Any topic that makes you immediately turn off the show?

Oh boy. The second I hear "[Guest], people these days seem so on edge, like something is coming. Could these be the end times?"

BamaMike

When the topic is some right wing politics doomsdayer,  I switch to sports talk radio.

I got to say, Noory can take a borderline topic and turn it into a boring show and I switch, whereas Art could sometimes steer the guest into something interesting.

Scully

Alex Jones and all his ilk.  Fluoride. Health and Foods (tonight's unbelievable George Knapp-with-an-albatross-around-his-neck topic). Obama is evil and wants to kill your firstborn. Economics. Abiotic oil. Numerology, including the Numbers Lady. Astrology. Religion and Bible Studies 101. Doomsday.  Somethin's going on and everybody feels it. ... basically, anything George Noory gets really excited about.

Other than that, it's all good ... unless of course, Noory is hosting.  :P

George49

Any topic that George Boory is doing. I hate to say it but yes any topic. The somewhere in time shows with Art Bell blows any show away that Boory does.

stevesh

The only thing I won't listen to is Open Lines.

Topics i'm likely to turn off:

Angels
Comic Books
Movies and TV, especially Twilight Zone
True Crime
60-year-old UFO sightings
Anything Uri Geller has to talk about

texaskdog

I usually dont get to that point since I download and see the topics.  Linda Moulton Howe night is an automatic skip, no matter how interesting the guests may appear.

Frys Girl

I love to listen when Richard C. Hoagland is on. Why? I love to see Richard have to lick this fool's (Noory's) boots.

I know the day will come when Richard will crack and screams "You are so $%&*ing dumb. <Click>"

To address the topic here, however, I tune out in ALL religious subjects. Noory's approach is fake, and I'm suspicious of all the guests he brings on for this topic. Noory's favorite line when discussing religion "There has to be a God. There just has to be. What's the point of all this? There's something more. I just know it."
Poor God. With fans like these, who needs Lucifer?

b_dubb

numerology, most bigfoot shows, ancient aliens, hoagland, most UFO shows, basically any show that has noory as a host.  keep in mind that i'm a guy who has seen 3 UFO's and has a couple of awesome ghost stories.  Knapp and Punnet are the only hosts i'll bother listening to.  i tried listening to a couple of Noory hosted shows.  terrible

When I do listen I rarely turn it off because of the guest because I am always up for a laugh or train wreck.   The "Uh-uh-uhs" the "Droners" and the "God Squad" callers will make me snap the dial to off.  I also do not hesitate to turn the dial when Georgie's interruptions and digressions begin to frustrate me.

texaskdog

This is going to sound awful but any guest from England with the thick accent.  Cannot listen to 3 hours of it.

klaatu

Anything financial news or politics.  We can and do get that info. 24/7 on radio/t.v./net.  I expect C2C to be paranormal in nature, interesting, funny, scary, or a trainwreck, but please no rehash of day's news.  My 2 cents.

perry

Like the OP I also avoid any show with numerologists.

I always check the C2C site to check on upcoming show topics/guests to make sure I don't waste my time listening to psychics, end of times prophets, astral projectors, channelers, or any of the other new age trash.

I avoid Saturdays and any other day Ian is filling in, even if the topic is of particular interest to me. That man, I loathe.

To be honest, I've been tuning into the CoastGab feed more often than the live shows lately.

...Most of the topics don't interest me anymore. I've been listening since 97-98 and I realize that has a lot to do with my lack of interest. It's all been done before and much better. Now most of the shows focus on stuff like spirituality, NEDs and the rest of that airy-fairy crap. I think that's why I like Ian's stuff better. It's always a little different.

So they cloned me (or at least my experiences?)  I found this forum a couple of months ago and floated in and out (found when I searched for what happened to Art Bell.)  For roughly a year or year and a half prior to that I found that C2C was becoming background noise and that I no longer actively listened and found myself reaching for the dial more and more often.  I was wondering if it would be the same under Bell- did the topics just sort of "run out"... was there just nothing more to do with this format?

Suddenly, I would recall that it used to be a week of garbage followed by the sound of Art's voice and I knew that I could actually tune in again.  I guess that newer listeners will never have that epiphany and realize that it really is the direction the show is taking rather than the format responsible for weakening its potency. I still consider it a possibility that I recall the past with more fondness than it is deserving of... that as the show became more "main stream" it was bound to decline in quality regardless of the host at the mike.  I now believe that Art could not save the show in its present form as he would be stuck with a different audience, expectations and callers.

