A simple explanation would be Christians are Christian by their belief and faith in Jesus Christ as their savior. A Catholic is a Catholic by baptism, usually as an infant. There are Catholics that are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholic.

Geez, as Norry might say, there is catholic and Catholic most, not all, Christians believe in the catholic church but not the situation with the "big C" and it has been a source of many schisms, fighting, doctrinal parsings and study, and intrigue. Even whole Reformations, and Byzantine stuff, as a real thing and as the current usage, various affairs. I have whole volumes just on the internal goings-on during the Reformation and that is just internal between them (hint: they against Popery but can't agree between them!) The Catholic/Christian thing? I guess, generally, Catholics are Christian but, to some Christians, they are misguided, or worse, and he is the anti-Christ.

Protestants are basically people conned by their local lord who wanted the pope out of their hair, the rest if fluff. It's the capitalist/globalist version of Christianity, make it easier for the upper class to exploit people.

Orthodox Christians (Russia, Greece, Eastern Church): Papal Infallibility is rejected. Priests can marry before ordination.

There are many more different things of course. A very complex issue. Look up E Michael Jones on Youtube.

Edit: looks like the archdiocese if Chicago still has a net worth of over $2 billion (using the value they payed for the properties, nit what they are worth today. Some were purchased 100 years ago). Makes me question the numbers used above.

Each Catholic diocese is an independent financial entity with the bishop as the responsible party, as a CEO.  The Pope/Vatican has no ownership or responsibility.  The net worth of the Chicago Archdiocese, or any other in the US, has no bearing on the Vatican's worth.  As for valuation, most of the school properties on the West and South Sides are 50+ years old and couldn't be given away today.  Many are closed due to safety codes, not to mention their lovely neighborhoods.

No, he has the record to back my statement up.  He's fought McConnell tooth and nail since he was elected Senator. Provide evidence to the contrary and maybe you will convert me.  So far, such evidence is lacking. 

I respect you, MV, and we will probably both end up supporting Trump in the general if he is the nominee but Cruz is the man who will bring the Constitution back to the fore. I firmly believe this.

You can be smart as all get out, but if you can't hire/fire and make management decisions and stand behind those decisions, your ideals are only ideals. I agree with you.  I would have preferred that Cruz had served in the Senate until he was 50 before running for President.  Senators don't exactly make good presidents, e.g. Obama. However, Kennedy was a young Senator when he ran for President so who knows.

Well, the Pope has decided to infuse himself into our Election.  That is not a way to attract new followers to Catholicism.  He is undoubtedly causing more Catholics to leave the fold. The Pope is a dumb ass.  There, I said it.

Who cares?  The important thing is that he pays lip-service to service men and women.  Having him raise the issue is worth millions in advertising that he would usually charge for.  As a matter of fact, I hope that some of these veterans charities write him a tax receipt for his valuable contribution of bringing up the cause during political debates.  The rules of free enterprise would seem to dictate that he should be able to earn tax credits while earning votes by paying lip-service to vets.
