while I agree that the self-congratulatory fests are painful it is sort of like watching C-SPAN in that these characters influence society to a large degree and one gets the occasional funny episode due to their addictions, drunkeness, or general malaise or just their odd tributes and planned speeches- and so gain a bit of insight into their agenda since they control, at least now, the White House and much of what goes for education these days.

I hate how 1900's = 20th century.  I just can't ever remember which way the offset goes.  Why not just put the two terminologies in sync and for that pesky 0-99 A.D. range just call it the Zeroth Century.
