How does that make any sense? And, it should be noted, I have used my AR-15 (not pictured) to take down feral hogs that had become a nuisance on private property.

Surely.  When someone presents a reasoned argument in a discussion about important issues, you are always free to respond by saying "I just disagree."  And when you are asked to present the basis for your disagreement, you are also entitled to reply, "I just do."  And if it bothers you that someone feels you're a simpleton for equating your feelings with logic and facts, why, that's allowed to.

A still better question is why you think that offering, "Because I say so" contributes anything useful to a discussion about an important issue.  People get irritated with the distracting buzz of insects.  Deal with it.

Someone said an assault rifle had no purpose other than killing people. I would argue the purpose of any firearm is directly related to the person holding it.

As for who designed the bottom weapon or why, I have no idea and neither do you.

The point was there is no substantive difference between what people are calling an unacceptable "assault" weapon and an acceptable firearm. They are both capable of killing with great efficacy. At the end of the day, all firearms are designed to kill and can be used to that end. The gun control movement isn't about ridding the world of assault weapons. The movement's ultimate aim is to make illegal the private ownership of firearms.

I don't intend to step on your post immediately above my own, gneely, but DigitalPig raises some interesting points (if unintentionally)...

Over and over, we see people on these threads present a point.  Sometimes (but not always), they will provide some sort of evidence to support their point.  Over and over, however, we then see the factuality/credibility of said evidence questioned.  The thinking seems to be, if the evidence came from InfoWars or Drudge Report, it's absolute horseshit.  If it came from the SPLC or Daily Kos, it's absolute horseshit!  (In the interests of full disclosure, I'd be one of those people arguing that those first two sources I named are useless.)

True, meaningful, civil debate is extraordinarily difficult.  It takes candor, a dose of humility, a dash of boldness and self-assurance.
