Alex Rocco, aka Moe Greene, The Godfather

"I made my bones while you were still going out with cheerleaders."

"You buy me out? I buy you out!"

Very, very good character actor. RIP

Formerly "Bobo" Petricone, involved in a notorious underworld scuffle in 1961 Boston which hastened his departure to a new life on the West Coast. Betrayed by Eddie Coyle in the film.

Winter Hill gang? It's amazing how many of these guys were connected.

Yeah, it certainly didn't hinder his career. Probably a "technical adviser" to a certain extent for those numerous low lifes he played in TV/film in the 70's.

Yeah. I'm wracking my brains because coming from NY, I know quite a few of the boys from here who've been in everything including the Sopranos were connected. A lot of the publicity died off when The Sopranos went off air, but between that, Goodfellas and Casino, many "technical advisers"/actors were gainfully employed. Ha, I even recognized the South Ozone Park street where Pesci's mother was supposed to be living.

Here is the movie I talked about. The one that Courtney Love does NOT want you to see.

Although he's been gone for some time now, I thought this would be the right thread for this article- Owsley, The Bear, Acid King. He and I had lots of mutual acquaintances and we corresponded during the '90's. A hard core real dude.

Interesting article. I'm surprised his ashes were allowed to be imported in to the USA and that Customs or the TSA didn't seize them, or at least harass, who ever carried them. Believe it or not this has happened to people transporting ashes to memorials and funerals.
ps: off subject, sorta, do you know of any "tests" of my idea of dosing an unsuspecting person prior to them going to sleep? And what happens dream-wise?

I am just now hearing about this.

Ann Crispin
b APR 05 1950
d SEP 06 2013

I used to argue with Ann back in 1999-2001. She liked to relentlessly warn everyone she met about questionable agents and publishers. I would stir the pot a little regarding politics within the SFWA, but it was all in good fun, though she sometimes took me too literally.

One of the last things she did before dying was to wish writers a good contract and to be careful when signing.

I don't know how I didn't hear about this.  As Paul McCartney somewhat ineffectively communicated but no doubt acutely felt about Lennon's death ... it's a drag.

A real fucking drag.

61 is too young, and he had a family that loved him too much for him to go so soon.  He was a hell of an entertainer.  May his journey into the unknown be blessed.

I don't know what it means that my primary emotion when confronted with this news is righteous indignation, but, gosh, I've never felt that before. Kinda tingly.

I will now chew bubblegum in a gesture of respect.

Same here.  No one could wear a pair of shades or kick alien butt like Roddy.

Have you ever seen the South Park episode where they that used that scene to choreograph a fight between Timmy and Jimmy, Cam?

Yes!  Even if you're not a fan of SP, because it's obviously a sincere labor of love.

BTW, those shades I posted a few minutes ago were part of last year's Halloween costume.

And I'm sorry to hear about RR's passing.  He was a sharp, funny guy and one of the most entertaining of the old WWF wrestling personalities.

Sad news. They Live is a classic that's stood the test of time. RIP, Roddy. Rumble on.

I like South Park, but got so far behind at some point and quit watching.  I keep telling myself I am going to catch up. I will check out that episode.

Glad you brought up that the glasses were used as an actual Halloween prop of yours.

While I remember you telling me that before, the newbies gotta know to what lengths your obsessive drive for detail will go!

I also loved They Live for properly introducing me to Meg Foster.

Oh, my.

I've liked/loved/appreciated deceptive redheads ever since.

Piper will be missed by many who enjoyed his humor and his straightforward no bullshit bagpipe playing ways. Heh.

I wish he had marketed his own bubblegum and sunglasses. I say that reverently, not flippantly.

And they sing about "Bette Davis eyes."  Ms. Foster has some of the freakiest eyes I've ever seen on the screen.

"Extreme Pale Blue (also known as Ice Blue) eyes are rare. The actress; "Meg Foster" has this eye color: http://www.flixster.com/actor/meg-foster"

I am awed, and a little frightened by your prodigious powers of memory, sir!

He left a big kilt indeed.  Anyone who aspires to fill it will have about as much luck as the suitors of Penelope who attempted to string the bow of Odysseus.

Too soon Roddy.  Too soon. I'm going to get some bubblegum and play some Tekken.
