Thing is, Heather was pretty much a nobody (not a judgement, just a fact) before she met Art and he decided to give her the farm. So all of these people who not only loved Art, but who were BellGabbers, felt like they knew her "before she was famous", and somehow can "touch" Art (the "real celeb") by fawning all over Heather as she transitions to fame. (or so they hope)

Maybe, anyway.

You may be right. Although I get the impression that the people in that group are not Bellgabbers, in fact quite the opposite. They expressed resentment back when Art came back and gave Bellgab a well-deserved shoutout. They don't seem privy to a lot of the stuff discussed here, only what comes directly from MITD and Heather. Some of the recent posts are from people who claim that they didn't even listen to Art. They joined because they loved Heather's show.

So for those people, I don't get the motivation. Have they not heard a good radio show before? Does Heather simply parrot their views so they glom on? Do they truly think she's good listening?

I really wanted her to succeed early on. I liked Redacted on GabCast but she doesn't seem like the same person now (or maybe it's because we weren't seeing the whole person back in those days). I thought that maybe I wasn't "getting" something about Heather, so a while back I played a short clip of Heather on MITD for my husband. He has listened to GabCast, so he is aware of the history of Heather, but he doesn't really keep up or listen to those kinds of shows. As soon as he started listening, he wrinkled his face up and said (I'm paraphrasing) "is she trying to mimic Art Bell's voice? Wtf is this crap."

As a side note, there's always that running joke about how do you explain what BellGab is to someone who isn't in this community. I did that with my husband a while back and it was a strange conversation explaining MV, Falkie, mayo, White Crowwww, horse porn, etc., etc.  ;D

Ramona is buried in a cemetery in Pahrump. I sure hope Airyn buried Art next to Ramona.
Ach!  "Who's"?!

People keep bringing up the joke without getting the joke. A long time ago while co-hosting the gabcast, Jaz was complaining about people that steal your bandwidth. He said uploading horse porn to their computer would be a fitting retribution. That is where it started. You're welcome, everyone.

Can someone provide an actual example of this "horse porn" of which ye speak so fondly?

Tell your friend to move to Australia and steal Jaz's bandwidth.

I don't think you'd ever see Art Bell in the forum bragging about how much "beav" he was going to get after the death of his wife.

Night night MITD.

So she really is Girl Noory.  Huh.

Nory's a generous man and cares about all people.  I heard he may run for President someday.  I'm sure she'll be hosting C2C on certain weekends.  Why not?  They have Connie Willis and Lee-Cigar.  Heather can do better than both of them...maybe.  Go girl!

What’s with these people feeding into her drama like that? The quickest way to shut it down is to ignore it.

You are right.  All she has to do is not post on social media.  Period.  Take as much time as she needs and get her head together, take care of business behind the scenes.  It's simple.  Very simple just to shut it all off until one is ready.

I'm not sure she wants to be ready.

Without a doubt, her return show would get the highest numbers in quite a while. Keith may pop a blood vessel.

So, essentially you think she is afraid to do it without Art's guidance?  I can see that.  This is her prime opportunity though to shine through.  I didn't see any evidence before that it could happen.  However, she still could do it, but she has to without Art.  Or, just quit and find another path.

Quote from: El Chorro on April 20, 2018, 07:39:46 PMOne of the things that I find amazing as I become more aware of Art's history is that his national profile was so short-lived. I would have thought he was practically doing play-by-play on the Patterson-Gimlin film. To learn he became well-known in the early 90's and that by the early 2000s was already phasing out of radio is amazing to me. Having him die just as I was learning so much about him here was really startling, and having the news break (on Twitter) as Noory was beginning one of his shows was a pretty stunning bit of timing.

I like George Noory but I don't see him as a replacement to Art...I've been listening for less than a year on a most-every-night basis, and only then for the first half hour or so. It's annoying when the pharmacist/veterinarian shows come on, but I don't love a lot of the guests Noory has. I agree with what I've read (soaking up BellGab in large doses these past few months) that paranormal guests aren't what they used to be, and that's one of the reasons I assumed Art had ridden his wave a lot longer, and started a lot sooner. By the 90s it was already on its way out, I think.
But he could've gone back onto other subject matter.  He said on the air that he expected Mr. Noory to take the program in other directions, to put his own stamp on it.  I'm disappointed C2C w Geo. Noory kept on so much w paranormal topics he clearly wasn't interested in.

If Mr. Bell rode the wave onto paranormal subjects when they were hot, after he'd previously emceed on other subject matter, why could he have not smoothly transitioned to the next wave?  Before WABC put C2C on, they had a weekly overnight John Bachelor-Paul Alexander program they called Conspiracy Radio -- I never knew its official title.  Mr. Bachelor went on to do a very different program on WABC (now carried nationally), & he seems as much "into" his programs now as he did then -- which is to say, very much.

BTW, health topics can be very interesting on radio...with a m.c. who knows & is interested in the subject!  Mr. Noory is not that person, so it's not like C2C's entertaining when he's hosting on those topics either.  But I bet he could find some topics he would be "that person" about.

All press is good press.

isn’t it odd we haven’t heard from Keith? Nothing since going off on Nye Co. sheriffs? Nobody mentioned Heather on the C2C tribute, but I dont recall anyone mentioning Keith, either. I may have fallen asleep through that part though.

Noory has also shown an appreciation for nostalgia.  He could do some shows that pick a period of time that he grew up in and address it in his 'newspaper reporter' identity.  He could do his ode to Cronkite at the beginning and segue into some other topics and stories.  Bring in guys who are from that era.  Dick Bertel, etc.  Anyone who is still alive.

For once she speaks the truth.  I doubt she believes it...

I grew up listening to one of the best baseball announcers of all time.  Jerry Coleman would get so turned around that his malaprops and just out-and-out goof-ups made newspapers nationwide.  He knew it, laughed and made it his schtick.  It had endeared him to fans and the community...

If HW could have embraced that type of persona early on and stopped being so disconnected things would be very different.  Everything seemed/seems so contrived from her, unnatural and uncomfortable.  Intuitives and many empathetic people see those characteristics as red flags.  Just like when you don't trust a salesperson or a gladhander trying to get you involved in some cause.

Repeating back what is heard in the way she does here is not a big revelation, it's a self-pity/victimization move to garner sympathy.

The codependency is off the charts, based on her reliance on Art to guide her, encourage her, etc...

He tried to go to Art's compound Pahrump Nevada...  He got pulled over for a broken tail light and hasn't been seen since.  🙄

Actually, he just got back on Twitter in the last day or so.

Yeah, all of that. I thought her show was depressing and like she wasn't having a good time years ago. I can't imagine the downer the show would be if she made one now. It's over.
