i think the thing i dislike most about George is the eFoods direct and goldscam.com ads.  sure he's a terrible host.  but to listen to those ad spots over and over again is pure torture.  i've been listening to live shows on my friend's streamlink acct.  i was streaming the C2C shows from a Canadian radio station this past Summer and it just made me miserable.  though it was interesting to listen to the difference between Canadian radio and American.  there is a difference btw.  Canadian radio isn't filled with vitriol, anger and paranoia.  i'm not saying we need to start lacing the water supply with anti-psychotics but it might not be a bad idea to start thinking about it


and i also can't stand the new work at home ads.  if it were that easy, everyone would be doing it

Interesting observations.  Although this is a generalization, you will find the Canadian mainstream media to be much more objective with the delivery of news.  U.S. media, sociologically, has become very emotion-based as opposed to rational.  This whole topic could be a treatise by itself.

I know I sound like I have little patience with most US citizens, thats because it is true. But to be fair I do see that most people work at jobs that drain them of their vitality but pay them just enough to drag their asses back to work the next week. Is it each person's responsibility to grow beyond that kind of despair? I suppose but I do understand that many instead of taking control of their lives and their government they seek solace in watching way too much tv and believing what they are watching is relevant. So "Dancing With the Stars" becomes important because imo most people are so beaten down they have no ability to sift through the mind-numbing humdrum that passes for intellectual stimulation and informative news.

agreed.  the crappy pay, high cost of living (there's that damn phrase again), and the impending doom of having to talk to a doctor at some point.  that's what has chained most Americans to a life of pure shit.  and they become escapists just to cope.  why else would we worship celebrities the way we do.  it's ridiculous.  i left the TV on the other day and Access Hollywood came on.  what a sad pathetic show that is.

American entertainment has become an alternative reality of vicarious experience instead of real, imagined conflict instead of real, projected weight loss and vacarious triumphs over inertia while indulgers sit on the sofa and satisfy the only appetite which cannot be realized in proxy: eating.  Having found itself impotent in a political system contaminated beyond imagination and corrupted equally, choosing between the political parties is like (as my activist daughter suggested) "two wings of the same predatory bird."

They play us on a daily basis and everyone knows it.  We're fed up and since we can't do anything about it --trowing da bums out no longer works-- but we are not reaching for guns as Glenn Beck pitifully suggested.  We are simply investing in the Underground.  We are fighting the Maze of Mystery, the Matrix of our society by trading, growing our own food, getting paid under the table, paying under the table and in every way possible cutting the greedy overlords out of our lives. 

What you see on TV is their continued sucking off the misery of the average person.  These vultures have been feeding off the middle class forever and their rise to power is not perfectly obvious to everyone, all ages, all classes, all races.  They would love to pit us against each other (which is why they haven't solved the immigration problem, BTW) and stand back while we reduce the population by killing each other.  But they underestimate the intelligence and resourcefulness of the American average person.

Here in Northern California, the area Beck claims is poised for revolution, we are actually working hard to prepare for the day the electricity goes down.  What causes it is immaterial--it is a vulnerable system and can be brought down by natural disasters like wind, for god's sakes.  Our satellites crisp and we're all breaking out the camping gear and asking who has matches.  So prepare to live as independently as possible while protecting the rights we have left from the fear of the masses who are daily being brainwashed via television. 

Vote for your own independence today. Get rid of your tv. Just watch what you want through your computer www.hulu.com.  Free your own brain first (yeah, like grab your oxygen mask first) from their materialistic grasp.  Get streamlink and don't submit your mind to their RIDICULOUS gold-fear manipulation.  Gold has relative value.  Take away your electricity and hang on for the slide down to the Stone Age without a nuclear explosion.  Bada-bing, gold instantly has NO value. 

I have a friend who listens compulsively to talk radio.  I argued with him last night about Glenn Beck encouraging violence.  He honestly did not think it was irresponsible to say "You will have to shoot them in the head....millions will die."  He didn't think that crazies might be influenced by that.  He said it was a parable, an exaggeration to make a point.  WTF?

So, your choice is where are you going to stop your own pot before you become boiled frog?  Still have a microwave?  Remote phone?  Eating Aspertame?    I'm curious to know if any of you have made lifestyle changes because of what you've learned on Coast?

Well, and this might be heresy in this forum, but I always thought of Coast to Coast as part of the "American entertainment" you refer to earlier in your post.  Mel's Hole, Madman Markham, JC, Ed Dames, Richard C Hoagland, etc., etc. - that's entertainment!  Sure, Art had Michio Kaku, Seth Shostak, and other legitimate scientific minds on the show, but the wacky stuff was far more frequent than the serious.  Some time ago Art did an interview (can't remember where) where he pretty much admitted that most of the stuff that his guests spouted was entertaining bunk, and that what was really interesting was the 5 percent that "might" be real.

