Lots of bad radio as well as bad podcasts, i dont listen to them..why do you? I understand you post to critique but if you stay to just belittle after the recent events with Art you may want to rethink the statement, as well as your sanity.
I dont listen to music i dont like, why do you?

Point taken. I was expecting Art when I tuned in last week, and got Redacted.

I won't be listening anymore. My statement stands, and I'd say it to anybody - directly to their face. My sanity is just fine, sir.

I listen to a lot of music, there's only a few genres I do not care for. And agreed - I don't listen to stuff I don't like. But I was kinda ambushed last week.

The hugbox would be the death of the show if the network weren't already doomed. I'm checking out too.

Heather, who says you need to use your real photo? Here is one that might suffice.

You need medication, please re read my post and then the reply you gave, is you stick with it then i guess you would be considered a internet troll.
I gave practical reasoning and perhaps suggestions in my posts, I'm not clear on what the motive you have sir.
But if you want to debate me bring it on my friend, so far the logic you have brought is very flawed.
I only post when i have time just so ya know.

Don't sweat it, BF. You're clearly misreading his intentions. He's just cruising and old rubbys are his kink. He loves giving blowjobs to dirty old rubbys, the pissier the better. He was just hoping you'd take the bait. BTW, I'll give you the benefit of doubt and hazard a guess that whenever you've pissed yourself you usually always clean yourself up afterwards  ;)

Message in a bottle here:

I know diddly squat about Heather irl (or care to), none of what I post was or is meant to be hurtful.

I think she should do her own free podcast, and Richard C. Hoagland should fill Midnight in The Desert's slot - either from here on out OR till Art gets back.

Otherwise, as a fan, this all feels wrong.

As much as I dislike Hoagland I have to admit it makes more sense giving him the early slot. He was a regular with Art back in the day. I would feel a bit slighted if I were him (he probably always feels slighted though because he thinks NASA is against him) and some person no one knew replaced Art and was still going before me.

Not a dig on Heather, I would rather hang out (and maybe listen haven't heard enough shows to determine that yet) with her than Dick Hoaxland but as a fan of the Art Bell show none of this makes much sense.

Except for the fact that Hoagie doesn't do a full week of shows. He only did one complete live show all week. Is that what you want?

Without Hoagie, I would have never found the best car dealership on the west coast.

Long live the summer dress.

PS - Am I allowed to say I am still enjoying MITD or is that sniveling?

I like Hoagland, he isn't as interesting as Art, of course. But he's as close a second as I can fathom.

I've got no more to say on Redacted at this point - my opinion is not a constructive one and I'm nobody anyway so fuck me.

...

So he plays hooky a bit.

Art was doing that anyway when the intruder started appearing around his property.

Peace, bro!

And I do mean peace. I don't want to have to come in here as backup, but you know I will if necessary.  ;)

Me too, but I will admit that he provided me with the single most entertaining Friday night of this past summer.  It was a rough summer, and I'd not laughed so hard in years.  By the time the radio jingles started I could barely take it.   If he could consistently provide such surreal and insane radio I'd be all for letting him have a shot at MITD.  But I'm willing to take my chances with the new show, knowing full well the Can't Blame The Rain show was an anomaly.

I think everyone in the Hoagie thread suffers from some degree of PTSD due to that show.

The photo.  I am soul searching on that.  There are good reasons why I don't want a photo of me published.

I consider radio the medium of the imagination. Don't post a photo until you're good and ready. Enjoy the mystique and anonymity while you can.

No, it means you're "white knighting" and clearly have some skin in the game. You should only keep posting about how much you hate the show, hate Art, how bad it is, day after day.

Art had 50 terrestrial radio affiliates. For a podcast only 5 months in that's incredible. At started C2c in the 80s and he didn't get 200 affiliates till 1995. Getting 50 in less than a year is insanely successful.

I was agog when i heard that.  I felt the show was on the verge of a break-out, but looks like it was even closer than I thought.  Against all odds this thing actually almost happened.

But that was then (last week).  This is now.  Moving on.  Good luck Heather with whatever comes of this.  The first week was fun and entertaining, so that bodes well.

Btw, people are complaining about the well-wishers, but i think of something I heard Jerry Seinfeld say once, which was that when you're doing live stand-up, the audience gives you exactly one-minute of benefit-of-the-doubt before they expect to be entertained.  I think this last week was that proverbial one-minute.  As the afterglow of Art's presence starts to dim, I think things are gonna heat up.  Personally I think you're up to the task.  Dig deep, have fun, and enjoy the ride.

Nah. Heather is the bride of Satan and the Anti-Christ. She will single handedly bring on the Apocalypse. By revealing the details of her NDE, she will unleash the spawn of hell upon the Earth. Within a few weeks, Heather will be the queen of Earth. All shall love her and perish.  None shall eat or drink without the sign of Heather (a bar code that contains the call letters of the local affiliate carrying Heather's program of power!)

Just to state the obvious (my calling in this life), this juggernaut was NOT due to the overwhelming excitement of Midnight In the Desert interviews. It was Art's leverage after 30+ years of late night radio fame.

You're only allowed to say it if you tell us whether you also felt this way about the New Coke.

HOAGLAND SUCKS!   I'd rather hear Steve Quayle as host than Hoagland.  Hoagland's schtick gets old really fast.  He does not deserve Art's slot.  I'm standing by Red.

Breezy

What is the matter with people? I just read what Art says is his last social media post as people are saying awful things about Heather and himself. Trolls love kicking the stuffing of people when they are down as Art is for the moment or starting something new as Heather is. First some gun shooting criminal kicks Art off the air and now all the jerky trolls come out of the woodork like so many cockroaches to do their worst.

I believe the person or persons who shot Art off the air will be found, apprehended, prosecuted and incarcerated. I believe that he will return to the air again in peace and safety. I am holding that vision for him and invite his fans everywhere to do the same.

Heather is doing a great job IMO. If the shots had never been fired at Art and she had had her own show on the network, I would have been a listener. I like her voice, her style, her attitude and her questions.

Art, Heather, don't let the uglies get to you.I have been Art's fan since 1996 and am now Heather's fan, and I know by the volume of calls Heather answered yesterday evening offering appreciation and support that I am not alone. Focus on all the positive energy being sent to you both by your audiences and let that feed you. Sending love to each of you and to your loved ones and to Keith and everyone who make Dark Matter a daily part of my life.

+1. Hoagland can't even pull off a full week of live shows anymore and as far as I can tell mmmKay can't get any guests booked. Anyone that thinks 2 repeats, 2 open lines and a Mars round table each week is going to cut it for the earlier time slot is crazy.

MITD is not just "a podcast"; it was the return of Art F**king Bell, who left radio at the top of the non-daytime talk heap and with 500+ affiliates, including most of the urban monster stations. To the contrary of your notion, I believe a mere 50 or so mostly smallish affiliates after five months were a huge disappointment to the DMDN principals and our favorite host started looking for a door.
