Most of these people are only concerned with the fetus. Will they adopt the baby of a woman I met who's pregnant, homeless, and using drugs and alcohol daily? There will be even more of these unwanted children once Planned Parenthood is closed, and no contraception available for the poor.
where I live POOR get free medication and contraception anyway

If we're talking about threats to our way of life in the US, doesn't the numbers of people dying every day from drug, alcohol, and suicide present a clear and present danger? Our government doesn't even discuss it, in spite of the evidence. Where are the conspiracy theorists when you need them?

And what exactly would you have done?

Make alcohol illegal?  We tried that.  Make drugs illegal?  Done.  Tell people not to commit suicide?  Set up suicide hotlines?  Have teachers, doctors, etc be watchful for people depressed to that point?  Don't we do that already?

Again,

... Why is it the Libs who disagree with a proposed program or policy always ask ''well what about'' something completely unrelated?

Those problems would go away overnight if everyone accepted Jesus and took lots of cold showers. Get with the program already!

who gives a shit what some actor or actress or musician or artist even thinks
most are ok to watch in a movie or tv
but I don't think they are very intelligent compared to physicians, attorneys, professors, nurses, pharmacists, mathematicians, physicists...
you get my point
who gives a shit what an "artist" thinks !
who appointed them expert anyway ?

Don't worry PB, if the problems were to be acknowledged, your solutions would disqualify you from being on any task force assigned to deal with it.

By Friday (already) there was a call to cancel the Oscar's entirely on account of it. And just a heads-up; Trump will cause a _nation-wide_ shut-down (if not many over time) at the rate he's going. People are in no mood.

I honestly hope they do. Prove how irrelevant they are. Then the asking price for the studios will fall drastically and the Chinese won't even be willing to buy them.

They can shut down all the $tarbucks too.

That's your answer to what would you have be done?

My best answer would be for our government to acknowledge it. That would be the first (and biggest) step. If you think you can solve complex problems with easy solutions, you are as clueless as Trump.

They gather and report the statistics you just cited all the time. Consider it acknowledged.

So what?

Oh no, Hollywood dipshits aren't going to have their parties.  Yawn.  I thought most of these people were leaving the country anyway, that's an extra day to pack.

Are you still steamed about Marlon Brando snubbing the Academy in 1973 and sending Elizabeth Warren in his place to deliver a shrill, incoherent rant about Native American rights?  Find six other people who care and get together to complain about it over breakfast at Denny's every other Wednesday. In the meantime, we're still waiting for the names of all those phony judges. Or were you just brandishing an empty briefcase?

If "they" is the CDC and health care professionals, then yes, it's acknowledged as a public health epidemic. I haven't heard it mentioned by the new administration, instead Trump has chosen to stoke fear of death by foreign terrorists.

How so?  I realize that's been the charge from the Left since WWII - more Fake News - who obviously don't wish to be associated with the Nazis, but do wish to lump everyone else in with them.  But that they were ''well to the right'' is not obvious to me.

Perhaps if you could explain what ''well to the right'' is, it would be more convincing.

The right concerns itself with national identity. They each have certain myths they try to live up to, and the further right you go the more you find that they bolster those myths through authoritarianism. Hitler's Germany, Mussolini's Italy and Franco's Spain had that in common. The left is about class, not nation, that's why the anthem of the socialist movement is known as The Internationale. National identity isn't something that's been immutable for all time anyway. It's only something that's really happened since the Reformation, national borders were much fuzzier before that. But if you listen to a right-winger they are obsessed with the concept of the nation as if it's something that has always been there.

Quote from: PB the Deplorable on January 28, 2017, 05:36:36 PM
So ''Right wing'' means backward, or backward looking, with the Left of course being forward thinking, or ''progressive''?

I would suggest learning what works and what doesn't from the past isn't exactly ''harking back'' or backward looking - it's common sense.  We build on what we've experienced and learned, as with every other human endeavor.

Left wing must include not looking back, not seeing or acknowledging the damage they've caused and are causing - continuing to plow along their destructive ideological path.  Which leads to massive government control, loss of democracy, and, ultimately, dictatorship.

Being conservative is a perfectly respectable position, but it usually goes too far and turns into atavism. I doubt you ever really question what you believe, whereas I'm interested to hear an articulate position from the right, even though I rarely hear one. Even so, defending the status quo ante just for the sake of it isn't necessarily a bad thing, because you need input from both sides.

Learning from its mistakes is precisely what the right does not do. We have seen how destructive nationalism can be yet people are embracing it now as though it's the answer to all our problems. Without the left you'd still be languishing in feudalism, because the left question the zeitgeist and believe it can be improved. The right are essentially scared by the future and want to turn the clock back as much as possible.

Well, when I say officers; one was found in the trunk of  a car after suffering a heart attack apparently. Happens all the time. Heart attack on the way, get in the trunk.

Reminds me of how frequently people commit suicide while padlocked inside a gym bag in a bathtub in central London.

But now, of course, and thanks to our friends here, CDC data will also no doubt become compromised, so we'll have to turn-to and rely-on the new ALT_CDC crew!     {This is just insane!}

Rogue POTUS Staff on Twitter is blowing up the Internet. Reporting behind the scenes WH activity beforehand. Chaos, power struggles, paranoia...The best of the Internet.

A digest of recent tweets:
Rogue POTUS Staff (RPS) refers to Pence, Priebus, and Ryan as the "Unholy Trinity" who represent the GOP. They insisted Pence sit in on the Russia Putin phone call, as they suspect Trump of not being honest about his prior dealings with Putin, and are now even more suspicious about his behavior during call. Meanwhile, Bannon has taken over, pushing Priebus aside, RPS says Priebus seems ready to quit. Bannon knows about RPS and pissed off he can't ID them. Unholy Trinity want Trump to push through the most controversial issues, then impeach. Also pushing their anti-choice agenda, but RPS says Trump not interested. Unholy Trinity fears losing their grip.

This resistance to Trump is not surprising given the fact that more eligible voters who didn't vote greatly outnumbered the amount of votes each candidate received.

According to http://cookpolitical.com/story/10174 the final votes were:

65,844,610 Clinton
62,979,636 Trump
7,804,213 Others

But--roughly 90 million eligible voters didn't vote!

I imagine Clinton would have seen the same resistance had she won. It's hard to call this election a mandate from the people when the people didn't show up. Hopefully the dissatisfaction from across the spectrum will lead to greater voter participation and involvement in our election process.

No, it's really not. You guys never stop with the fake news attempts but the majority of Americans are getting fed up with you now, as revealed by a recent poll.
