Levin just dumped a caller and simply started talking...with a lot of pauses, obviously filling time until his 40 seconds were filled back up again. No effort to hide what he did, and actually did it because he didn't want to engage the caller's point.

Well, dumping out of a caller is different. You can just drop the call. The dump button is to erase the previous airtime. It's noticeable. But you can drop a caller just by hitting one button to dump out of the call, it's not a dump button situation.

I'm learning more about the Eventide BD500 than I ever cared to know.  Can someone fill me in on the Yamaha CA-810?

Oh my.

Is it even worth the effort at this point?  ???  Between the "is this mic on?" gaffes, website mishandling, and wholly counterproductive PR, the wheels seem to be coming off this clown car already and she hasn't even done a week's worth of podcasts.

Having said that, does anyone feel like knocking together a Wade-O: The LNM Edition board?  The 15 people who call in time and again can used as squares.  I can start us off with 2.5 names:

Paul and Ella (obviously!)

Tom "Cuck Me Thrice" From Maryland

And

That One Guy From Memphis who...well, I don't know what he was, exactly, but I found myself shaking my head at the utter pathos.

Regardless of whether or not we have a Wade-o board, it might be of interest to post the names of last night's callers anyway.  We are practically guaranteed to hear from the exact same ones again when Heather tries to take the Hindenburg in for another landing with the ground crew busily lighting cigarettes, torches, bonfires, and anything else to which you can apply a match.

There has to be a death certificate for the body to be released for burial. What we need to see is what the doctor listed as the "cause and manner of death." That is important. If the manner isn't something suspicious then there is nothing there. But they can be amended if investigation proves otherwise.
I thought "pending" is a common filler for death certificates.

It's galling when a married "family" man does something like that.  A man from a church we were very active in owned a restaurant where I worked.  One day, he said he needed me for something.  I was 19 too.  I couldn't imagine what he needed, since he had plenty of guys around if he wanted tables set up.  Once we were in the room, he undid his pants.  I scowled disapprovingly at him, so he pretended he needed to tuck his shirt in and left.  Guess he no longer needed anything after all!  I left, too, and kept walking out that door!  Never looked back.  Must have been great for business, being suddenly short-handed, right before dinner, ha ha.  Maybe next time, he'd wait to until shifts were over to pull that crap... His daughters were my age!!  I hope he worried I would tell my parents.  They had been on church committees together.

Did he think I would just get on my knees and give it away?  He gave nothing!  No free meal, no sitty closey talkie talkie, no hug, no pats, no compliments, no trinket, no charm, no presentation of a "tip", NOTHING.  Not only illegal and immoral, but downright insulting.  I guess he thought he was "all that".

I imagine the boss you kissed you on the lips my have been a little drunk?

You know, the really creepy thing is, he looked like norry.  Mustasche and all.
Whoa, wait a sec now...was it the Cafe Maracasche or the Cafe Casbah, or whatever the Snore's old restaurant was called in or near St. Louis!!!???

What about Fapping Guy? You know.. the one she lets keep talking while he gets off.
apparently THAT doesn’t get somebody cut off, but asking uncomfortable questions about her does?  ::)

Gary Mize would call in, heck, he should be a guest (considering he designed the space shuttle) but he's busy at night stocking shelves at Wal-Mart.

While there is something archetypal about the middle-aged woman driven indoors by the cruel hand of time, seeking solace in feline companionship and hours on the phone talking about herself, I am astonished by the number of men presenting themselves as remote cavaliers to listen, and that these should be content to sit idly by murmuring appropriate noises as she opens gifts from another admirer.  It is so quaint and innocent as to make me feel unwholesome for trying to pry below the surface.   [emphasis added]

Chivalry is not dead in the American heartland.

All joking aside, I like to think chivalry isn't completely dead myself.  However, perhaps there is a perfectly sound reason America's Heartland is known by another name: Flyover Country.  That is, the values that are found there might now be considered irrelevant to the so-called "centers of progress" found on the coasts.

