There is at least some validity to all these topics. The problem is most hosts will let the guest get away with untested new agey or snow job kinds of answers. I appreciate that Dave has a friendly approach but isn't afraid to ask tough questions. There is a thirst out there for this and the audience will build in time.

Personally, I think focusing on believe/don't believe with stuff like this is shallow.  Belief is an ephemeral thing and only acquires substance when you act on it, and few people listening have the slightest idea how they'll act when the occasion arises, or if there's even a choice.  It's just information you take in.

Ever read Swendenborg? I'm sure you have Soren (cant figure on phone how to do letters.) Interesting, both. The former is weirdly forgotten, sorta, but would seem should be more?

Yeah, it's the cheapest exchange you can have with presented experience. Which might be my only real critique of Dave, sometimes he'll litigate the guest like he's a Redditor whoring for upvotes, sating the dull public mind with practiced reality. Art was the best at restraining that impulse for the sake of narrative and mystery.  Art's audience doesn't exist anymore, people's brains are different, which might also account for a big part of his success with these topics?

Joking aside, so-called "squat toilets" are supposedly easier to use than Western-style sit-down ones.  I have never seen an SP, but I have seen a sort of "platform" you can retrofit to a regular toilet; you might want to look at one of those.

I think it's good to push back a bit on meandering guests, but I do prefer a certain amount of latitude given we're often talking about fringe topics that can't necessarily be held to such scrutiny.  Some folks want the tough questions or even full-on debunk mode from an interviewer.  But I listen to this stuff because I'm interested in the speculation, the "what if's", sometimes I just like hearing the tales for the fun/curiosity of it.

I thought the NDE lady, although a bit undisciplined, was pretty interesting - some of her observations I'd never heard before.  I don't hold her to the same scientific standards that I would say a meteorologist or astrophysicist.  Likewise I enjoyed Adair when he was on - even if he's a total fraud he was still a kick to listen to if only for pure entertainment value. 

It's a fine line I guess and each interviewer has to pick where they're comfortable.  I like that Dave is articulate, intelligent, and well-informed.  But when it comes to his analytical side, I hope he errs on the side of encouraging an exploration of ideas and experiences.

One question for Preston: Did you hear of any UFO incidents on the Nimitz in the 1977-1978 time frame in the North Atlantic. The carrier jets were chasing orange orbs to 50,000 feet when they would shoot off and reappear, chasing the planes back to landings on the carrier. A friend was there as a radar tech.

Squat toilets are okay if you don't mind taking your pants completely off every time. Then you have to worry if there's toilet paper or just a shower head and whether or not it is the type to flush.

That's a good point about how Art played along with guests, but just as we're different listeners today, I wonder if some of the genre guests just aren't as good at stringing along the yarns. Have the guests that made Art's technique possible no longer around, or their aging presentations too dated, and the newer personalities not as good at the game?

OMG. Just last week I got through about a third of Swedenborg then gave up for awhile. Really interesting considering its 18th century. Only the Age of Enlightenment probably saved him from burning at the stake. I stopped to read the backstory on him. All the biblical, Christian references are little difficult for me.
