Ah, that would make sense.  Dawn did still look pretty good for 82 and was still recognizable from her Gilligan’s Island days.

I find it hilarious, though, with Dave Norway constantly bungling his verbal attempts while supposedly having a degree in, of all things, Communications.  ::)
I wonder if his alma mater lists him as a prominent graduate- and if any of his professors even have listened to him on C2C. Spilling coffee on his tweet jacket with elbow patches thinking "I gave this guy a passing grade?!!" And quickly trying to scrub the online records lest his colleagues discover he had done so.

Prof Rechtenberg was a good guest and good ideas. He managed to not to sink into the morass made by Dave's questions or fall into the trap of some conspiracy callers- without offending them. "Not my area of expertise" which is a valued line when C2C has serious, legitimate guests on.

Prof McCanney got a laugh out of me when he said that he didn't want to debate Nancy Lelder and get into that mess.

Yep Dawn Wells looks good in this photo taken about 3 years ago with Norway's little buddy Billy Mumy...

That story was the first normal anecdote I've heard Mr.Norway say. I recall being a ring-bearer and, like the guest who was a flower-girl, drinking at the reception. Me as a little kid not realizing what a champagne fountain was for the adults. Dave wanted to make it clear that he was not named after his mother Georgette.

Dave's comments about Dawn Wells being 82 but 'still looking the same' in the re-runs of Gilligan's Island was hilarious. I'll give him an excuse and hope he was trying to express that maybe she still looked good at her current age as she did back then, as a compliment. But in his bungling way he just couldn't express it properly. I find it hard to believe that an adult, even a kid, wouldn't understand that people always will look the same on a recording. But it is certainly possible in his case.

Yep, that was funny how George emphasized that he wasn't named after his mother.

There's this one anecdote from George's childhood that I like because it's very touching and poignant. I've only heard him tell it one time. When he was a kid, he had a pet turtle who bit his finger. In an effort to dislodge the turtle, George accidentally flung his beloved pet against the wall and broke its shell.

George said he tried to glue the shell back together, but apparently was unsuccessful. I get sad thinking how disconsolate he must have been.

This photo of Dawn Wells was taken three years ago? I wonder what kind of moisturizer she used!

He needs to stop telling that traumatic pet story.  If he is going to share the story at all, he should remind people of the adult moral to the story, instead of getting stuck inside a child's brain.  He shouldn't tell the story at all, but if he has to, the moral should be, "be sensitive to when a pet is frightened and leave your temper at the door when interacting with small animals, women, and children."

Just the way Dave likes it.

Norway continues the shrinkage of the annual c2cam New Year's predictions tradition.
Art Bell used to devote the entire week between Christmas and New Year's to collect caller only predictions with NO guests!
Norway reduced this at first to two nights, often covered by guest hosts to collect caller predictions.
But in recent years he reduced it further to a single night and now he adds guests in the first couple hours to reduce the caller portion to under 2 hours, a new low!
Art used to collect over 100 caller predictions for the new year, but Noory will probably be lucky to get ten now...

Dave is “The hardest working man in radio.”  Anything over a few of the regular callers would be way too much stress.

I was hoping Ian or Syrett would be guest hosting and do a real show. Ian handled a good prediction show years ago and Syrett would at least get some new 'interesting' callers. But Dave doesn't like open lines and doesn't like long segments. Can he draw a clock? I wish him good health but he is sounding even more bumbling and less focused than usual recently. And FEB is approaching, which is very scary for him. No surprise he cuts predictions and verifications back to 10 minutes or so. SIT should replay some old Art ones. See how they held up decades later!

I don't believe that I've heard the turtle tale before. I guess he redeemed himself when he cured that barkeeps cancer by laying hands on him.

Well, the reason I liked that turtle story is because I thought it softened George and made him seem more human. But of course the moral you stated is one that everyone should learn, and I imagine he did even at that young age.

The turtle tale was very sad. I don't remember if George actually said his pet passed away, but I presume it did because I'm not sure if turtles can live without their shells.

Ha, I haven't heard George's story about curing anyone's cancer. I've heard those two quackpots from Critical Health News imply they've cured people of cancer as well as diabetes.

another old bat with psychic powers. this is Noory's speed. she just said Covid will decline in March, 'good energy', couldn't be that viruses decrease in warmer weather now could it.
Biden is going to be arrested soon.

last night it was 2 male charlatans, at least Hogue has a good act and *sounds* intelligent. this woman sounds like a gabby grandma at the beauty parlor whose entire knowledge base comes from the National Enquirer.

amazing conversation here.

PsychicOldBat: My daughter has 5 dogs.
Noory: WOW!

Morgus

My predictions are that Norway will have all of his regular callers call in for these open lines for the rest of tonight's show.
Look for Mike the Millennial, Cornelius, Barry, and many of the others...

Morgus

Norway is taking calls but sounds like besides predictions he wants caller tales of covid, so he is turning it into general open lines...

Here is 'ole Bill the AAA, his prediction from last year was a BONK.
For 2021 he has a space prediction that an upcoming Mars probe lander will detect microbes on Mars resulting in disclosure.

They should get someone named "Michael Milquetoast." More than half the audience would think it sophisticated.

Morgus

And here is Barry and Cornelius both calling in - I correctly predicted all of them :D

Morgus

Sounds like Noory is going to cut out early as he often does on Friday nights and go to an old replay for the last half hour.
He couldn't even manage to do a full 2 hours of open lines much less New Year predictions... :P

Cornelius sounds pretty delighted Papa kicked the bucket. He thinks it was Coast 2 Coast which kept him alive for as long he did live. I don't think Papa was a Coast listener, just the vibrations from Coast kept him going.

George now claims his father was buried with military honors and that the US flag that draped the coffin he gave it to his son. There's nothing that comes out of Noory's mouth that can be taken as the truth.

Ha!  Dave is so predictable.  :D

lol even when Noory has a good point he finds a way to mess it up

he was talking to a guest a couple nights ago and as has become more frequent the conversation got around to age/death. So George is telling the guest that he's going to go on as the host of Coast as long as he can and as somebody else described in a post here he had Tommy describe what the plan is when George drops dead on air. George then opined that retirement is bad for people, it will kill you, and he uses his father as an example. 'Well look at my dad, he worked as a financial analyst for the Ford Motor Company, he retired at 60. And while Dad loved his family and stuff he didn't really do anything, he didn't play golf or have hobbies.' So the guest responds 'Yes I agree, that's too bad about your father.' Of course the guest thinks Noory's dad died young because he retired and had nothing to stimulate him.  The man lived to ALMOST 90, completely crumbling George's theory.  Pops Noory lived almost 30 years of retirement.

first time i'd ever heard him say what his father did at Ford - i always wondered if he was on the production line or a suit.

And back when companies would pay out pensions for your life. I knew a guy who retired back in the early 70's and died in 2015 or so. Fully paid pension all those years. Can you imagine a company doing that these days? Basically a life time of work, without working. And he wasn't even an executive, just a worker to mid-level manager at an oil company.

Is everyone in the Norway family named a version of George? It is like the Foreman family, without the boxing chops, indoor grills, or ability to quip funny lines.

albrecht

Worst New Years show ever. Mr.Norway set a new low. It was expected but still disappointing. That, I guess, is impressive. To perform worse than even presumed suckage. He also cut off the "Learned Elders of Zion" caller so was paying attention, so can't blame inattention or booze or whatever was going on to cause bumbling, slurring, and lame questions.
