Yeah he is a linguist but Sapir-Whorf is mostly discredited now since it has some pretty disreputable origins in the cultural-supremacy arguments -- Sapir (who was a giant hero in preserving native languages along with Franz Boas and therefore can not be touched) officially had nothing to do with it.

Oh the Overton Window can easily be demonstrated!  It is the whole reason why American dairy is substandard:  if you want to increase profits, just gradually shift the meaning of words like "butter" and "sour cream" so that they eventually mean different things depending on which side of the Atlantic you are on.  Honestly this makes me so hot -- I can feel my face flushing and my little hands balling into fists as I type -- that a Danish husmor's butter cookies will be unambiguously better than mine, will taste better, crisp up nicer, she can put them in a tin without thinking knowing they won't spoil, just because her plain old cheap grocery store butter has higher fat and lower moisture.  Why, in the greatest country on earth which I love dearly, we do not have the richest milk, the sharpest cheese, and the most slurp-worthy sour cream rends my very soul.  Forget BLM and MAGA and all that nonsense; we must break the stranglehold of Big Butter for America to be truly great.

There... I found it and am rewatching it now. Well worth listening to him as he talks about corporations, the cult of the self, religion, idols and a little on Trump. (He dislikes him. But to be fair, he despises Biden as well.) Throw in his hatred of the press (he hates the press as much as anybody here) as well as talk of how free trade gutted the working class.He talks of war and the decline of an empire and hope.

It's funny. I would say that I agree with around 80% of what he says. And I would certainly say that he and I are on what is portrayed as "opposite" sides politically. I think that we both want to "overthrow" corporations. I think that we differ in how to do it.

Yeah the standards for what can be sold as milk cream butter etc. are set I think by the FDA and clearly reflect lobbying with profits in mind.  Now I can buy imported butter at a premium, or various "European-style" butters put out by Big Dairy but those standards are not of course regulated and it is a crap shoot as far as what you are actually getting.  We need to do like Europe where the percentage is proudly displayed on the label as indicating the quality of the product, but Americans have been so scared of fat by health experts that truth in advertising like that would actually be detrimental to sales.
