Still waiting for Niven to break down and write another in that series that isn't in Known Space.

I sometomes wonder if he left it all in Unknown Space for the fertile imaginariums

He had a third Smoke Ring book, but he abandoned it.

How do you know someone's scientifically legit?  They openly assert "I'm a science guy!"

I have to mix in a few serious questions with the ones or two I've basically called in as jokes, don't I?

No, I don't think calling in with joke questions are funny. If you are going to ask a question, ask an interesting question that causes some deep level of introspection, or ask an interesting question that the guest might actually be able to answer. if you want  to prank a show, call somewhere else.

Isn't the current hypothesis that it's a comet swarm?

at this point who knows what it was since we are seeing what happen 1500 years ago.

A hypothesis, sure.  The hypothesis??

LOL's.

Maybe this is a comedy show tonight.  It is pretty funny.

Would a triangular ring be more stable than a circular ring?

I've never worn a Venn diagram "out there."

Where are the calls for open lines?

I agree. Never liked the Howard Stern stuff, except maybe when it was with "serious" news shows, just pointing out how not "serious" they are. I understand people's upset at no more Art and don't particularly like HW's show, except for a few episodes sometimes, but simply, as you point out, don't listen, change channel, make your own show, etc. Or read a book.

Or much more recently, if the absorbing matter is much closer.

Well, the triangle could be a baffle placed in solar orbit to block starlight in an unnatural way, thus telling the universe that you exist without having to expend huge amounts of energy on radio beacons. It's a cheap way to make contact with other civilizations, just put up a big mylar triangle that blocks the starlight. Sort of like sending morse code messages with a signal lamp.

I like to listen and complain and read the posts here with other bellgabbers.   MV hasn't banned me yet, so I guess that's allowed.  dunno.......... :-[

Sorry J. Cena, looks like we're getting farther away from the exoplanet thing  ::)

I think asking about whether ideas dreamed up by SF authors like Niven souls exist in the real universe it a worthy question to ask. The idea of ring of breathable free-floating atmosphere surrounding a star is such an interesting concept.

It's not even a Heather police thing. I pay for the archives. I don't need to hear the shit over and over.

If people can voice their opinion about how much the show sucks, I can voice my opinion about how much they suck.

If you don't like the show, go somewhere else. That simple.

norland2424

is the guest explaining to us how he became HIV + ?

First, ask yourself if the guest is capable of providing an answer. If not, then why ask the question?

Challenge this guest don't feed into or go along with this by suggesting it might have been a dream

Eh . . . Art would be able to handle that situation. That's where some of the best radio came from. Spontaneous unexpected stuff.

How many times did you re-listen to the Wishing Machine: Star Wars Edition episode? How about Tie-Door?

I never said you should be banned. But if you can complain, so can I right?  MV has not banned me yet either.
