I've been watching the show Hannibal for about 6 episodes and it is great. Going to watch what I missed before next week's show airs. Anyways, Mason Verger popped up in the show, so I looked online to find out how much material from the books will be covered. They are going to do the whole story, with extras. Cool. But, here is where it gets weird. The show has rights to any characters who originated in Red Dragon, Hannibal Rising, and Hannibal. MGM owns the rights to any characters who originated in Silence of the Lambs, like Clarice, Jame Gumb, and Raspail. The show has been trying to negotiate for these character rights, but MGM are being dicks. Of, course, the show can make parallel characters, but it is not the same. The worst part is MGM is allowing freaking Lifetime to do the Clarice Starling story. Wtf? Lifetime? Apparently, it has been in development for years, but hasn't gone anywhere. Maybe this should be in the things that annoy me thread. Freaking Lifetime.
