Sure.  None of them - people need to be able to think for themselves.  That includes an understanding of the various different sides of the issues, having at least some awareness of pertinent historical surrounding the issue, know a little about the people involved, some basic human nature, and - perhaps most importantly - which outlets have been right and wrong in the past, which tend to lie about what, and who they tend to favor.

Wow, I actually agree with these very accurate observations.  My parents weren't particularly political when I was growing up but my Mom worked for a very intelligent Australian conservative and he informed my politics more than anyone else.  He was like another grandfather to me.  My Dad later became very conservative but with a sense of independence.  He believed in a lot of the spiritual Shirley McLaine nonsense for starters to the point where he went to Machu Picchu on a lark.  Yet he listened to Rush faithfully in his later years after I first discovered him in '88.  I no longer listen to Rush much as he has lost a lot the edgy humor he had in the early days.
