Best line I heard in a long time:

Richard:  Do you have any idea how many comets pass through the area on a yearly basis?

George:  More than I can count.

Richard:  Over 100!
oh god, is this some good therapy or what?

I had a random thought-

For those of you who are Phil Hendrie fans and know of the Bobbie Dooley character,

George reminds me of Steve Dooley when a guest is talking. Both George & Steve add random bits of worthless info during the conversation. Both are about as intelligent.
now all we need is for george to host a show on topiaries.

Burbank~! Probie!

What in the fuck are you up to now!?

What happened to 'AldousBurbank'?

Got tired of that too, huh?

Just another replay of when we took acid in Nam, man.

You nut!

Mr. Burbank has just returned from 3 weeks investigating whether or not Roger and Lena are the same person.  Results:  Lena was much funnier and smarter, so, no.

Happy to be back.  Am looking forward to catching up on all the coastgab postings, except possibly for yours, my spitfire fellow poster:)

Hey, Aldous!! ;D

Welcome to you back!!   :)
Thanks TW, and Onan, and of course the Anagrammy (sorry about the postponed lunch date), for checking in on me during my fadeaway.  It's funny how much I missed reading your alls postings, like I was skipping class and missing out on some friendly interactions.  There are some interesting people in this world and quite a few of them populate this forum.  I am grateful for this little oasis of fun and a certain sensibility.

Personally, I have been purposely avoiding posting something along the lines of Marc Knight's recent note that life circumstances seem to be shaving off our disposable time capability.  But in fact, my time for anything other than a serious redirecting of the Burbank family circumstances will be extremely limited in the next few weeks to months.  A long avoided exodus out of my home state seems to now be at our doorstep.  I have spent the past 3 weeks making arrangements for our soon-coming departure.  Goodbye Arizona- your saguaros will always serve as my personal banner, always flowering and fruiting in my heart.  We hope to return, perhaps in 2012, but fortunes change and reconfigure themselves when we least expect, and most need it.

I will continue to lurk even when not active here so don't think it's something Roger said :)  All in all, things are going well us, but times are tough, and witness protection programs are a bitch.  Be well, be funny, George sucks, thanks Michael V!

NOT A THING, girlfriend, that was AWESOME!  And so, so true.

You should have seen the muu-muu older ladies taking turns posing with George.  Next time I go I am going to 1) hide my identity and, 2) take tons of pictures to post here.

Space guy Robert Zimmerman is cool, and, try as he might, George can't screw up an interview with him, although, in an odd moment, George asked him if he had written a certain movie, and Zimmerman said no, then George rattled off a list of other movies and Zimmerman said, "I don't know what you're talking about."  Later with astrophysicist Bernard Haisch, George asked him all the questions he always asks these guys, and seems to never retain the answers.  How many times does someone have to explain to George what the "Schroeder's Cat" experiment is?  Or that the universe has no end?  It's like Groundhog Day, with George doing the same interview, over and over again, until one day, maybe, he gets it right.

My DVD Shelf:  'Groundhog Day' (BluRay)

I think the world could end and we would still have prompt, well written accounts of C2C delivered to a non-existent Coasgab every day.  Thanks for the work.

Oh boy. You've all gotta read this. I'm sure you all know about George Noory and his 2012 presidential run, but this is just way too good of fodder not to post. ;)

I didn't know he was thinking about a 2012 run.  I didn't know he was thinking about a 2008 run.  Heck, I didn't know he was thinking.

Thanks, Mark, although I have been known to miss a day or two.

Gerald Celente ticked me off a while back, but I suppose he's a smart, straight shooting guy, and always worth a listen. Dr. Elizabeth Plourde on the horrors of sunscreen.  Evidently it gets in the ocean water and wipes out sea life.  So to combat skin cancer she suggest carrying an umbrella, or a burka.  Whatever you say, crazy environmentalist psycho lady. Nora Gedgaudas on how to live longer on a diet of water and eggs.  I'm sure these psycho health food vitamin fascist are 100% right, but they sure make for boring radio.

Interesting thing about this is that even back in 2008, no mention whatsoever of the fact that Noory's popularity and the huge success of C2C is due to Art Bell.

Steven Quayle on the assassination of 7 Russian scientist that were involved with the Iranian nuke program.  Sad. Carl Johan Calleman on how the Mayan Calendar may actually be ending on October 28th 2011.  This coincides with master con man Harold Campings new revised improved date of doom: Oct 21 2011.  George wondered: "What did the Mayans use their calendar for?"  Oh, I don't know, George, perhaps to remember birthdays and plan vacations?  Richard C. popped in to hawk a web seminar that he and Calleman will be hosting this morning.  The subject of which is a Comet, named Elenin, which is scheduled to fly by Earth in....October.
George mentioned that his bosses were "happily bewildered" by his ratings success.  Bewildered.  Interesting choice of word.

I am by no means conspiratorial, however, place enough briefcases filled with $100 bills at the Kremlin's gate and anything can "just happen".

just like Trumpypoooh was going to run.  they do this shit to attract attention and boost ratings

I am listening to a replay from last night.  God this is terrible.  The guest has strange, "I'm in my brand new straight jacket" voice inflections that make him unlistenable.  George has his usual "don't bother me while I'm doing my taxes" demeanor.  One syllable responses to the guest and "let's go to the phones".

It isn't my imagination then, it IS getting worse-- you were away for a while and you came back to a new appreciation of the suckage.  I was going to listen and document the whole mess and I cracked, man, I just couldn't go through with it.  I'd order my fingers to click on C2C and of their own volition they went to Trainwreck or Somewhere in Time.

We used to say he was phoning it in but now that the ratings are up despite his terrible performance, he is like Whatever Man.  Why bother phoning when you can text it in.

Uh, huh, absolutely, it's East of the Rockies...

I thought so too, Valdez.  Now why would George admit to God and everybody that his bosses couldn't believe he had high ratings (if indeed that's really true)?

The man is a walking, talking, knuckle-dragging conundrum.  ???

We were happily bewildered when a chimpanzee got a hole in one on a difficult golf course. That's how Noory's phrase came across to some of us.

Rested and ready, George opens up a can of major suckage.  Beginning with Lauren Weinstein on the Supreme Court decision on video games, they got on to the subject of an antitrust lawsuit against google, and George asked, "is google a big company?"  He also wondered if Supreme Court decisions affected the whole country.  Huh?  Are you kidding, George?  If you don't know the answer to that, you don't need to be there, and if you're asking that on behalf of your listeners, you don't need to be there.  Later, Robert Stanley told us about aliens living in Washington DC, in an underground complex, flying around with special "permits", and also something about a demon cat in the Capitol building.  After this weekend. with Knapp and cop hater Ian asking serious questions about serious things, it's frustrating to listen to somebody ramble on with such lunacy without being asked for even a little tiny piece of evidence.
