Just for the record I hit the dump button on the caller who was talking about name dropping because I thought I heard some bad word BUT I instructed Keith to leave it in for the archives because there were no bad words. Sorry about that.

Art

Keith did as instructed and Rocky's call is intact in the archive.  I've listened to every MitD show since it began and this was the first one I almost couldn't finish.  Instead I played the last 2/3 of the show at 1.5x speed.  Greer talks a lot but he speaks slowly; he almost sounds normal at 1.5x.  Art sounds hilarious.

I'd feel bad calling Greer a liar except for all the people he accuses of lying.  Seriously, I want to hear about UFOs but most of what he has to say involves humans he accuses of lying.  Much of the rest is name-dropping.  As my mom likes to say, "When you try to impress that is the impression you make."

Here's an idea: instead of inviting Greer the Grifter on the show invite the guy on the corner who is panhandling for spare change. At least he's honest about it.

I think the correct term is E-Begger or Internet panhandler

Greer is so full of himself that it makes it almost impossible… Or should I say intolerable to listen to him  for longer than a few minutes at a time. He's constantly name dropping, name-calling, and generally promoting things that he somehow can't discuss all an attempt  to make himself sound credible. I've never liked him from the first moment I encountered him years ago. I got an  uncomfortable feeling almost immediately and it was mostly due to the fact that he came across like a car salesman. Now he's moved on from energetic young car salesman to grumpy old car salesman  and he's not doing himself any favors by going on shows like this and talking about a bunch of nothing.

Maybe some of what he's claiming could hold up in small claims court but if you really tighten the screws on his so-called evidence,  it really amounts to a bunch of hearsay.

Plus, he's moved on to regurgitating the same lines that he has been using for years now. A few years ago he was peddling stupid iPhone app that emitted tones to assist with contacting ET.I almost lost my lunch when I heard that. Who is he tryin I almost lost my lunch when I heard that.  He's making himself look more and more like a buffoon which he claims he doesn't care about. But the anger in his voice tells another story.  What a waste of an opportunity. It was more like a waste of three hours.

He also doesn't know how to shut the hell up and have a conversation. I was  ready to jump through the radio and muzzle him Phil Hendrie style every time he talked over Art .

I'm actually happy he was on the show, you knew it was going to happen eventually, at least we got it out of the way and Greer proved to what we all thought about him anyway, he is a washed up has been to us, but in his mind he thinks he is still relevant..guess what? we win, its over, now we can move on.

I'm glad he was on if only to confirm the general opinion of him.  The comments here alone are worth it.

I loved how he insisted his new disclosures were bigger than Art's breaking stellar-megastructure news.  What a primadonna!

I wish there was a picture of him next to the definition of douche in the dictionary.

And no, it's not over because there are new people every day who have never heard of him and by his bullshit.

I guess you are correct but he has been milking this shit for years, he is running out of new suckers to take advantage of.

Auslandia

I bet the collective viewership of ancient aliens has not heard of him or at least a significant portion of them. Those guys alone will keep him in business another 10 years .

I try to think of this stuff as a mass inoculation programme against credulity.

Art

Thank you sir, glad I'm a time traveler  8)

An hour into the archive. Waiting for the rocky quip. Might not make it. Tiring of the Greer.

First. Time. Ever. With. Art.

Nothing I haven't heard already from Lazar, Lear, Hoagland, others. Though it might all be interconnected. Something something torsion field, Gubmint, moon, mars, Aldrin, stuff.

jblank

Lamr, that's kind of my opinion also, but not just about Greer, but about some of the other UFO/Aliens guests also. Personally, outside of the interesting, though likely outlandishly false conversation about "Hubrids", a lot of the UFO/Alien oriented guests have regurgitated many of the same things that have repeated, ad nauseum, for years. It's not Art's fault, it's not the format of the show's fault, it's just that there is only so much legitimate information on these subjects that is out there and once it's talked about and know by all, everything else is eye-rollingly ridiculous or implausible.

This is why I think the show needs to open up into more (legitimate) scientific or astronomical discovery/speculation areas, discussions of geopolitics (I contend the show with Steven Starr is one of the best shows Art's ever done), and consideration and further speculation of government conspiracies (particularly globalism and movement towards a one-world government push). I know from reading the comments in the past several weeks, that others seem to think a few of these topics are played out and stale.

the first couple seasons of the show were entertaining..interesting..now they are getting to the regurgatative point..plus they keep having Dave on

ZomZom

Reminds me of the Paul Valery quote, 'Everything changes but the avant-garde.'

I agree that science brings more fresh material.

jblank

Exactly Zom! Do we want to hear about Bigfoot for the 753,218th time, or maybe talk about REAL science, REAL discoveries, REAL geopolitical issues. Speculation shows are great, and I love good conspiracies, but if I hear about Bigfoot or Zero Point Energy one more time, I'm going to start throwing things.

Again, it's NOT being critical of Art or the show format, it's just there is only a finite amount of information about those other topics and when the legitimate information is exhausted, what you're left with is frankly, bullshit, as in the case of Greer and others, and it's just so transparent that it's a waste of time to listen to.

You just summed it up nicely, its all the same shit.
WTF is wrong with us ?

Art made a mistake having that con man on the show.

I dont think so, he will have some of the other loonies on the show as as well, there was no doubt in my mind Greer was going to be on at some time, it was inevitable.
So its done and over and we move on, one thing i will say it was interesting chat fodder.

b_dubb

This has been a weakness of both of his returns. He tries to go back to what worked before (in the 90's). Well a lot of those guests have lost their credibility and a lot of those topics don't hold water. It's a mistake to try and go back and put lightning in a jar. Go find some new lightning.

35 pages is pretty good...I only like Greer when he talks about UFO cases, not conspiracy...

I wouldn't say it's a mistake, it's part of the format. I think Greer made the mistake in choosing to be a twat.

who this guy?

Greer charges hundreds of dollars to have people look at moths through night vision.

K_Dubb

Oh god Art Bell with no Bigfoot or aliens is unthinkable.  Some of you guys want to turn a batboy-style guilty-pleasure tabloid into Scentific American.  Kiss of death, man.  How about we have nothing but unsmiling atheists, scientists and debunkers from now on.  Just repudiate his life's work.

I haven't seen anything on that...what did he call the event? What did he claim the moths were? UFO's?

He claimed they were light beings. Also, blurry, pixilated trees were aliens.
