Bannon was an officer in the United States Navy for seven years in the late 1970s and early 1980s, serving on the destroyer USS Paul F. Foster as a Surface Warfare Officer in the Pacific Fleet and stateside as a special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon.

Yes with his seniority he would have been a Department Head, i.e. Engineering, Navigation, Operations, etc. He would have had his own state room rather than share a stateroom with another officer.  I would recommend that you take a look at the qualification requirements for SWO.  If you do, you may have more respect for SWOs.

I have been treeating this with the degree of seriousness that it deserves.  The story is total bullshit.  Trump would never consider supplanting the JCS with an assistant.  The structure and duties of the  JCS are prescribed in statute.  I hope you will be as forthcoming when the story is proven to be a fabrication.  You're not loosing your sense of humor are you?
