Too many people expect Heather to be as polished as Art, who has like 50 or so years of radio experience.

Heather has been doing a great job. Art has faith in her and she's has done him proud. They each have their own style on interviewing guests. Here's the thing and there's truth to it:

If Art was back and doing his shows, the very same people would be complaining about him too.

It started out with a hopeful note, re: the "secret space program."  It seems unthinkable that the US, which spends more money on defense than the next ten top defense-spending nations on the planet, would not have the capability of reaching space.  Space is the ultimate “high ground,” and a pivotal component to all modern national defense capabilities.

But beyond that basic and inescapable logic, we have at least two compelling reasons to conclude that our military has a substantial secret spaceflight program.  Last night’s guest discussed the first reason at the opening of the show â€" Ronald Reagan’s presidential diary:

“The entry for Tuesday, June 11, 1985 (page 334) reads:

‘Lunch with 5 top space scientists.

It was fascinating. Space truly is the last frontier and some of the developments there in astronomy etc. are like science fiction, except they are real. I learned that our shuttle capacity is such that we could orbit 300 people.’”

And then we also have the testimony of Gary McKinnon, who definitely breached US defense, NASA, and US Space Command computer systems, and reported that he saw lists of ship-to-ship transfers in a document with the heading “non-terrestrial officers” with ship names that aren’t on the Navy’s fleet inventory.

I couldn’t follow much of the interview because the guest’s voice put me into some kind of vacant hypnotic state, but intriguing tidbits of info like that are really interesting.

Reagan was in office at the start of the Shuttle Program. The first mission I worked on was STS-4. NASAs first budget requests and program planning were for up to 50 launches per year. This was later scaled back to 25 launches per year because of budget limitations. That was the source of the "300 astronauts". Their budget requests were to hire enough astronauts to have 300. By the time of the Challenger accident, it was clear they could never achieve 25 mission per year due to how fragile the tiles were, among other maintenance that had to be done between flights. In 1985, there 9 launches. It was clear that they would have troubles even doing 10 per year.

My guess is that you are correct. Thirty days, so the timing is right, and it all fits. I wouldn't be expecting any kind of profound or revealing or meaningful speech about it either. It's sad, we had hoped for better, etc. etc.

She went into that speech about what happened to Art, supposedly to whatever stations didn't dump the show after the 30-day thing. I doubt Keith would shut everything down if there actually were still stations out there carrying the show.

There are, in your mind, two realities:

One of anecdotal story (not anecdotal evidence -- Mckinnon conveniently didn't have anecdotal evidence): 'S' says 'P' is the case or real (e.g. Mckinnon or Reagan)

The other of our common experience.  Why should two people undermine (really one: Reagan talked about 'capacity', not reality) our common understanding?  I'd say this: accomplishing significant things is very very hard.
