Heather's voice doesn't bother me as much as Lasha's writing. I think she's a grandmother but she writes like a teenager.
Thinks like one as well. Probably has severe adult acne on those rolls of fat.

popple

Offering any sane advice to Heather on FB is a direct attack on her and Art's legacy!!!

Lasha may make me ashamed to be human
Reading the posts of HW sycophants make me ashamed to be human.  Praise MV and pass the RAM chips.

Let's keep this thread as the generic "Midnight in the Desert" thread until Heather establishes herself as worthy of her own new show thread. I just can't see posting on two different threads as long as the drama links the two. All due respect to Schrader, he's part of the MITD tableau right now, and who knows when that will change.

Why not re-name it Cuckshed Diaries?

Even canned archives of live shows are more fun than podcasts. Podcasts seem sterile, like an audio Powerpoint presentation.

Some podcasts I don't mind the fact they are pre-recorded, like Gilbert Gottfried's. But when it comes to recording, I don't like to do a show and put it "in the can." I LOVE being live, knowing someone is listening. It ups my game and makes me try harder.

I vote "no."  It describes the period in time when HW was hosting MITD precisely.

I tend to agree with you and Brig on this.

But I could be wrong.

Hey as long as she is legal. Doesn't matter if I think it's creepy or not. I've been through this lately. The lesbian facebook groups in my area are mostly under 25. They get so mad I won't date them. Nope. What the hell would I have to talk about with a 25 year old at 42?

Wait I'll save the guys some trouble, "you wouldn't be talking much". LOL.

Glad it's not just me. I didn't grow up in the Internet or DVR age, so I'm used to entertainment following a schedule. It's generational I guess. There's way too much content out there for me to try to figure it all out. That's partly how George and C2C will always have the advantage, and frankly why most people think Art just faded away.

My generation was the borderline between kids having no access to technology and having lots of access. I was pre-DVR and pre-internet (for the most part - I was a teen when the 'net became widely accessible). We had one small, crappy computer lab at my elementary school that we visited maybe once a week to play either Carmen Sandiego or The Oregon Trail. That was pretty much the extent of it for us. As a teenager, I used to record songs off the radio onto a cassette tape to listen to later. On-demand stuff was a pipedream that most of us hadn't even considered.

That being said, I have come to love podcasts. There are so many, and they are convenient. I don't have to listen live. I can go back and re-listen if I want or if I miss a segment. I can pause and come back. I can listen on my PC or my smartphone. My chosen entertainment can follow my schedule rather than the other way around.

Speaking to people my age and younger, most love listening to podcasts and rarely tune in to traditional radio on a weekly basis (especially since you can listen in the car where radio usually rules). While there is a lot of crap content out there, there are some great shows that might have never been heard if it wasn't for podcasting. Personally, I love it.

I always thought that Art could have simplified his final return, and possibly kept up better despite his failing health, by just doing a podcast that wasn't 5 nights a week. He could have kept a schedule that was less demanding and still reached a huge audience.

But that's assuming the whole MitD thing wasn't a bait and switch from the get-go.  ::)

I'm open to name change ideas for this thread, or we could just leave it as is and create a new thread entitled "Midnight In The Desert with Blah."

The first name change idea that came to me was "Former Podcaster Heather Wade."

Thoughts?

I'm the least important person here - starring Heather Wade

I'm old-school enough that I don't even like Skype callers. If the host doesn't sound clearer than the caller, it compromises the host's authority. I like the noise...like I set my Blu-Ray player to keep the film grain so every movie doesn't look like a video-taped rehearsal.

I like Skype for guests, but I'm not a fan of having the callers on Skype. I especially like it for guests when I know I'm having multiple guests, like we did this week on Spooky Southcoast. Keep the main guest on via Skype, but then use the studio phone lines to bring in the other two that were joining in for part of the interview. And considering we produce live streaming video at the same time, when we can get it all set up ahead of time, it's best to bring the guest on Skype so we can have live video of them when we cut to them, instead of just a static shot.

Heh!  For some reason this reminded me of time I was dancing to a band at a night club. I was right in front of them just dancing away when I noticed they were all looking at me. I thought "wow, I must be dancing really good."  I just kept at it until I looked down and realized my top had rolled down (it was a tube top) and they were staring at my boobs. OMG! What could I do, but pull it up and continue dancing.   :o

Thanks and I really respect your ability to adapt. Art had the stature to be able to do a show that was Internet-based yet not "scheduled" like a traditional show. Ironically his nature was to think "broadcast," whereas he could have had a respectable second career doing a show like you describe, and people would have sought it out.

Some podcasts I don't mind the fact they are pre-recorded

By definition every podcast would have to be pre-recorded.

I like your approachâ€"and the fact that your show follows a regular "live" schedule.

I don’t even get wtf she’s referring to. Keith stealing from Heather?  ::)

Any of you budding podcasters out there should look closely at the Spooky Southcoast Youtube videos and watch how Tim stays on the mic. One of the most annoying things about podcasts is the poor audio - frequently level changes in the hosts voice caused by poor mic technique.
