oof.  isn't that just the pits?  i had a PhD a&p professor who looked to be about 60 years old, and from time to time she would make mention of the fact that she had student loans to pay off.  it was just unbelievable to me that someone of her age would still be whittling away at student loans, but i think that's probably more common than most would suspect.

I'm assuming you are probably racking up some now?  But of course, you do have all those sweet Bellgab bucks rolling in, so maybe not
*note to self. Time to donate again*

Explain to me where the retirees are?  And full time students. I believe the average donation is $8 but I can double check that if you force me

Why do leftists always babble like this? You've contributed nothing of value yet still are trying to maintain some smugness which is without foundation. You don't think it's interesting Sanders' main source of income is coming from welfare and unemployment?

Bless you in pronouncing me a leftist without actually finding out what my views are on a variety of topics.

Now. How about that drink you offered me?

You and I would probably kill each other or get married.

Explain to me where the retirees are?

I spent a few minutes googling this trying to be fair as you may have a point. Unfortunately that info isn't in the original article. Although the original article is wonky on this subject it's a pretty good read.
http://www.latimes.com/projects/la-na-pol-sanders-donors/

Googling around I found this site
https://www.opensecrets.org/pres16/indus.php?id=N00000528&cycle=2016

Which says retirees have donated around 4.3 million dollars as of May 23rd.

The original article says Bernie has raised $209,000,000 from his marks while that site says 4.3 million of that came from retirees. 4,321,000 of 209,000,000 is around 2%. So that would mean about 26.5% of Bernie's donor are unemployed.

Yes this is incredibly weak but it's the best answer I can come up with.

Students surprisingly don't give much of a fuck where it counts about Bernie. Which suggests he's just trendy but kids really don't give a fuck about him.

QuoteNot surprisingly, Sanders gets very little money â€" 2% of his overall haul â€" from Wall Street, which he frequently criticizes as “corrupt” and responsible for creating a “rigged economy.” Students, who are vocal Sanders’ supporters, gave even less.

I always find any kind of mindlessly hateful crowd reaction chilling, regardless of what politician is inspiring it or what their political philosophy happens to be. The fact that this is all happening in a presidential election, with the candidate getting even more extreme and more insistent on his vision of the world as he gets closer to possible victory, makes the situation a nightmare.

The sort of crowds we're seeing at Trump rallies would more than likely cheer him on no matter what he proposed. As you say, we have seen this scenario before, with millions of supposedly civilized people losing their minds, their souls and all sense of good judgement in a fever pitch of nationalistic rage.

On a side note, I am beginning to see the growing relevance of the NRA's insistence that an armed population would be the last remaining protection and deterrent against a national government that had assumed dictatorial powers. This situation always seemed far-fetched and extremely unlikely but a Trump presidency makes the threat much more real and present.

Ironically, many gun-owning Trump voters would be the very people to take up arms against a Trump dictatorship in a case where a constitutional crisis could not be resolved peacefully, since eventually they would find themselves among his victims.
Yep.  I agree.  There are such dangers in either extreme.  This is what happens, I suppose, when elected leaders are not holding the well being of the average citizen paramount.  I just don't trust that Trump is operating out of altruism.  If he were, you'd think he'd discourage the bullies on both sides of the aisle.

Look at the way his Trump University took the average person as a dupe.  People in a depressed economic position, and taking advantage of them.  It is unconscionable.

I've heard of cow tipping. And I've seen cows being towed.  However, I don't see how either one of these fits into the context of your post.

Perhaps you meant Kowtowing? ::) ;D

It's easier to type "leftist" than "someone I don't like or agree with." Over on Redstate.com, home of the Tea Party grassroots activists, the sentiment among columnists and members is now almost universally anti-Trump. Which clearly shows up the problem of the "leftist" label. People there are very conservative and anti-RINO. Yet they have all of the same basic objections to Trump that people of different political stripes have, including the left.

For example, as a result of Trump's continuing tirade against an American judge (and in the context of his other remarks), they are calling him a racist, no ifs, ands or buts. That reflects well on them because it shows that underneath the policy and political philosophy differences they have with others, they have a core integrity.

