We've seen how excited you can get over Dave, SciFi.  I'll spare us all from posting the porpoise porno again.  ;)

Porpoise porno ?

That's Noory's show prep.

( rimshot )

I listened to the open lines portion last night.. I thought...thought..I thought I heard it all before.
Oh yea.. I did.

I realize I have not laughed much lately.  Perhaps it's because I've been sNoory-free since September 16th.  Maybe I'll go back for the laughs.
sNoory - Next, we have Mary Ann from New Jersey.  What's up, MA?

Spot On.  I wish there was some other option, even a straight interview show like Larry King, but there isn't.  Sports talk is awful these days, too.

I can't stand sports talk radio, NiT...  It sounds mostly like a couple of high school sophomores who think they're brilliant.  I get very tired of the smirky, juvenile insights.  I'm good for about two minutes once every couple weeks.  (Hey, that's what my wife says about me!  ::))

Keith had some of this streaming during his test the other day.  I was captivated by the Russian lady's pronunciation of "November".   Then like two days latter George covers the topic.
Just a  co-ink-a-dink I guess

I see the upcoming week's schedule for c2cam is up tonight.
It appears Noory is still 'poaching' recent Art Bell guests - he has Timothy Good scheduled for next week...

I saw that.
Isn't it "a little soon"?
Wasn't there 3 weeks between the Ghostbuster Gals on DM and C2C when sNoory canned them?

Open lines are almost non existent on c2c now. Probably for the better because Noory is just not got with them.

He is a better caller for open lines, and the dude who does the grabcast is a better host.

In Saturday night desperation, I'm listening on tunein.com to Dave Shrader on Darkness Radio.  Every so often I unmute the sound to see if he's still reading from a book. An hour later he still is.  If I were 5 years old, I'd probably be loving it.

This is the first time I've tried DR.  Anyone know if reading spooky stories is Shrader's main game?

EDIT:  I should have posted this sooner.  Now he's reading emails, which is better.  Still hoping to find this show to be a keeper. Nothin' else on, that's fer sure.  ::)

TumbleWeed

Not sure If i am going to tune into the Next issue of " FearMonger Monthly" tonight.

Lucas gave in to the idiot that forgot how to write a story side. Gaaaaaaaah! I mean, it would have be soooooooooooooo freaking easy to write a decent IJ script. But no, he had to give us alien skulls and a dull story right when Harrison Ford could still pull off the acting. The whole thing gave me tantalizing tidbits that made me wonder what might have been but otherwise made me want to overdose on Nyquil and end it. Wasted opportunity!  And Jar Jar? What? *Smack* Jesus George! *Smack, Smack, Smack* It would have been so freaking easy, EASY, to make a satisfactory SW movie. But no! You gave us Jar Jar! *Sobs*

Jeeeeesus. Noory, hold me. I can't take it anymore.

*Burp*. So anyone else drinkin' brandy  and pepsi?

In a sense. I'm drinking Christian Brothers Holiday Nog while eating pumpkin pie with an orange Fanta chaser.
I stopped drinking Pepsi after years of doing so. It now irritates my stomach.
The Pennyslvania Dutch stuff which has brandy, whiskey and egg nog in it is much better.
And it comes from Pennsylvania which gives it a +2 saving throw.

Close enough. You have pumpkin pie? WTF, share that that shit. If Noory was here, he'd ask if you brought enough for everybody and then confiscate it.

I'm with you. (Including the Lucas thing.) I, too, did not like the Oates jab nor do I care for George's current avatar with a king's crown.  Be careful not to count chickens just yet, GN.
But given the pall of radio (choices like Levin, Savage, Hannity, Cunnigham, Malkin, Ingraham, and the rest of the echo chamber) or pale imitators like Ground Zero, I have to give C2C credit for staying on top.
I mean, the other night Ground Zero tried some lame ass "ghost in the studio" dick around worthy of Dish Nation.  Come on.

Right, I'm not big on the king's crown thing either. But damn, you hear what else is on. Everyone says, very weakly, that George isn't good to callers. Um, no, George is a freaking saint to his callers compared to Savage or Levin. So he misspeaks, that isn't shit compared to some of the interviewers on NPR.

Art is extremely talented. Noory takes the heat for not being exactly what Art was. Well, no one could have filled that void. This thread should have been called *insert name here* sucks.

