Recently there was a news snippet regarding a mother who said her 5 year old son will identify as a girl because he seems to like playing with dolls

Good thing Spaceballs was made in 1987.  :o

I know a chick that's taking her 8 year old to a psychologist to determine if he's transgender. She's all trendy and a hipster, so I often wonder if it's more about her than the kid. Kid seems normal to me.
Sad. Yeah, it is all about the parents desire to be able to tweet or facebook their tolerance or weirdness. Skinner even was better putting them in a box.

it is more about her than the kid..she can be like.."Ohhh ave a precious adorable trans kid" ...i think that, while people should be equal..perhaps a bit TOO much is being made about all this and i wonder how many really want to be.."outed" as such and not just be left alone to live their lives

As far as gender identify public bathroom use goes...I  just feel bad for the 85 year old lady that isn't  going to understand

Kids "identify" as all sorts of stupid shit.

Or army figures and cowboys and indians etc. Force the military aspect and conquering stuff. So say, the apologists. Some of those olds ones go for good money on ebay and shops!

I have lots of good memories of playing pretend war of one type or another. There were so many kids in my neighborhood growing up that we would have games roaming across a block or two of houses. Bang! Bang! Got ya! No you didn't! Did too!  :P

You're probably right.  Don't you find it sad?

I think you're right. It's something best left to the kid when they become an adult and figure their shit out. It shouldn't be done for them.

Yes, it's really just due to the modern ability to indulge and project ego on social media. Personally, I think such people should not have had children at all.

I'm of the day where we would make forts and throw rocks and shoot bb guns (one pump only!) and fireworks at each other. No parents minded and nobody got hurt. (not sure if they knew.) Though there was an issue with the cops, once, during an odd snow storm and we did it and some bottle rockets got shot at a cop- unintended even, already lit at 'enemy.' Ouch, cop was cool. But back home wasn't.

My car is actually red.  Synchronicity?

That was in response to her wanting to haul ass in a bad ass car out in the desert, but wow!

I'm not sure people with gender issues ever really are able to handle it. The reason I say that is because it's a lot like homosexuality where it often becomes the defining feature of that person's life. They are defined by being transgender or gay, rather than as an artist, or writer or whatever it is that they do in a lot of cases. For some that's not the case, but those are the ones that little was known about their sexuality during their lifetimes like Arthur C. Clarke.

Winger the band..As if they needed more grief lol

As group, they can't handle it. The suicide rate is depressingly high, let alone attempts made. That's what I find so damn sad about this whole trans thing.
