My son said one time when he was at his mom's he was outside and saw a "shadowy man" come out of a tree trunk, kinda materialized just standing at the base of the tree - looked at him - then just faded back into the tree. He swears it was true. He was 11 at the time. And when he was about 2 he would tell me there were shadowy figures like spiders up in the corners of his room at night.

When I was a teenager I discovered an abandoned insane asylum and used to leave packs of teenagers up there for an experience. Among the plethora of crazy things that happened there, we were stalked by a seven foot tall shadow figure that looked like a big grim reaper. The abandoned insane asylum was at the top of a little mountain, we stopped at the bottom of the mountain to smoke cigars. This very scary big black shadowy figure would pop out from behind trees staring at us and kept getting closer and closer until the girls in the group that night lost their shit and made us leave. It was fucking awesome.

Yes, indeed, several times.

I saw the hat man when I was around 4. His eyes were red and he smiled at me. His smile was like "hi there little girl."  Pretty damn creepy!

While living on Mt Baldy, in Southern California, I had some very unusual experiences, and saw some very unusual stuff.  Interestingly enough, I was never frightened.

Several times, I saw shadow folk, mostly up Bear Cyn. Rd.  I saw the blacked eyed children walking, in single file, up the switchbacks, which go up the the ski lifts.

Weird, but cool. Art's right though, I'm more prone to seeing shadow people when I've been at the computer for a while. I've had a hand push my shoulder already. None of them were ever scary to me though. And yes, you can feel their presence.

Here's something freaky to try if you have a full length mirror in the room. Just before you fall asleep, watch the mirror. Stare at it and don't take your eyes off it. Just try to fall asleep normally, so don't think about trying to fall asleep. You'll see some really weird shtick. It works better if the room is dim or almost dark.

If you don't have a full length mirror, try this. Stand in front of a bathroom mirror about 3" away from the mirror and stare into your own eyes. Within about 2 minutes, you should be able to see you own skull. FREAKY - LOL

Especially those old ones that are convex (or is it concave?) and why do they almost always have an eagle on the gilded frame at top? They are cool, but creepy too.
ps: there was a bar I used to go to where the bathroom, had full mirrors on all sides. It was like...I'm already drunk and now I have to deal with infinity reality of me pissing..bizarre.

I saw a floating shadow blob.  Sitting there watching TV, saw it out of the corner of my eye and turned toward it, assuming it would disappear because probably just something in my eye.  I turned my head, and it was still right there.  My heart starting beating like  Fight or Flight and I called my boyfriend who happened to be in New York (I'm in Seattle) and was hysterically screeching in his ear like he could do anything.  Scared the fuck out of me.  If I'd had an experience like Art's, I'd still be hospitalized and under heavy medication.

Glue a line of salt around the perimeter of the mirror and nothing can come through.

I myself saw a Shadow person 2 years ago in my socal high desert home near Joshua Tree.

In the evening, just before the sun went down over the mountain, about 100 feet from me a HUGE shadow was running up the dirt road. At first I thought it was a guy on a bike because it was moving so fast. What was weird is the shadow/silhouette was pumping it's arms back and forth in a very exaggerated manner as it ran, almost like a cartoon character. It went behind a bush that blocked my view of the road, and never came out the other side.

My roommate at the time also saw it a week later. I decided not to tell her about the experience, 7 days after that, she came up to me after sitting in the backyard talking on the phone, and she said she saw a huge black shadow person come around the neighboring house, and it had a long shadow that was following it, like it was trying to catch up to it. It was running quickly and vanished a few second later in plain sight.

Always wondered what the hell we saw... one of the strangest things I've ever seen.