One of my complaints about the Internet is that it has made everyone too wordly-wise for their own good.  At the same time, I don't have much respect for people who allow themselves to be made fools of and I am convinced that's all Heater is doing.  I half-expect her to make a loop of, "Awwww, isn't that sweet!" so she can simply hit the button when she's doing her Fat Man with a Box Fanâ,,¢ impression.  Why waste the breath?

Chivalry only counts for something with me if it is directed at someone who is worthwhile (i.e. someone who isn't merely saying "Isn't that sweet!" in the expectation of future gifts).  I would say that there there is a fine line between being chivalrous and being gullible: Her desperate-for-female-companionship callers are, in my eyes, well across that line.

Cafe Marrakesh and Oasis Bar.

"So apparently you once had a restaurant in Brentwood, where our office isâ€"Café Marrakesh and Oasis Bar?

Noory - I did. Back in 1986, in addition to all the stuff I was doing in broadcasting and communications, I had the grand idea to open up a restaurant. And it lasted whole year. [Laughs.] It was a different lifestyle. It was part-time for me; it wasn’t my career. But I had a great time. And it was really busy. I’ll tell you what happenedâ€"when they started widening Brentwood for the Galleria? It killed me. Because that was our only access to valet parking, and it just wiped us out."

Black eyed kids guy was named Paul. Don’t forget Lasha and Dan from the UK.

Our own b_dubb used to call frequently. I’ve heard Damon and WhiteCrow. Art Bell called in once. D.B. Stearns. I don’t think we will hear producer Michelle call in anymore.

1st guy to give an extra fork for salad and let us not forget the Christmas tree decorated with the baked Potatoes for the children at Christmas!

There's Steve from California, who's obsessed with Heather and clearly wants to be a guest on the show. He always talks about a mirror box he's created for her. For a while he was claiming to have gotten lost in another dimension playing the Korean elevator game.

No he backed up...I wasn't clear. He made a comment about something the caller said that we didn't hear. He basically went "back in time"

He didn't call for a really long time, more than a year, I'd estimate. Then he called in once or twice in the last 6 months.

I'm not sure whether Dick Emery's aunt and a Chuckle Brother really counts, but have it your way.

When you're on a nodding acquaintance with someone who once played Richard Burton's stunt codpiece, it's the sort of thing you can't help sharing.

Just dropping this in here for shameless self-promotion (as usual), but tomorrow night's guest on Spooky Southcoast will be Dan E. Moldea, author of The Killing of Robert F. Just wait until they find out we're followers of Michael Aquino's son.

It's possible a hero will appear, I see no evidence of such thing just because Aquino and myself look at times alike, Doesn't mean I'm his son.

In my career as a Detective in both the NYPD and Sheriff's in SC. I never saw that...so? Also had cases homicides from Ga and NJ. We have to basically have the manner listed (homicide) to go to work. Some of course are very obvious others are not. If the police saw any sign of foul play it goes to Autopsy but and an investigation as well. Unless it was just a CYA. I worked many times with the former NYS & NYC ME Dr. Michael Baden, actually became good personal friends, (if you've been under a rock look him up...did over 10,000 post mortems in his almost 50 yrs and still going. He is one of the most honest men I know. He looks for the truth no matter what or who it's for, and that us what we all should want, justice...after all we spoke for the dead.) I have wondered if he knows any of the coroners or ME's out there. In the old days no problem, but in todays climate I hate to ask him to do this as a favor since I am now fully retired after 30+ yrs in LE. I will think more about this if we don't see something soon. At the NYPD we did all our own stuff, we could get a rush or if not needed take the reg time. Never waited over or 6 wks! Most small and or busy dept. will send wk out, FBI suxs can wait forever and find out they lost it. There is a very good lab we used after I retired from NYC and worked the cold cases in SC...sent stuff here all the time, in Philly called the National Labs I would bet dollars to donuts if Nye cty had to do it they most likely could not do it and would send it to a place like that. Oh well we wait and see, but something tells my gut it isn't kosher.
