I could not agree more. I am quite personally familiar with Mexican corruption, brutality, and basic inhumanity- which is why my Mexican family raised me with a respect for the laws and customs of the U.S.- and a strong belief that all immigrants from that god-forsaken hellhole should be legally vetted. Hell man, when my dad would take us kids into Mexico he always would say "Watch out, this country's full of Mexicans!" Heh. (He really would say that). I wish all their illegal immigrants would go back to where I came from.

I'll be honest. In my younger days I liked it. Wild west or British colonial like almost. Hey, slip the cop a twenty and you can get away with whatever you want to do, drive drunk, get in fight, whatever etc. Things are cheap and nobody messes with the gringo except to offer various fares. La Pharmacia, "Boys Towns" and "meet my sister," various shows, gambling etc. But then I realized the morality, or at least, real situation visiting in the day, working with some of the people, having a business trying to go down there, and looking at (this was pre big-cartel days.) It sucks and Americans do support it when we take advantage and our tastes and prohibitions. But, aside from the violence, corruption eats the soul of a country and economy. Yeah, we in the US can bitch about corrupt politicians and process. And maybe so. But go to Mexico, E.Europe, Russia etc and you will friggin kiss our 'corrupt' politicians and police for being so honest in comparison.

Sure but, then again, I might.
