...A side note I saw that Corona-Klan, as I dubbed him, will not be cited and charged for anything despite public outcry online over his choice of wearing a Klan-style hood while shopping in California.

Nothing says "I care" more than a mask, no matter the place, no matter the time of day. :-*

Pointy hats really do nothing for you aesthetically, anyway.  You want to lift and sculpt, people.  Lift and sculpt.

Thank you Its. I’m humbled and grateful for your generous words. I know for me being reminded that “we’re in this together” 10,000 times a day really helps uplift my soul. On digital road signs. On store intercom messages every 5 minutes. 27 times per commercial. One things for sure, separated and alone we are together.
It’s just “the new normal." I wonder how lucrative it is to be employed by The Ministry of Commie Meme and State Approved Observations.  It appears to be a secure job, at least.

Why does it appear that everything from Black Death, Corona-Chan, to Rabbit Hemorrhagic Fever seem to come from China?
https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2020/05/14/hemorrhagic-rabbit-disease-found-in-california-for-1st-time/

"This virus was first reported in China in 1984"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_hemorrhagic_disease

Apparently this is only a concern to rabbits and animals who prey on them for their diet.

"report sightings of sick or dead rabbits but be careful to not handle carcasses to minimize spread of the virus, which is described as very hardy. Hunters are urged to take precautions as well."

Dragon from the sea now!? Added to the list.

One notes in passing that Corona-Chan came from China and China traditionally is associated with Dragons. They also consider themselves "Middle Kingdom." So a 'principality of the air,' perhaps??

In The United States, we have, The Bill Of Rights, which acknowledge God's Law, which cannot be changed by Man.  Whether Canadians, as the Torries whom deserted the United States, in fear of the British invaders, have such articles or not, is irrelevant, as God's Law, still applies.  You do still have a lot of guns up there, yeah?  Bogus legislation such as you describe, is veneer under color of law, and unenforceable.  It's also know as, "Feel Good Legislation".

I understand what you are saying- and I agree. They have not tried to use this legislation yet (and I suspect that they will not.) But the point is that it should not even exist. It should never have been so much as a thought.

Yes, most of us have (to a degree) accepted some limitations. I understand that an arena full of people for a sporting event or concert is not in the cards right now. I also know that in previous health scares both countries put in place a number of restrictions (and I did not expect anything else this time.) The difference is that this time they have decided to lock down an entire world. This time they are trying to use some very powerful technology.

That said, I am hearing more and more rumblings from "normal" people that there has been overreach, an overreaction, that the numbers of dead just do not support what we have been doing. I say "normal" people, because I don't consider most people on this forum to be like the general population (even those who I disagree with are usually quite intelligent and can think critically.)

Today I walked in on a conversation between two employees discussing the death count (300,000 worldwide) with the one young guy saying that he saw the WHO estimates for 2017 of 650,000 dead worldwide from the common flu (something that I had just looked up last week.) To be honest, he is very intelligent- but it tells me that he is out there doing his own research and looking around (I have not seen anything in the media about this so far.) He is trying to figure out "what the hell" and not just accepting what the media outlets are spoon feeding him.

I do think that people are starting to wake up a little. Or maybe I'm just hoping?

Maybe forget the old days and the idea of voting, protesting, or even riots or ARs etc. Time for CRISPR and 'novel' ideas to fight back?

I'm kidding!! Of course. Joke. Joking!

The most important thing I learned over the last few months is that the mental model I had of reality is about as accurate as the COVID infection models.  That’s a sobering thought.

I think a few people (myself included) are finding ourselves in that boat. I don't think I ever would have believed that individuals would demand that the government lock them down for a virus with such a small fatality rate. I don't think that anybody thought that the world economy could withstand months of shut down.

There are a few aspects of the reality that I used to live in that no longer appear to be valid.

Of course. I saw the humour and am still laughing. I'm sure that our freedoms are secure.

Wonder if he got a whiff of one of those Jin-class missile subs?

I have to admit that was interesting. Is that the same guy who used to do a show called "dirty jobs" (or something like that?) He was pretty good and got me thinking of this a little differently (around risk acceptance and the difference between those who accept more vs. less risk.) Also, it does seem like we are not to the point of catering to the most scared rather than telling them to just stay at home while the rest of us get on with living (albeit, while taking some precautions.)

Hindsight will only get you so far; things looked pretty unknown a couple months ago.  We are a lot more certain of the danger now.  The problem is politicians who now have the responsibility for millions of lives (because they took it, a fact I suspect more than a few are regretting) and know they will be held to account for every death that happens, will be exceedingly careful giving it back.

I don't think it's entirely just to impute dictatorial motives to them even if they're from another party -- that requires psychic-level woo -- but being politicians they are far more in touch with the mood of their constituencies than, say, I am.  I'm glad some places like GA were brave enough to do something different from everybody else because it's a sort of limited test case for the rest of the country.  It's been three weeks since they reopened and the new cases have gone down, even with more testing, which should encourage other people to follow.  If GA is successful, even in their urban areas, maintaining the strict lockdowns elsewhere will be really hard to justify.
