I don't think much more of Wells) and that's when I cancelled my membership.

I take the view I am supporting the genre, not soley Coast.

Even Mortimer Snerd would be a better host than Noory.
Now if they'd get rid of all those Carnivoora and other patent medicine commercials ...

Shame on you Falkie. Are you posting that you know GN is a puppet controlled by the puppeteer and you're trying to mock the puppet? Perhaps you should study some Eastern wisdom based philosophies.

God, yes........the cringe inducing stupid moments are just horrible.  Your post says it all........I agree 100%!

Only Eastern  philosophies I know are chipped ham, Klondike bars and Primanti sandwiches.
As for Noory being a corporate puppet, that insults puppets and marionettes everywhere.

Just moving this from another thread over here . . . because it's awesome.

That is awesome. It is what George would look like as a Dementor. Very fitting- sucking all the hope, happiness and goodness out of your soul....

Sorry you believe GN is Premier Radio's big cheese. And I don't mean that as the bait in a mouse trap. Art was better skilled in getting out of that trap.

;) it's a G.Nooray Sucks thread, and the only "Live" thread that occurs when the show is on, but overall - because he's George!  :P

Keep digging.
I have my mining gear, and enjoy geology - so we might be here a while, as I go over every stone/dirt pile while digging.

Its all my fault. I wrote Noory that it was driving people nuts to have him keep saying 'off the Pacific Ocean'.  We sent about 4 e-mails back and forth about it.

That phrase used to bother me too .....
The other phrase was 'somewhere deep below the earth' ........