So, no, I have not changed my life because of things I have "learned" on coast.  I have bought some interesting books because the authors were interviewed on coast (Kaku, Shostak, "The Lost City of Z" when Ian had the author on), but I certainly haven't started eating more turmeric, bought a C Crane radio, or invested in gold.  I have also not made a tinfoil hat, built a bomb shelter, or learned to speak Mandarin

i don't know if it was Knapp or Ian that was hosting but they did a show about the environmental impact of bottled water and i haven't bought bottled water since.  i used to buy it by the case at Target but i simply can't continue knowing the demand that behavior creates for plastic (petroleum product) and the fact that a lot of these bottles wind up in landfills or just strewn wherever.  i recycle EVERYTHING but decided if only that it would save me $5/case that i would do it.  besides ... if you reduce the amount of material that you use so you don't have to recycle, everyone's better off as the recycling process creates waste byproducts itself.  i chose the reuse route: i bought a $10 Nalgene bottle and a Brita pitcher (that i already had - new filters help) and i'm just drinking filtered tap water these days.

i think our education system is failing us.  our system was initially designed to make shaved apes only smart enough to work in a factory and turn a wrench.  or if the shaved ape went to college ... they ideally became an engineer so they could help design stuff that the other shaved apes would be assembling in the factory.  as we have transferred to a mostly information based (instead of manufacturing based) economy, we need to raise the bar a little and start teaching people how to think and use their reasoning and critical thinking parts of their brains.  not just the .. put the bolt here and turn wrench parts of their brains. 


maybe i'm generalizing ... i was raised in a small town in Ohio.  you either went to work in a factory, became an engineer of some sort, or were involved in agriculture.  or became a school teacher and got busy ruining the next batch of childrenz

It has taken a long time for me to admit George Noory is the problem. I think he is probably a nice guy, but he just doesn't have the intellectual depth to address the fantastic and the fanciful appropriately and entertainingly. Additionally it appears he makes little, or no effort to broaden his knowledge.

I still try to listen occasionally, but quickly find myself easily, and happily diverted. I guess it's for the best since I sleep a lot more.

I'm relatively new to this forum, but I wanted to say, you aren't missing anything by not listening. I agree with you, in that most of the bunk was made interesting by Art and George just can't cut it. In fact, his stupidity is almost just too painful to hear. Tonight he interviewed Johnathan Gray. A caller told a story illustrating that his native American relatives had an old family/tribal stories which included facts the early storytellers should not have been privy to about outer space including the fact that if you threw something in space it wouldn't stop until it came into contact with an obstacle. Completely missing the point of the story, the ever moronic George asked, "That's really interesting. Hey, what are the physics behind that?" Groan. I love listening to the old Art shows. They are as interesting today as the first 5 times I heard them.

     Cool cat fight between John Curtis (Obama fan) and Greg Hunter (not so much) who came on to talk about the President's speech but evolved into a complicated argument about the economy (printing money, deficits, percentage growth of the GDP, ect) and at one point George interupted them with, "hey guys, on a scale of one throught ten, how would you rate the speech?", which is symbolic of what George does best: dumb things down.  They both answered his question (8 & 2) and continued the fight.  A minute later, in the mist of the heated disscussion, George blurts out, "I give him a five."  Yeah.  That's taking a stand George.  Shut up and let the grown ups talk.
     Jonathan Grey was on to talk about Ancient mysteries.  We've only had about ten shows on this subject already this year.  Somebody needs to throw away George's rollerdex of topics and force him to do something new.  I did like how Grey dissmised the theories of the late Zecharia Stichin as being backed by "no evidence".  George, who is a big fan, admirer, and believer of Stichin's ideas, did not come to his defence.  He never does.

Just an idea for you man, my family recently switched over to Sodastream (http://www.sodastreamusa.com/) and it's been absolutely fantastic. We now spend about a tenth of what we used to on beverages and we have significantly cut down on waste and recycling as we use the same re-useable bottles over and over again. I would recommend you check it out. I personally am a club soda fanatic and used to drink two 2-liter bottles of it a day but now it's just as simple as walking over to the sink and filling up my bottle of water with literally little cost and no trash.

Also, I have an epic profanity laced tirade in me about the American Education system and how it basically mind-fucks one generation after the next... but this isn't the time or place for it. Suffice it to say, my kids will never be going to a public school.

    Sir Charles Shults III is one of C2C's best guest.  He seems to know everything about everything (actually, he told some caller who asked him about web bots that he knows nothing about it, so maybe not everything, but damn near), has a calm and authoritative voice, and dances around George's dumb questions with the class and finesse of Fred Astaire.  Cool guy.  Always worth a listen.

@ GuerrillaUnreal ... thanks for the heads up on the sodastream thingy.  i don't drink soda really.  the only carbonated thing i drink is beer and then only once in a while.  though i might start drinking more often now that i know the grocery by my house carries Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout.  best beverage EVER.
