Celebrity Deaths

Started by noodlehead.crucified.c2c, June 25, 2009, 04:28:29 PM

Like I said, if anyone wants to know what a Trump presidency would be like - look no further than the failed governorship of Arnold Swartzeneggar.

While not a celebrity in the traditionally sense, Collins was a highly respected test pilot and aviation writer.  As the latter, Collins had the knack of being able to write articles that could be appreciated by aviation professionals, but not get so bogged down in technical jargon that he'd overwhelm the average enthusiast.  RIP Sir.

I'm not familiar with Mr. Collins, but will pay homage to him today during a late lunch on the road by popping in a little used CD I have called "Checkflight P-51 with Bob Love," on Aircraft Records.  (featuring a 63 points labeled foldout insert of the cockpit.)

i look at people like you as being old and out of touch with what matters at this point in american politics.  the fact that you thought ted cruz could be marketed to a national audience does nothing for your credibility.

Keep it in the Politics threads, boys, or mv might spank. Oh, wait..(ahem) I mean praise mv

well, it wasn't intended to upset if it did.  it's just that when people double post, it looks spammy and splits the same conversation between two threads.

Did you really follow this guy through the media all these years and think - of all the people out there - this buffoonish clod should be president?  I just don't know what to say to that.
buffoonish clod?  heh heh, zing.  anyway, i became interested in trump as a candidate in 2011 when i heard him call into michael savage's show.  next question.

By the way, when did I ever say Ted Cruz would be a good candidate?

Which is why Big Media went all out for him during the primaries, they needed someone Hilary could beat.

your finger couldn't be further off the pulse of things here.  i did have an appropriately snarky and thoughtful wall of text prepared for you in response, but then i heard limbaugh's show from yesterday and decided it would be far more productive to submit that for your consideration instead.  it repeatedly illustrates the small thinking behind your brand of #nevertrump intractability.  fast forward to 37:00.  it's as if this broadcast manifested with "paper*boy of bellgab" in mind.  i repeatedly thought of you as i listened:

this looks like hedging to me.  seems you're positioning your narratives to move soon from "he can't win" to "if he wins he'll fail."  and i think it's a good thing.  at least as a real conservative, steeped in lost elections but with principle and honor in tact, you and ted will have something to continue warning the unwashed about.

I didn't see any connection in the least.  I would agree the country is in crisis, I would also offer that it's a shame the people who voted for these two in the primaries didn't take that seriously.

I'm also not in the #nevertrump group.  Of course he's the only choice now.  It's just that he will be an embarrassment and a failure, and that could have been easily avoided.  I give up on explaining it to you.  Enjoy your president meathead.

what were you explaining?  i wasn't aware you'd started.  for many months now, you've been a small picture sort of guy, dripping with petulance and condescension at the mere mention of trump's name.  you've become a caricature.  you reflexively repeat every tired levin/beck/kristol/krauthammer/romney/media narrative.  you'll never allow yourself to lose face by being convinced otherwise.  it's been a long time since you've offered anything beyond "buffoonish clod" and you lazily operate on the flawed assumption that trump's supporters, in lockstep, view him as perfection.  well, they don't... but it probably reassures your sense of superiority to believe this.

president meathead?  sounds like the san francisco has gummed up your brain.  i think it's great to finally see a mainstream candidate who isn't interested in losing honorably and accomplishing nothing.  your precious "conservative" principles are worthless if you don't know how to pick a winner who is fearless enough to implement some of them.  your polite and refined 1988 vision of republican politics loses national elections.

Do I look upset?

We need another celebrity death to get us back on track. Too much politics and worrying about TigerLily's feelings.  A little creepy hanging out here

you people are helping me come up with all sorts of great ideas for turbo mode...

So many HUGE things in this vast universe had to come together in order for this photo post to make sense, not the least of which is Cruz's resemblance to Boy George - all the way down to someone hurling an Archie Bunker insult without proper punctuation.  Of course, I saw this long ago.

In the womb.

I have waited, so patiently.

The time has come.  You cannot borrow (steal) this one, Kimmel, like your writers did almost immediately after my Stryper/Cruz comparison.  (I keed, but you gotta admit it was an interesting coinkydink.)

Whatever the case, this is proof of a sort, that I can see into the future.

Never ... doubt ... my ... greatness ... again...

i wasn't sure if trump was the meathead or if it was me, so i took a chance.

Not an Archie Bunker insult (that would have required capitalization).

Trump is a generic meathead.  When you go into a bar and a mouth breather wearing a $300 NBA 'jersey' wants to know what you're looking at - that's Donald Trump without the money.  How is this not obvious to everyone?

Well, I could go through it point by point, but I gave up doing that here long ago.

I'm so frustrated by what's gone on, I haven't even listened to any of those you've mentioned for quite awhile, nor do I speak about it with people here.  So if they're agreeing with me, good for them.

It's certainly obvious to me; but those kinds of idiots paid me a lot of dough in high school to do their homework for them, so I'm cool with another one being figurehead.

Who do you want? The cunt traitor with her ghoul husband? Whose kid are you??

i get it.  you think trump can't win.  it's all you've said on this forum for months.  your T key must be ground beef at this point.  but we'll find out in november.  and if he does win, you can move along to repeating "he will fail".

Oh, I think he has an ok chance of winning.  First off, he isn't what you think he is - if he were I'd be with you.

I'll tell you what this feels like.  It's as if a male version of one of the lesser Kardashians were running for president, and due to name recognition they won enough winner take all primaries to get the nomination.

his positions on illegal immigration, trade, and military intervention were what attracted me.  and i've never seen an episode of the apprentice.  you may now submit your next tired point of dismissal in solidarity with rachel maddow.

What the hell happened to his voice? Weird. Sounds like his nuts are in a vise. Or was it the drugs keeping his voice in a lower register?

You're busting my balls, PB.  You're busting my balls.  I can just as easily argue it does NOT ~require~ capitalization.

"Enjoy your president, meathead," is completely acceptable.  Early on, Archie declared Mike "a" meathead.

But we do have to go with what you say you meant.

Thus collapses my house of comma cards.

(FUCK.  This is like arguing with Sean Lennon.)

Which means MV took his chances and interpreted it correctly.

Meanwhile, I am goddamned devastated and saddened about all this.

Boy George song puns come along so rarely.  Messiahs even more so.

But you don't you care about my feelings, right?

Do you really want to hurt me?
Do you really want to make me cry?

i think now that he's totally deaf, he's lost some ability to monitor how his own voice sounds despite the cochlear implant which lacks a ton of dynamic range.  it's compared often to a questionable AM radio signal.  when you go back and listen to rush from 1993 or 94 and compare his voice to today... you'd never know it's the same guy.  and some days are worse than others.

and i think the drugs are what took his hearing.

Wow, I didn't know about his hearing loss. Makes sense now. However, his drugs of choice are known to cause hearing loss in high doses. I wonder if he knew that. I used to listen to him when he got his start here in Sacto in the 80s. Sad.
