That youtube video link is dead now.

Lemme see.  When was the last time I paid much attention to the Olympics?  Well I attended a few things in '96 but really wasn't paying much attention otherwise.  I guess maybe the '84 Olympics though not as much as the Winter Olympics in 1980.

It's all bread and circuses.

I will watch the Winter Olympics for some events but the oddball spectacle ceremonies with bizarre pagan and NWO themes, etc? No thanks. (Though admitedly that was the reason for the games.) Also corrupt and always picking areas that are almost hell-holes of crime, corruption, and pollution? Ill watch some sports sometimes but friggin bb guns, kidding, pellet guns for shooting? Got over that in early grades. I will look watch kayaking etc human waste, dead bodies, and virus and bacterial waters tho. It is like some Hollyweird reality show.

Idk coverage this year but sometimes they'll play to cool sports on weird channels or online. But it is more about immigration, globalism, and odd pagan themed stuff than sports and LOTS of "stories and narratives" about various sexual, gender (and Intra-gender etc,) political, "green," or religious and PC stuff, and advertising,  that about sports.

Sorry.  NBC did a last minute "screw-you" so I'll have to wait for the time delay broadcast.  I'm very sorry.  I didn't expect that to happen.

The Olympics?  Really?

Sorry, I grew up when the Soviets and their satellites were playing professional athletes doped up on performance enhancing drugs when the rest of the world were entering amateurs only, their event officials were cheating for them, etc.  The 1972 basketball final really took the cake.

I won't ever watch the Olympics, and have nothing but a bad taste for it.  It doesn't help that none of the events are even remotely interesting, that the announcers suck, or that the networks televising it jump from sport to sport with no congruity.  Sailing, archery, wrestling, swimming, Tae Kwan Do, track and field, gymnastics - how do people watch this junk?

They held the 88 Winter olympics in Calgary- so while I was young, I paid attention.  Since then, I have come to realize that while it means something to the athletes, it means absolutely nothing to me.  A bunch of corrupt countries bribing corrupt officials to allow them to give their friends billions of tax dollars to build infrastructure so that multinationals can sign exclusive sponsorship deals and use the good will of the games and amateur athletes to market to people at home glued to their television sets cheering their country.  (Deep breath.)

Nope-Not for me, thanks...

***I wonder if Bellgabbers are more likely to be jaded than the general population?

As I said, I'm only interested in the equestrian events.  I used to show horses (locally) when I was a youngun.

No, that can't be right

I'm still mad that they wouldn't take me up on my offer to let the swimmers practice for Rio in my basement. It would have been authentic- I flooded it with sewage and all...

Brazil slaughtered nearly 200,000 horses in 2012 to export as horse meat, hope you enjoy the equestrian events. :D

He hasn't even commented yet.  I'm inclined to think that he doesn't.

It is funny listening to NPR as the leftist get so contorted about the Olympics. On the one hand they support it because of its origins in pagan days and the idea of countries getting along and a global organization but then they feel bad because the OC is so corrupt, often the men's sports get higher ratings and support, the very idea of individual countries (nationalism) is usually a bad thing, and the costs versus the poverty, disease, crime, and corruption in the host country.

Then there is the whole gender thing which also conflicts them. Since, was we know now, gender is "self-identified" and doesn't exist in nature but if the men competed against the females they would, usually, win. So we can't have that and thus, separate sports. Unfair and against nature.

And why the "Special Olympics?" Surely that is also segregation and unfair. They should be "mainstreamed" and all athletes, regardless of chosen gender, gender, or mental/physical ability should compete together. (Maybe with some handicapping or government funding for those with less abilities.)

Also pissed they didn't let the All-Refugee team come out to this

He is notorious for song writer rights (Fast Times at Ridgemont High opening not in album or on some tv versions etc.)  He also sported the now dreaded and banned Confederate flag sometimes- aghast!
Actually I was amazed your comment was true (not paying much attention to these Olympics, if I watch I like the Winter ones better.) But WOW it actually is a thing! I'll bet the folks at Ladbrooke's etc have the odds really bad on the "Throat Slitting" and Rape(group) categories though.

Let's see.  Art comes back, then quits.  Then he comes back and quits again.  And that was just during his PremRad days.  Thankfully, he finally did come back, on his own with Dark Matter, and, then, well... but at least he came back and stayed for MITD, well, uh....

Yeah, we're jaded.  I'm just glad we have Dave Noorie to ease the pain.  Well, uh, never mind.

As much as I loved his stuff, and hope he gets better and even comes back (I think podcast or "dreamland" style weekly broadcasts would be great) what you are saying is that Art is getting the honorary Gold Medal in Quitting?

ps: the old Olympics only had 'winner,' not all this 2nd and 3rd winners crap. I'm surprised in these modern, non-bullying, "participation award" times that we even have any winners at all. Or be allowed Countries/Nations to segregate based on that (nationalism is bad.) Maybe why, like soccer, hockey, etc we get this phenomena where some resident/citizen of one country can "play" for the former country they left. That crap should be banned. You want to emigrate and become legal? Than you play for our/that country and not "revert" so you get a cap.

That too.

On the other hand, it's running and swimming and a bunch of other boring shit.  Easier to just ignore it.

If "Leaving broadcasting jobs in a butthurt huff" was an Olympic Event, Keith Olbermann and Art would be the all-time gold medalists in that order.  At least Art could probably get another chance if he wanted it, though. KO pretty much pissed off everyone he ever worked with and for and doesn't have any bridges left to burn.

The last time I was into the Olympics was for The Miracle on Ice.  It's nothing but a corrupt pile of muddled PC incompetence now.

I would say the Winter games are a little more watchable.  I don't, but at least there's snowy winter scenery, and the events seem more watchable.  Not as much hoopla bs either.

I agree but with all the PC crap, social agendas, and incompetence of today's MSM I don't make a point of watching.  I used to enjoy the ski jump stuff and downhill since it looked so damn scary and the guys were usually some Scandinavian or Euro maniacs with hot looking groupies watching.  Now, it's probably not worth all the ancillary aggravation you have to put up with to get to the good stuff.
