Regarding what they're talking about when my one grandmother was in a nursing home and close to death I was left alone in the room with her while my father went to talk to the doctors. She hadn't been talking too much and was only lucid and conversational once in awhile but all of a sudden her eyes widened and she sat up a little bit and was just looking, gazing really, past me and I was sitting against the wall. Then she said, "Oh! It's so beautiful." I said, "What, Grandma? What is?" but she didn't respond. I'm skeptical about such things and I suppose it could be explained as a hallucination but that's always stuck with me.

When my grandfather was dying in the hospital close to the end he said he seen his wife who died 10+ years previous and was talking to her no one else in the room seen anything. That kinda stuff is really common in hospice and hospitals when people are dying, it's real.

Similar situation with my Nana.  Mine did respond, but addressed me by another name.  I didn't know what to do other than listen and hold her hand.  To this day I wonder what she meant.

It makes you wonder if they see real things or it's just a delusion.  It's up to us to wonder.  Nonetheless it is very sad.
