Nah, that's what comes across on the air and some of the reasons I don't like him. But I don't know him from Adam, he could be a really nice guy. He just carries the show in a way that doesn't get me pumped up to listen.

I'm not "attacking" anyone. Just stating my own personal opinion.

Korea. 

Checked his website & one a the news stories is from a Hezbollah website.  The story is about a Jewish basketball player who claims that he likes to eat his unleavened bread with the blood of Christians and Muslims!

I was super excited when he first took over because I dug his voice and his interview with Winter Laake was fairly entertaining. But he lost me... And last night his praise of Sheriff Joe Arpaio kinda made me sick.

Sheriff Joe has a lot of fans in the Coast to Coast community.  I can't stand his anti-immigrant BS, but am more sympathetic than I otherwise might be due to the fact that about a decade ago, illegal immigration was really out of control.  Funny, however, Sheriff Joe never mentions that it's been OBAMA who has been cracking down on illegals, even illegally deporting Mexican-Americans!  No for all of Obama's zeal, Sheriff Joe gets into the birther biz.  Obama could scour Arizona until it's lily white and Brewer and the Sheriff STILL would hate him.

But I digress.  I really can overlook Wells' love for the Sheriff, since Snoory loves him too.  Art probably dug him too at one point.  Most conservatives who listen to radio stations which offer C2C dig him too.  When I listen to Coast, I don't expect Phil Donohue.

tonight's c2c show has been one of the best April Fools jokes ever...

Not picking on you, Morgus.  You had lots of company in thinking John Lear's wildest-yet flights of fantasy were just a prank, as Wells implied at the last minute of the show when he growled, "It's April the 1st."  I, too was left trying to decide  whether or not John B. Wells was just covering his rear end when he said that.


My ears pricked up last night when I realized Wells was making some kind of apologia about that show, saying he has had thousands of emails berating him for his April Fool's prank. He then went on one of his lengthy rambles saying how much of Lear's claims are absolutely factual to Wells' own knowledge, and that he didn't say "April Fool" at the end of that program, but rather simply stated the date:  April 1.


Even so, he ended his rant with some convoluted statement saying that all is well, and we're all going to be all right.  Gave the impression he's had lots of scared silly listeners climbing the walls.

I just found this board by googling "john b. wells" + socialism.

A lot of people hate Noory for being stupid, but he's at least open-minded.

Seems like every time I give John B. a chance he's reaffirming his conservative ideals. He's got a scientist like Krauss on talking about theoretical physics or whatever and he feels the need to dogmatically assert his religious beliefs in the face of science. He has some god-fearing libertarian on and it becomes an invitation to triumphantly rip on liberalism and mutually masturbate.

The guy lacks the ability to leave aside his own bizarre convictions and advance the conversation by making remarks and asking questions.

Not that Noory is some kind of socratic critical midwife but at least he isn't jamming each show into his premade worldview over the air. Noory is just smart enough to know he needs to hold off. Wells is a fundamentalist.

Can't stand the guy, Coast becomes right-wing rant radio on the weekends thanks to him. Give me sheepish George 7 days a week.

Just out of curiosity though:  why would you search by using "Wells + socialism?"   I wouldn't think it would be too productive to search by combining mutually exclusive terms...?!?   Or were you looking for Wells quotes that included words/phrases like "to hell with infant mortality rates" or "over my dead body" or something...?

shockley, i googled it because i thought it would be easier to find people who hate his schtick by looking for his scare words. socialism, liberalism, scientism (jk - he doesnt know that one), welfare, etc.

read your krauss email, it was hilarious. actually i sent john an email myself during that show (no reply obv) complaining about how he kept throwing his religious ingredients into every segment of the interview. i tuned in to hear a brilliant mind at the top of his field and had to listen to a bible thumper try to undermine him. krauss handled it well and i think even did a good job of subtly schooling him but i was dying for him to rip into john. can't do that obviously. separate complain i want to get off my chest - i tried to call in too to ask about free will and determinism and had to listen to a final hour of calls from people who clearly didnt grasp the concepts seeking affirmation of their moonshine-fueled limited vocabulary theories. so. damn. frustrating.

oh, the other night he also read one of the emails (it was eloquent) scorning him for being the type of hack who's ruining the political discussion in the country. of course john dutifully read it, offered some superficial rejoinder and continued to coax the guest as he discussed how The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo reveals how Sweden is a big government socialist dystopia that destroys individual creativity.

Wells and Noory aren't offensive along partisan lines.  They are equal opportunity offenders.

That said, Noory is the more offensive (IMNSHO) because he won't even own up to taking a stand and defending it, except on a few things like abiotic oil and turmeric, and because he sits back on his intellectually lazy keister reading off crib cards at inopportune moments, collecting a paycheck and ruining a once-great program. 

But that is just my opinion.

I really agree with you here.  I pretty much gave up on Coast2Coast when Ian cut down and Wells replaced him.  Noory has been pissing me off heavily as well, but not nearly as much as Wells has.
