Midnight In The Desert

Glad to hear that Heather is improving. I thought she did a great job with Tobias, who makes it pretty easy to interview him. The story about the "entity" under the bed will haunt me for a while...

She also did quite well with the callers, though it seemed like some of them joined her quite abruptly. Maybe they're handling calls a bit differently? I'm sure it'll be worked out.

I’m looking forward to tonight’s show â€" Albert Taylor is the exception that proves the rule:  astral projection aka “spirit journeys” new-age people usually sound like witless simpletons to me, but he actually knows this stuff backwards and forwards.  Which is even harder to accept because of his superweird voice and strangely child-like joyful character.

But he’s a fountain of knowledge on the esoteric world of consciousness, and he offers compelling and internally consistent logic when questioned.  And when it comes right down to it, he’s am extremely intelligent and delightful guy.  I think she’s going to have fun interviewing him.

Her greatest need for improvement is in how she asks questions. Like most interviewers, she frequently rambles through a question.  The very good interviewers keep it direct and short.

I just heard a few segments of the Friday night show with the bullshit 'time traveler', and the first few minutes last night with the orb guy (ugh!), so I haven't really heard that much of (Redacted) yet.

But if I had one suggestion to her it would be to be a little more free form.  Back when she was doing the Gabcast it sounded like much if not everything she said was over-thought, weighed, measured, filtered, then parsed, before spoken.  It sounds more so now.

I realize most of what sounds spontaneous in talk radio is well choreographed, it just doesn't sound like it as much.  I think she's smart enough and quick enough to be a little more casual and unrehearsed, it would come off much better.

Having said all that, I've enjoyed listening to her and that's really the one thing I'd tweak a bit.  As with Art, I've grown weary of most of the regular topics, hopefully she'll have a guest on I'm interested in before too long.

By the way, has she expressed a preference between being referred to as Heather or (Redacted)?

I always prefer real names if you are a radio personality...more trustworthy...

Why did Heather play Coast to Coast AM intro for Midnight in the Desert intro on Monday night.   ???

Art played it since MITD started up. She just kept the same song.

Surely there were new Art Bell guests already lined up? Are the guests like the subscribers and radio stations abandoning the show in droves. I feel for Keith. This network can't survive without new blood. Old and recycled guests will not attract subscribers.

Heather is doing the same thing.

She used C2CAM intro
She used Art's Bumper music

It's tacky to use another shows intro, Art gave up the right to that theme when he sold the show to Premier radio.

C2CAM is using Art's bumper music, his sounders and a song called "The Chase" that he used to open HIS show. You need to go talk to C2CAM and ask them why THEY can't use their own music..

Surely you must know this?

There is no such 'right'.

Will continue listening to H for the duration of MITD, may that be a long, long time!

She has been handed a gift, regardless of the ludicrous circumstances.  Never let a crisis go to waste!

Probably the guest has the sniffles. How was it changed? From who to who?

How about "Bellwether Heather"?

Bellwether means "one that leads or indicates trends"  or "a person or thing that assumes the leadership or forefront".

It has the word "Bell" in it (as a nod to Art), it rhymes with Heather, and it has a good definition for the person you want leading a talk radio show.

Why is this thread even here and why did I just bump it agin by commenting?  It's because I must be gay.  Yes I'm gay and I like balls.

If it were called that I'd cancel my subscription.

That name sounds like some frigid, temperance-type she-whale.

Huh, Maybe Heather will say?

ETA: Oh yeah, I remember this guy: "Over the last 38 years he conducted over thirteen thousand past life regressions with over 3500 clients." That's a shit ton. Too much of a shit ton. I can't remember if Art asked him about that or not.
