With that treaty, NK got funds, food, supplies, and technology upfront - which they used for their military and bought time to develop nuclear weapons.  Are you really holding that out as a good deal?

I wasn't around in 47...But the thing was, Britain had just enjoyed six years of war, lost a lot of people, and those that returned from it weren't ready for another one anytime soon.. Although they saw Churchill as the right man at the right time, he wasn't that good as a civilian PM, and people were frankly tired out at the last thirty odd years of poverty and misery and war. The 'free' stuff is patently absurd shit, but you're American and so you can be forgiven. If by free you mean the millions who had died in two major wars didn't pay a price then exactly what do you mean?

No one is advocating bombing Iran.  The sanctions left the future of the regime very much in doubt, until Obama illegally declared them over.  A colossal failure and betrayal on his part.  So much for ''the left understanding something the right doesn't''. 


I agree the young educated population in Iran is strongly anti-regime.  It's a delicate balancing act trying to assist them without that being used against them by the current government.  I'm not so sure destroying their nuclear facilities is going to permanently set the anti-regime population against us.  Even so, our interest there is the removal of the nuclear threat, not the makeup of the government

The mass bombing and rolling in like arrogant assholes who thought they owned the joint for some reason pissed off the Iraqi population too. And even more surprising, when the arrogant assholes carried on, disbanded the local police and army there was unrest. Surprisingly the fanatical AL Qaeda moved in and without a great deal of effort (as the Americans had done most of the work for them) persuaded the less grounded Iraqis that America wasn't their friend after all. And what really surprised Bush and co was how long the 'over by Christmas' actually went on for and got worse, much much worse.

Actual detail, not vague commitments. This whole thing was supposed to be about giving up nuclear weapons. How about some agreement on how that would be achieved? A timetable, what progress to expect and by what date. The US obviously expected something like that but they got snookered out of it and settled for cloudy assurances. It didn't need to be very specific, but the fact that they couldn't even get that tells me NK aren't serious.

This is all because Trump is too lazy to bother with detail. Why would he when idiots like you are so easily pleased? NK was too wily for him in this case, though. This is what we get from a president who doesn't read, doesn't value knowledge and expertise, and blusters through everything.

Listen up kid and learn something.  Since he accepted NK’s invitation to direct talks proffered through SK, Trump and many others in both parties have emphasized that the initial meeting may be fruitless and even hostile. No one, but no one expected Kim to commit verbally or in writing  to anything approaching total denuclearization on the first go.  Now that Trump has succeeded in getting Kim to do both, those of you suffering from rectal cranial inversion want to move the goal post and call the outcome of the meeting a defeat for Trump.  Not one of you have manned up and given the devil his due.  You and your morally bankrupt and intellectually dishonest anti American ilk have shown yourselves to be the enemies within that would prefer the Nation’s foreign policy to fail than to support the efforts of a duly elected president that you personally dislike.  If a leader who identified as a liberal were to obtain the same result that Trump did, you’d go all wet in the knickers.