On the issue of Trump, they are willing to stand with those they oppose on most matters. They're concerned here with the substance, not labels. They recognize the threat. I have to give them credit for that just as an American who shares certain core principles. And I'm sure they would love to be called "leftists" or maybe "establishment tools" for opposing Trump. They could use a good laugh.

You're a very unusual woman to post an image like that. Perhaps, if you're lucky, you can go to a Trump rally and get him to give you the Rosie O'Donnell treatment personally. Wouldn't that be fun?

Trump might have right to criticize Gonzalo P. Curiel for being biased due to his membership in race/ethnic-based organizations* and Trump's statements about wanting a border and sane immigration policy, but he should've let his lawyers do it and file the paperwork in court.

*"La Raza Lawyers of California" (the race lawyers of California)

and his membership in the "Hispanic National Bar Association"

(Can you imagine in the judge in, say, a "youth" criminal case was a proud member of some organizations like "White Lawyers of California" and "White National Bar Association"?)

You ignore the point, not surprisingly. It never fails to amaze me that some women are so willing to participate in degrading their own gender, a bit like a black person supporting the KKK (and unfortunately, much more common).

Sorry, but the joke isn't the least bit funny. You don't get a pass because you're the "nice old lady" of Bellgab. You stuck your foot in it this time. Deal with it or not.

I'm getting the feeling things are coming unglued, and I actually would not be surprised if he dropped out sometime over the summer. The money isn't materializing, the infrastructure isn't there, and the candidate is becoming increasingly... unsettled.

Fun is fun but this is getting a bit scary.  There is no way I can vote for Hillary.  My choices are to not vote for the first time since I could or write in the giant meteor.  I'm leaning towards the meteor.

It will be interesting. Although I support him his histrionic personality and ego is amazing. I never watched any of his shows but he, at least in his mind, can never make a mistake and is always correct. Sort of funny. I wonder if my initial thoughts about him being a Billary plot to destroy the Republican Party or to win her the election might be right? But with his ego and money I can't see why he would be a part of that kind of plot.
ps: I don't know why Trump needs so much money in the campaign. He gets free press whenever he wants it. Has big rallies that always make news (usually because some illegal or Bernie support attacks someone, and in the modern world it is cheap easy to advertise via social media, youtube, twitter, etc.)

pps: I think Trump was right to criticize the judge though he should've had his lawyers do it. The guy is a member of race/ethnic based organizations*. Insert "white" into their names and think what the press, lawyers, etc would say. And non-Hispanic "whites" are a minority in several cities so, using that logic it would be sense to have one, but you could imagine?

I don't think it was an issue worth raising, but if he absolutely felt the need to go there, yes, have surrogates do it while the candidate focuses on bludgeoning Hillary. There's plenty of material there. The fact that he's on the defensive about this is very telling - there's blood in the water now, and it's not going to go away like previous flaps because it's clear this is something that really irks him. He might get lucky and something in the news cycle will drown it out, but he's not doing himself any favors right now.

I wonder how Bill Clinton set his price at $16.46 million. He must have looked at the federal debt clock that day, and said "Yeah... Give me that, just knock a few zeroes off."

Unless he, somehow, is trying to use the Democratic 'identity politics' or their older race-fear strategy and the old Republican "Southern Strategy" trying to get all 'whites' to vote for him based on that? But that won't work except maybe in a very small minority because unlike other groups whites don't vote on race but on other issues and are split more on issues and parties. And 'white guilt' and wanting to be politically correct has been ingrained in many whites, so the instant response is, like with Obama election, to want to vote to prove something "I'm not racist" "be a part of history" etc. And the demographics have changed, and continue to do so, especially in some states that it is a dumb strategy even if you got the 'white vote' . But it was a weird move to refocus things on the case and to hammer the judge (is he thinking reverse psychology? Now the judge will be kinder to Trump to 'prove' his has no Mexican-bias.?)  He should just ignore it and bring up all the Clinton case(s) over the decades and current or, better yet, on his message (even if lacking in specifics.)

He needs to punch out before the convention, not after. This is one way to get the do-over I talked about above. There is still time for Republicans to come together on this. Nobody wants to go into the bunker with Trump as the Democrats advance on Washington. Only a fanatic would want that.