That's not to say that I agree with Noory's actions, Oates was bad news. But I'm just sayin'.

I have another pumpkin pie in the freezer and a 21 lb turkey thawing in the fridge.
Should be ready to cook for Monday Night Football.
Come on over.

Looney Radio with $noory and Tommy.
Oh, gah. Could you imagine sports talk with $noory and how he'd garble the names of the players ?

And then my call.
More about the egg nog later.

I'd love seeing Jorch added to ESPN TV, joining Mark May and Lou Holtz.  With Jorch, they'd have somebody who is more arrogant than May and is less intelligible than Holtz.  Actually, Jorch could replace both of them and argue with himself, with Tommy's help, of course.

No. Noory takes the heat for being an utterly incompetent broadcaster. This would be true of him regardless of what type of show he was presenting. Comparisons to Art don't help Noory, obviously, but they are beside the point. And this thread has meticulously chronicled the suckage of Noory which is uniquely his and - in my opinion from 50+ years of listening to radio - without parallel.

SciFiAuthor

20 seconds of Diane Rehm blows that out of the water. What's really telling about this thread is the variance in just why people think Noory sucks. I noticed that early on, many people have different ideas on what specifically sucks. That's a red flag right there. It's starting to happen the same way in the quit thread against Art. Same old story, same old herd instinct, same old mob mentality.

As twilight zone freaky as the last three months has been, we could well end up seeing Art less popular and more maligned than Noory on here. It's certainly been that way this past week. Imagine, after a few months of spread and drift, what those people will say about Art.

You have entrenched yourself so deeply in your preconceived notion that you are making claims you can't prove.

Try picking at http://www.random.org/random random 30 numbers from 1-39,355 (total posts) and then examine the 30 posts that match the numbers and write down the complaints about George the post lists.

You can navigate to specific posts by replacing the bold below with the post number you are looking for: still trying to figure this out, I need to see how simple machines handles this.

I can't say that, SciFi.  If we'd been fortunate to have George Knapp take over when Art left, I don't think we'd have seen the same degree of displeasure that's shown for Noory.  I'm sure some folks would have had issues with Knapp but I just don't see it anywhere to the same degree as it is for Noory.

Noory's very good at keeping the suits at PremRat happy and apparently has a different audience from Art, to put it politely.  It's just too bad that he sucks at being an intelligent and talented radio broadcaster.

Actually, it's fairly easy to prove. I'll give you a glaring example. Bleef. That was one of the main complaints about Noory during the time I was actively defending him. I listened for it but never heard it. But notice how it's completely gone now. Why? Because someone in another thread suggested that Art did it too. Bam, it was never brought up again. It never had a basis, only that someone said it and it expanded from there. Once it was discredited, valid or not, it went away. Check through the thread, you'll see it.

And that's the herd instinct. If you say something in just the right way at the right time you can perpetuate just about anything you want within a mob. It's been a political tactic for centuries, and people really do react to it in measureable, predictable ways.

Here's another: Noory's lisp. It doesn't exist. Listen for it, you won't hear it. Someone somewhere suggested it at some point, and everyone had the motive to jump on the bandwagon. But when you go and look for it, guess what, it's not there.

Are there legitimate criticisms of Noory? Sure. I have a big one, the Oates affair was a blatant crack at Art. But can the herd instinct turn a bunch of people into a mob and discourage dissent? You bet your ass it can, and it damned nearly happened in the Quit thread tonight before Art and Paul damage controlled it.

I think they would have. I think anyone in that seat was a target, and all it would take to set off the shit storm would be one wrong comment by the host or some post by someone that caught on until it finally sank Knapp in the crapper. That's what happened with Wells, he started out liked and then just a few words somewhere down the line put him on the herd instinct shit list, despite him flagrantly being the most professional radio broadcaster of the C2C lineup as far as delivery.

I don't mean to disparage Knapp, he's certainly my favorite on C2C, and clearly a professional reporter and has been around in the field forever, but he'd have had his time eventually and would have never recovered just like the other guys haven't.

No I disagree, the complaint is George mispronounces things, and yes he pronounced it as Beyond Bleef for the first week he plugged his new show. He mispronounces things every show.

Haven't heard it. I do hear him flub words and misspeak, but that's about it. I do think he misses obvious follow up questions because he's distracted, that would be a legit one.
