I’ve been looking. I don’t think there is a 100 footer in Texas. I have some 60-70’ oaks and elms but I haven’t seen a 100 footer anywhere I have been.
Leave it to the Aggies.  Give Edward C. Fritz in Tyler county a call.  At least in '73, he had a 133 foot hickory.  I wouldn't be surprised if neither Edward or the tree is still around.  Maybe the tree will pick-up.

Definitely some 100 footers in The Lone Star State.  MV's potential playground.

"Going through a divorce"

Pfft.

At my lowest point, I've always had a couple Dollars to spare. But I can see why he wouldn't wanna blow it on Midnight in the Desert with Art B-- uh, er, Heather Wade.
Keith's best answer for that would be something to the extent of "Have you ever thought that listening to Heather might have been the reason for your divorce?  I mean, that was a nasty habit, I'm glad it's now broken for you."

The guy made threats of cancelling his membership until Keith called him out on it and revealed he hasn't been a subscriber since Dec 2016. That was golden haha

I just checked back to that particular facebook post and Bill is still going on and on.

He must be in competition with Lasha for Heather's love.

I've listened to a few talks he had. But I never really connected with his style :-X

The one philosopher and scholar who I enjoy listening to is Alan Watts. Definitely a favorite of mine.

I like some Wayne Dyer stuff. But there were times I felt he let his ego get in the way of his presentations to where he was catering to his audience a bit too much.

Eckhart Tolle I haven't heard enough of to formulate an informed opinion. He sounds a bit monotone.
I listened to one talk where he just so happen to be recording it on September 11, 2001 and whilst he was doing his monologue the 9/11 event happened.
It was interesting to hear his reaction and the tangents he branched off into spontaneously because of it.

Some of his thoughts really helped me in the past (still do for that matter)...just letting things roll off your back is far superior than stressing yourself into an early grave.

He's what I'd call a "turd that won't flush".

For a doobie you would climb a 100' tree...
Well, yes you are fucked, but not because you'd climb 100' tree.
Most of us on bellgab are fucked it's a matter of degree.
Enough of gladiators.  Time for men in skirts kilts!

That sounds like an effective skill to possess. I need some way to calm down.

Yea, I think once you come to the realization that you have very little control over most things around you, then you come to accept that what is, simply just is...even when truly horrible things happen that you have to cope with.

We look back and wonder how the hell we thought it was a good idea climbing a 100 foot tree when we were kids, as adults it looks stupid.

i'd still climb a 100 foot tree.

I think someone interested in ALL the topics you suggested, and MORE would be great, as long as they don't do a lot of giggling and laughing...
I take it you're not a big Connie Willis fan.

Here's Connie, looking for Bigfoot, weed, and 100' trees.

I'm not sure if you were doing a bit when I heard you on the GabCast, but you seemed a tad highly strung, Chefist. I guess you were kidding around...I'm gonna look into this Tolle fellow.

I was told more years ago than I care to remember: "Don't worry about the things you cannot change, and if you need and want to, change the things you can"

That's pretty much it...often takes a long time and a lot of life OJT to learn that fact...

or Southern California?

In Sacramento they drive around with bits hanging off the body of the car..I've seen a car with no hood, just an exposed engine, a cop car right behind it.

Welcome to MV's treehouse.

You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.  MV's not bad, but don't get too close to Jazmunda.

She looks very well put together in that photie. I happened across some of the shows she does on her own steam via YouTube, and her visual aesthetic (titles, show thumbnail art etc.) is HORRENDOUS. She also wears the thickest set of spectacles I ever did see a lady in. I think Coast handling her image on fill-in nights went a long way...

;D

My dad was an auto mechanic, who always had a "work in progress" either in the driveway, or out on the street. My former BFF's dad restores Mustangs, so he did as well. I never really thought much of it.  Maybe as  a kid, I just didn't care. Now, I'd be like WTF??

Jazmunda does have the accent going for him, though.. if you're into that sort of thing.
