This reminds me at times at school when you've been drinking etc all day with your friends all day at the game or something and then you get roped into going to dinner with your girlfriends or friends or anyone's parents and you, suddenly, "come too" and realize everyone is staring at you because you are rambling.

I think I am beginning to understand the allure of radio for Heather.

Agreed!  My vernacular has degraded through the years after hearing 4 letter words all over the place. Suckfest used to only to refer to Jorch Noory's radio show but unfortunately the suck is spreading across the airwaves. :(
They one thing remaing good about Art and even Norry, "don't curse." Both had military experience, ha, but still appreciate no cussing. A good thing over the airways.

... Well to start with Heather was giving relationship advice to some friendzoned cuck...

Anyone we know?

Well, this show is just as useless as ever. I think I'll fare better on You Tube.

Mike in Montana, Dale in Arkansas, Fontaine, Sunshine in Indiana, and that trucker that always blows his own horn....a dozen might be on the optimistic side of things.

I'm not seeing much of a bright side with MITD at this point, so I'll take what I can get. :)

Perhaps it's just me, but I don't actually mind hearing from Sunshine.  She always sounds cheerful, upbeat, and (this is the important part), unlike Heather, it does not sound forced

(Pleasant > smart with me, but I do not expect everyone else to share this view.)

At least she flushed the drunk wolfman some months ago.

I have a feeling that before all this is over, Heather is going to be scrambling around trying to find Wolfman's contact information in the exact same way that an alcoholic feverishly looks for a quarter-full bottle of vodka they recall seeing in a desk drawer three weeks ago.  But I could be wrong about this.

One thing I can say for sure: if "Colby from Wisconsin" calls one more effing time, I will be arranging her deportation from the US.  Not because I am particularly angry at her or anything like that, but simply because I never want to hear from that idiot woman ever again

(Good gawd.)  ::)

Anyone reading this is, of course, welcome to PM me if they'd like to help defray expenses.  Offhand, I plan to chain her to "Bear" and deport them both to Burkina Faso (they'll make a great couple), but I'm receptive to other ideas.

Moving Colby is a tall order. In her little town in Wisconsin she is Mayor, Sheriff, Justice of the Peace and Dog Catcher. The rest of the town (all seven of them) listen in every night she calls in. If you deported her, the rest of the town would demand to go with her. Be forewarned. They all sound the same.

Thank You for posting the exciting highlights!  It saves me hours and hours of useless listening.  Still enjoy reading the thread in the morning though.  :-*

I take exception to your describing listening to MITD as "useless."   >:(  I think a more honest description would be "useless and exasperating."

If chat shows were cars, MITD would be a Zhiguli (known to Westerners as the Lada).

What's the difference between a Lada and a golf ball?

It is possible to drive a golf ball 200 metres.

What occupies the last 16 pages of the Lada User's Manual?

The bus and train timetables.

(You get the idea.) :(

Wow. She sounds so miserable and sad. It's kind of depressing.

I thought you got people to call in by putting on an interesting, entertaining show that made them want to say something- instead of trying to guilt them into calling by revealing just how few people are on the line.

Do we see a change in MITD come the new year? Or are there enough people who forgot to cancel a recurring paypal payment?

Ahh, thank you. There are a few voices that when I hear them, cue me to go to the kitchen and wash dishes to dodge shaggy dog stories.

As for last night, the only memorable moment was the ex-soldier's call about the giant carrying a cow in Iraq. The rest has fortunately already blown away into the desert sands.

I agree.  Cussing does nothing to further the conversation and will actually cause some people not to continue reading.  Why pollute your mind with garbage?

I get revenge on those who ask too many of them by giving an long-winded answer that defies what I think they want to hear.

Wow. She sounds so miserable and sad. It's kind of depressing.

The truly depressing part is that she is clearly trying to hold the listeners responsible for her own misery and sadness.  The process taking place in her head that makes this okay (in her eyes) to do this is utterly inexplicable to me.

The old saw "any port in a storm" seems to apply to Heather.  If she isn't getting calls, it's not (I'm guessing), according to her way of thinking, because the show she's supposed to be hosting isn't compelling.  Nor is it because she is failing to hold the interest of the listeners with pointless blather about whatever happens to come into her head at the time.

Rather, it's because the listeners are [Corky voice] bastard people.  They're just bastard people who are too stupid to appreciate how talented she is, even when what she's actually doing is boring the arse off them to the point where picking up the phone is the absolute last thing on their minds.

Judging from the smug, self-satisfied tone of voice Heather used last night when talking about a proposed 1-year anniversary show (or was it an anniversary week of shows? Good Lord.), I'd say that if you bet on anything changing, you'll lose your money.

Speaking for myself, I will be contemplating the fact that Heather has managed to stay on the air for a year in wide-eyed wonder (and paying tribute to HL Mencken, who is credited with establishing the link between underestimating the stupidity of the public and business success.*)

*Not that the affiliates have agreed with that or anything.

My response:

"I'm here to stay. Deal with it. ROFLMAO"

Its quite endearing the way no-one listens to her but knows exactly what she's saying.

This appears to be an ongoing trend.  I had written when she fist took over that I planned on letting my subscription continue (and I did, for awhile even if I did not listen.)  I figured that it would get better... I also thought that she needed a bit of a boost.

However, I tuned in a few times and the guilt trips and tone of the show made me decide against bothering with it any longer (I think it was shortly after the Titor interview.)  I don't put up with that from people in my life, and I sure as hell was not going to pay for it.

I suppose that much like Noory, she shows up every night- and in the world of radio, that must count for something.

I still check out plenty of other DMDN shows, but never Heather.  Worst show by far.  I just hope they find a replacement before she sinks the whole network.