More topics are causing me to reach for that dial.  Top on the list is any time I hear about the ancient Sumerians (unless I am in the mood to laugh at somebody who most likely can not get words organized to form a coherent sentence.)  This is closely followed by anytime I hear LMH and hot on her heels is religion.  Now, I consider myself (somewhat) religious, but also consider most "representatives" (and not just on this show) to be very poor spokespeople and I hate listening to the garbage that most often flows.  Finally, more and more often open lines is a "no go" for me.

Perhaps you can tell by the time stamps on my posts that I am a "prime" candidate to listen- and I did indeed used to hear a good 80% of the shows.  I think I may be down to 20% over the last year and it continues in this state of free fall.  I suppose that I am only one listener in one market and he is bound to have me replaced by weeks end.

I have posted about Ian spending 4 hours on the guy who thinks he is a horse. Fair is fair. Ian did the best show in the last 2 years interviewing the woman who escaped from Iran and breaking news on activities at DESERT ONE. About the russians firing a surface to surface missle into DESERT ONE. Ian had a call during the break from an unamed former guest/intell officer who said he had heard the same story in intell circles
Good job Ian

Turn the dial ...Anything anti-science, anything regarding angels or demons, politics, Alex Jones, or prophecy, anything GN believes is probably a good rule of thumb.  Oh, the Ad Council Public Service commercials are often repeated so much that I can't take them anymore

End times, rapture, the Mark of the Beast (aka anything with Catherine whatsername, Austin Fitts or the other one), Corsi, Quayle, veiled Tea Party campaign shows, evangelical shows, creationist shows, "aliens-are-demons-from-satan" shows, abiotic oil shows, anti-vaccine shows, the-environment-is-fine shows, most angel shows, most political/financial shows, most food/health shows, birther and other anti-Obama conspiracy shows...I think most of you see the kind of thing that bugs me. :)

Jones and Hoagland are entertaining Trainwrecks, LMH is her own special brand of crazy but it's listenable. But all those (and probably others I'm forgetting) are just OUTTA HERE.

On the other hand...as for shows I WILL listen to...aliens and everything related, ghosts, hauntings, time travel, REAL crypto shows, parallel dimensions, multiverse, quantum physics, etc, etc, etc....those are all great topics.

Even miracles and angels can be all right if they're not overdone and not presented with a slant.

These public service commercials usually mean either the local or national show aren't getting enough advertising. It's almost always the local station struggling. It won't affect C2C, but it would be big trouble for a daytime show.

ANY BODY TALKING ABOUT THE BIBLE..  OR PREACHING

The numbers lady did a pretty good job of pissing me off when I was still occasionally listening to that shadowrat worshipping ass-sock Noory.
I'll listen to just about any Art show 8)

Anything uttered by Steve Quayle.  The man is a caffeinated ferret.  The sheer velocity of the verbal diarrhea he spews borders on the awe-inspiring.

Actually, I don't mind someone talking about The Bible or any texts for that matter, so long as the person is qualified. Most of the guests are not priests or theologians. They are hacks who can't find real jobs so they fall back on metaphysical BS . They're not even good at that!

this is exactly why I enjoy listening to him!

As for what makes me turn off the show, I'm not a fan of open lines. Not these days.
Really it's the topic they don't talk about that bugs me - art, and why he left rather abruptly.

I agree. I find it interesting when Ian discusses it, but not so much when Noory does. I can't believe he studied religion formally, he sounds like an idiot when he discusses it.

Noory is lying and full of shit as usual. You don't marry a 20 year old when you're a 60 y/o man to wind down. If that isn't proof that Noory gets absolutely NO PUSSY in his life, I don't know what is.
It pisses me off he has the audacity to even bring this up, and when he does, he has to lie about it.

I like the variety of stuff on Art's show. I don't listen if he isn't on. The other guys are dim at best.

1)Richard "Paranoia will destroy ya" Hoagland. The more I hear him the less I want to hear him. The worst recurring guest. One of the two that make me tune out immediately.

2)Ed Dames. The sky is falling fast. No thanks.

3) Politics or Religion or Guns. Who cares. Like it matters.

4)David Icke. He annoys me. Not sure why. The other one that makes me tune out immediately.

Most missed recurring guest for me is Terrence McKenna.

Frys Girl

I can tolerate numerology until it goes to open lines. I hate when Glynnis McCant goes on and on about why Billy John won't want to marry Susie Jane because 111 and 4 are not logical operators.

coaster

I avoid any shows dealing with "psychics", angels, politics, and health shows. That's pretty much all there is anymore.
